    8x17 et45 2004-2006 Acura TL wheels fit M3RWD?

Sorry. I can’t believe I have not gotten to these wheels I’ve got stored about a half hour away. HOWEVER, based on the rear brake size and how close they come to the inside of the wheels, I really doubt that 17” will work. I promise to update this eventually though.

Creep Roll Hold gone from all 2024 Tesla vehicles

Verified today I still have my creep and roll available on my 2023 and it hasn’t (yet) been taken away by any updates.

M3 Highland - Demo Drive Thoughts

I found the rear center headrest in the new model to look just too darn weird to me. It doesn’t block the rear view, but it sure feels like it’s going to. The 2023 center headrest retracts, unlike the 2024. 2024 also lost center heater. Here’s the 2024. See right side of pic. Then my...

Does Tesla Share Drivers Habits to Data Brokers too? (!!!)

I got a text from my State Farm agent (or one of her employees) that our Tesla insurance was going up due to the high cost to repair teslas. This was only ~4 months after checking rates before purchasing, and they didn’t respond when I asked how much it is going up. Just this morning while...

I was wondering about this. I just ran an update from February on our new car this morning before my wife took it to work. I wonder if we lost the three options.

Determining most efficient charge rate 2023 M3 RWD LFP

I was doing this but realized that the 300W used by the car being awake, and battery heating when cold makes it more efficient to charge as fast as possible. I was worried about causing peaks in my load with higher amps and only just realized that the peaks are only measured if they are...

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

I can confidently say that we would have bought a model Y instead of a 3 if buying today. However, when buying in 2023, my wife and son decided that the 3 was smoother than the Y (and I believe my son likes the 3 looks more), so they decided on the 3. Stalks were no question at all. I think I...

M3 Highland - Demo Drive Thoughts

Hustling in a parking lot is the scenario I experienced, and anything permanent to touch would have been an improvement. How is it that you think the car could decide which direction you want to go, but couldn't limit you from accidentally changing gears with the steering wheel? The 2023 car...

M3 Highland - Demo Drive Thoughts

I wonder what you thought of the comparison of the console sliding cover. I think my 2023 feels like much higher quality. I wasn't impressed with the cloth on the dash and doors. The Tesla rep made a point of letting me know higher end models get Alcantra or whatever that microfiber suede...

Creep Roll Hold gone from all 2024 Tesla vehicles

That's what she said, and I like Hold best. So that's good. I felt like it might have been closer to Roll than my 2023 Hold though. Maybe they made the Hold a little less aggressive if it can't be controlled.

Creep Roll Hold gone from all 2024 Tesla vehicles

Test drove a 2024 M3 yesterday and could not find the feature. Confirmed with rep that it doesn’t exist on new M3 and she said it’s gone from ALL 2024 Tesla. TRUE?
  12. mknmike

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

Yes. Of course I kept grabbing for the nonexistent shifter, and sometimes the nonexistent turn signal too. When you’ve been driving vehicles with shifters and turn signals in those locations (or a console shifter) for over 35 years, it’s hard to give up old habits. I wonder how much money...

    2024 Highland M3 side-by-side comparison videos

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

I drove a 2024 Model 3 yesterday in a crowded busy parking lot and basically couldn't deal. Took too long for me to hit the correct signal and couldn't shift gears fast enough when parking. I don't like no stalks, not to mention the visible complexity of the steering wheel is unappealing to...

M3 Highland - Demo Drive Thoughts

I drove a Highland yesterday and the ride is a TON smoother, and the rear climate control is a big improvement for rear passengers, but they did take away the middle seat heater, and... - I think the interior materials seem cheaper, and I'm not a big fan of the LED wraparound lights. - Lack of...

    2024 Highland M3 side-by-side comparison videos

I test drove a M3 today and had a few minutes to do some side-by-side comparisons pointing out what stood out to me, a recent 2023 purchaser. Rudimentary videos, but not long. Crazy smooth over speed bumps even with 45 psi in demo car tires. Why could I not change creep, roll, hold...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

I wish there were better numbers out there to use as advice. I have my charging set to 90% except 100% maybe once a week or 1.5 weeks. I was using lots of free supercharging thinking maybe I was saving a bit of money but since realized it’s less than $10/charge at home. So I stopped...

Lighter 12 volt power stopped working (1 day old)

lots of debris on the floor and I figured WTF and used the vacuum I’d put in the frunk even though it has blown the “fuse” before. I didn’t get far at all before the circuit breaker popped this time. And one look at the vacuum made it completely apparent why. A) no inline fuse B) wire...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Reporting in with 2023 LFP M3 RWD. Purchased just before Thanksgiving 2023. Now March 4, so just over 3 months old. Not sure I’ve even let the battery drop below 10% to recalibrate, but this morning is the first time I’ve seen 100% range down to 270 (from 272). Almost 1% degradation in 3...

Determining most efficient charge rate 2023 M3 RWD LFP

Around 8:30 pm I think I set the max charge to 90% and set it for a departure time of 7:30 am and also put that the end of my off-peak period was 8 am. I did not set the car to precondition. I got in at like 7:31 without checking anything, and the car was at 87%. I have yet to try and...

Determining most efficient charge rate 2023 M3 RWD LFP

One other thing I “verified” is that it’s ok (for now) to use ~$0.19/KWh as my cost. Since there are so many parts to my electrical bill, some fixed, some a direct KWh charge, I believe my actual cost per kWh is less, but if you just divide my total monthly cost for electricity by the number of...

Determining most efficient charge rate 2023 M3 RWD LFP

I researched more after posting yesterday and, while I don’t know the exact peak load times, determined that peak load charges are only calculated during the peak load times for the poco. So it seems that my peaks after midnight are NOT contributing to increased bills. So between midnight and...

Determining most efficient charge rate 2023 M3 RWD LFP

So with the post above, you can see that at 20 amps I can keep the consumption rate below 6 KWh/h (my approximate winter usage limit) but when I bump it up to 32 amps you can see in this picture for my usage Wednesday, there’s a clear peak that is higher than any of my other usage during the...

Determining most efficient charge rate 2023 M3 RWD LFP

So there’s certainly a balance of convenience and efficiency. I believe that with a lot of things replacing energy with human intervention/energy is going to be the most efficient way, but we can’t spend our whole life trying to figure it out. For now I’m going to try and record what I’ve...

How can you tell when your FSD trial expires?

Maybe the seller who bought a new Tesla used a referral code that got them 3 months FSD and 6 months free supercharging. If they were to transfer the FSD from another car, there’s 3 months of FSD that might get “wasted.” Perhaps Tesla gave the 3 months to the used car, or perhaps the seller...

I have absolutely had it with m3p 20’s

18” wheels were a key reason I preferred a M3 over MY. Wish I could go smaller, but the brake calipers would be an issue. Rear calipers of M3 RWD are very close with 18”. Does M3P have bigger brakes than RWD or other 18” models? If so, you might have issues downsizing.

About to lose it with rats in my Model 3

Nordic rats live in sewers and swim through the traps. Floor drain in the garage or any other plumbing in the shed/garage? They most certainly can be riding around with you in the car, and eating wiring or whatever else they need to gnaw on to grind down their constantly growing teeth...

    Charging in the cold

I did find here that it does say charging should be scheduled based on departure time. I guess I will have to give that a shot. https://www.tesla.com/support/winter-driving-tips And you can choose a departure time without the precondition option.
  33. mknmike

    Charging in the cold

This seems to have morphed into a conversation about scheduled departure and whether it should take care of charging for us. I had no idea that is something Tesla is supposed to do for us. Is it?

Determining most efficient charge rate 2023 M3 RWD LFP

    A) Peak power spikes are bad for grid and add to Peak Load Calculation on my bill. Charging at the max for my vehicle, 32 amps creates spikes. So I want to bring this down. B) Charging in colder temps requires battery heating, and I believe I read that 300 W is consumed by the car any time...

FYI: 235/45/18 Hankook Ventus S1 AS Soundabsorber vs standard

I wanted not only a full size spare, but the ability to try and shred tires without concern of blowing money. So instead of just buying one extra wheel and tire, I bought two refurbed wheels on eBay, two used tires on eBay, and two TPMS from AliExpress. I finally mounted them up. I knew that...

HVAC Auto mode- who came up with that garbage?

I learned that if you have your seat heaters on “Auto” and the air temp on LO, the seat heaters will shut off. I didn’t realize the two were connected. So that’s another item I now run on manual mode. 3 bacon strips warns me up, but I need to turn it down manually. I do like the seat heater...

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

So, did you get a Point of Sale $7500 credit in the 2024 style? I thought to get a 2023 credit, you need to take delivery in 2023. So this is an interesting case. I think the 2024 fed $7500 applies to either 2023-2024 when it comes to long range. SR is just 2024 now apparently.

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

So here we are in February, and I see that fed tax credits need to be worked out at the point of sale, and Tesla is not advertising anything on their website about it. They aren’t taking any orders on M3 Performance either. The EPA / FuelEconomy site says 2023-2024 M3 Performance does qualify...

24 Model 3 SR "Highland" review from an enthusiast's POV

Since the LFP batteries are less dense, isn’t it only the RWD SR cars that are getting them? And then the Federal $7500 is dropped or cut in half because they are sourced in China? OT: I grabbed a 2023 LFP RWD SR (with stalks) while the $7500 was still available. EDIT: I see the dual-motor...

Defrost / Defog: Just want fan

We ended up supercharging in Weehawken where I found a 12 stall charger just a few miles (or less?) west of the Lincoln tunnel. We arrived with 23-24% but all stalls were full right after someone nearly crashed into us to get into the last spot as we were casually pulling into the area. This...

Model 3 RWD Purchased November 2023

Drove about 110 miles from home and figured we would have plenty left of the 271 mile range to find a supercharger on our way home today. I didn’t anticipate range being down to ~75 miles and will need to find one pretty quickly on our way home. Navigating to the ones that I found in the...

Defrost / Defog: Just want fan

Yes. That’s why I was sure to note it. I understand that. Nothing to do with AC, having intentionally left sentry mode on while the car was valeted, it looks like we will get our cab with as low as maybe 75 miles of range, and need to get out of NYC and find a supercharger. The garage it’s...

Defrost / Defog: Just want fan

I think our trip today was only about 108 miles, but our 271 range is only about 105 miles left at our destination even with mount using any AC. I did have temp set at about 63-65 most of the trip with fan speeds between 1 and 5. Will need to supercharge on way home tomorrow. Highway speed...

Defrost / Defog: Just want fan

Today is the first “road trip” in the Tesla, 2 hours and 20 minutes in the car with 5 people. We talked about maybe taking a different vehicle and still can, but it’s charged to 100% and ready to go. Tomorrow we will drive home in rain. So this will be a good test to see just how much AC is...

    Project Redwood (Compact Crossover)

The ~$10k the government is providing for a model 3 puts the current price tag as low as $25k. HVAC Auto mode- who came up with that garbage?

I realize this is an old thread and not for model 3, but assume the software is similar. It took me a while with the help of others to figure out that the defrost button is not my friend, and manually controlling the climate control is not all that hard (if you stay away from that button)...
