Front facing camera heating element on while parked despite Sentry disabled

So, during driving there is no way to activate this heating zone? It seems Tesla need “tuning”: - separate switcher for mirrors heater; - separate switcher for heater of front cameras. I hope I won’t come to adding manual switcher

Front facing camera heating element on while parked despite Sentry disabled

Does anyone have some additional info regarding how to activate front cameras heating during driving? I have 2022 EU LR and this “feature” seems doesn’t work at all. I got a lot messages “front camera blocked or blinded”. I consider to put there silica gel and try to seal it (when it will be...

Wireless charging of smartphone is slow

My wild guess is that they have "Qi" and provide 5-15W, but iPhone (even the newest) can take only 5-7.5W I'd say these are rather "supporters" than chargers. And it's OK)

Wireless charging of smartphone is slow

iPhone can take only 7.5W via Qi, so it takes around 100 minutes to charge your phone. Tesla M3 can provide up to 15W according to the manual (I have M3 2022):

Anyone else’s headlight beams look like this?

I'm wondering if the "gap" on my left side is OK? The right side doesn't have any gap at all! Overall, I don't have any complaints about the light, but still this is a little bit annoying.

Steering Wheel Modes (effort settings) difference

Built-in consumption graph. It sounds absurd, but after I switched on "Standard" mode the average decreased from 152 to 150 Wh/km. Yeah, there are dozens of possible reasons for that, but the placebo effect was instant) I feel the same way. But I still want to try to check it.
  7. melvladimir

Steering Wheel Modes (effort settings) difference

Yeah, it's true. I think the same way. But, maybe since I have lane control and use autopilot a lot (I guess more than 90% of the freeway drive, and line change is manual) "Sport" mode increases consumption. It looks ridiculous. But I have to double-check. I'll have a long ride, so I'll try...

Steering Wheel Modes (effort settings) difference

Don't have any proof yet, but I suspect the "Sport" mode is a little bit more consumptive (~2%). Returned back to "Standard". It is really difficult to measure it.

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

I want to see the real field testing before I believe this statement. My M3LR 2022 has a range of 567 km (355 miles) and it is the real range at a speed of 100 km/h (and soon I'll try that, with AC on and some music. I need to travel 551 km). They removed the side "air intakes" - I don't believe...

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

Yeah, I saw it. Still, I want to see some real empirical tests of very low SoC, that it doesn't affect capacity/power.
  11. melvladimir

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

For how long you have been doing this? Did you test your battery capacity at the very beginning? It's very interesting to have empirical results because I read very skeptical opinions regarding below 20% SoC.
  12. melvladimir

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

Yeah. I turned it on when I had a long trip (502 km) as you explained earlier, to check when I would have to decrease the speed because I started from 110 km/h. For about 300 km I drove at 110 km/h, then I switched to 100 km/h and the final 150 km was mixed speed, mostly ~70 km/h and consumption...

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

Yes, you are right! I added Aero caps, switched wheels in settings, and forgot about it)

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

Finally, I charged it to 100%: it showed 567 km. It's a little weird: the first photo was taken June 10, 2023 (previous owner, 3000 km ago) it was 551km, and the second - I did it on August 25: 567 km.

Has anybody filled the gaps between glass panels and glass/roof with black silicon?

I guess so, but I think it reduced by around 3dB. And two fewer points where ice can hold
  16. melvladimir

Has anybody filled the gaps between glass panels and glass/roof with black silicon?

Maybe. Now I know how to do it right, but I've already done it) I think a rubber spatula is not the right tool and it is better to use a plastic spatula to keep the same level and better removing of silicon

I finally found roof shades that for M3 2021!

At noon I feel the sun on my head and this is not comfortable at all. We don't have such extremely hot weather, but 30-36*C (86-95*F) is very hot for me. And this is not about keeping a parked car cooler - I can switch on pre-cooling or "keep cooling" and it makes the interior comfortable, this...

Auto wipers on in autopilot when it's not raining

I applied rain repellent on the windshield and got problems with the wipers. Then I cleaned the windshield with anti-silicon (actually, I was removing glue from a masking tape after filling the gap between the glass with black silicon) and it helped. So, try to clean the area with anti-silicon...

I finally found roof shades that for M3 2021!

I wanted to try a sun shield too, so I built a plastic frame and used a piece of an emergency heat screen and it works great! Even though I can see the sun there is no heat from it and I had to raise up temperature because it has become cold :) It is only a prototype, I want to upgrade it into...

The perfect Model 3 emergency jack?

And this is with normal tire? So with a flat tire, it will be ~80mm
  21. melvladimir

The perfect Model 3 emergency jack?

I consider using either the jacking socket or placing it under the lower control arm
  22. melvladimir

The perfect Model 3 emergency jack?

I'm going to buy such jack. The minimal height is ~100mm, so will it fit under M3 with a flat tire?

Has anybody filled the gaps between glass panels and glass/roof with black silicon?

One more drawback, a small one: silicon holds sand better than glass, so these lines look more "sandy" and dirtier than panels. But they are washed fine.
  24. melvladimir

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

I want to ask again if I understand this correctly: it is better to charge 100% than 80%? Or this is for old Panasonic NCA and for LG another pattern? Also, I saw this pic: And here we have another pattern. A little bit of background to my question: winter is coming and it is a high...

Has anybody filled the gaps between glass panels and glass/roof with black silicon?

Tried to compare results, the weather was I guess similar to the previous test run, and traffic was a little bit different but I was able to keep 100 km/h on the same road section. The phone was "held" by the right sun visor. In my opinion: a little bit better than it was before

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I guess you have heavy feet) Or maybe you don't use recuperation as much as you can. BTW, somehow it's more tricky than I expected, still learning. Here are my results (summer tires Michelin Primacy 4+ 18" with aero caps, 3.1bar): 100 km/h constant speed is slightly better than the estimation...

Or just create a new profile and switch it on when she drives Tesla. I did that for my friends, sometimes they drive my Tesla.

Has anybody filled the gaps between glass panels and glass/roof with black silicon?

Couldn't measure the effect today due to very windy weather, but the placebo effect is definitely present) I made a mistake doing this: didn't remove the masking tape right after filling or after 30 minutes (better try somewhere what is the best option for your silicon, sometimes it's ok to...

Has anybody filled the gaps between glass panels and glass/roof with black silicon?

Which mud flaps do you use?

Recently I installed the following mud flaps (ordered from AliExpress, ~14$). They are almost invisible and if you see them - they look great! But less protective than the original (I guess). Installation takes 15 minutes. Very easy.

Steering Wheel Modes (effort settings) difference

Does anyone know if there is any difference in power consumption among these modes? And what mode is better from the point of wear of power steering components? I like "Sport", I am used to the heavier steering wheel, so "Sport" is comfortable. But only if it is better in both items above. I...

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

It either made the wipers insane or I applied Ran Repellent in the wrong way) Tomorrow I gonna try to wash the repellent off because I'll need new wipers very soon.

M3P Auto wipers on when in Autopilot normal? [yes]

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

I don't get it... This is storage degradation, but what about active use degradation? When power usage is more than 50%: is it better with SoC 50% or 80%? And graphs said that, for example, 5% SoC is nice, but I saw warnings "Do not drop SoC below 20% too often or it will lead to degradation".

Tesla Model 3 (AWD) - Tire

Although, it doesn't mean that rear tires wear faster. Front wheels by default worn more quickly than the rear, because of steering and slightly different angles. This is what I saw on rear-drive cars. Of course. except for "burnouts" and using the handbrake often to make tight turns.
  37. melvladimir

    What tires are you running?

For the summer season, I bought Michelin Primacy 4+ (235/45 R18). But I can't compare it to anything. I like how they hold my Tesla on the road and their traction ability

But they had the same batteries, as I know, due to the same dual motor (and acceleration boost option). I can't quickly find what I watched, but I focused on EU LR versions 2021-2022 (and had doubts regarding 2022 due to Rizen, which has 5% more consumption than Atom), and had been choosing...

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

Strange, I watch a lot of videos (and read info) that starting from 2021 LR AWD received an 82kWh battery. Also watched several tests, and they got 78kWh 100->0%, and that was the reason why I choose M3 instead of Polestar 2 Performance. Maybe I'll do some testing later, But I know that will be...

What Percent is Your Tesla Charged to While at Home?

Checked. Now the suggestion is 50-80%. So they just "stole" about 50 km between recommended charges. Also, I hate how they calculate "Since Charge" and others: I spent about 7%*0.75 = 5.25kW, so it should be 5,25 kWh / 24 km = 219 Wh/km

I was surprised how it really can be "isn't clean but looks ok")) Had to put cleaning foam twice! Received an update today and now Tesla suggests for a daily using mode the charging up to "80%" instead of "90%". So I'll stick to it. But now I'm not sure about the starting point. It's not a problem to change more often, but also I'm not sure that 50%->80% is better than 30%->80%, or even...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Traded Model 3 for new Model Y

There are several limitation: 1. The weight of the trailer. If it is more than 750kg (1650lb) you have to have BE driver's license (or CE, for trucks and big VANs) 2. The towing weight of the vehicle should not be exceeded 3. Speed limit for towing - 80 km/h (50 mph)
