    Ohmman's Airstream Adventures

I've been towing an R-POD with my 90D since spring last year and was thinking on a possible upgrade for range. With all the recent talk of the Tesla pickup, I'm leaning to wait a few more years and get that one for towing instead and leave the X as family car when not towing. @ohmman, Nice to...

Model X 90kWh battery pack degradation

I dont think 72A will make much difference. I've done it a few times. This is only 10% charge rate of what the car takes at the SC. I've seen it happen almost everytime. It appears that charging at high Amp rate somehow inflates the voltage faster and make the BMS think the battery is full but...

Love this layout. the 2 corner chargers allows for some ICEing!! Open sided charger even allows charging with a trailer attached if both spaces are free.. very nice (read like Borat).

Tesla Ranks Last in Dealership Mystery Shopping Survey

Before I placed the order for my X90D in 2016 I visited BMW and Audi dealerships to test drive their comparable SUVs. Despite an appointment at Bellevue Audi, I couldnt find anyone that could even greet me for 15 mins. Salesguy at Bellevue BMW was trying hard to avoid giving me a test drive of...

    Wiki Model 3 delivery estimator

Wishful thinking my friend... LiIon batteries cant keep up with demand. Tesla has the best shot at fulfilling demand among all. Nissan will devour any inventory available. Model 3 is old news. The semi keeps the stock ticking up.

$35k base $5k autopilot $5k premium features $1k paint $1k doc fee = ~50 with sales tax and no tax deduction. The only truly optional part is the premium feature. If I were to spend 45k on a car, I will add the premium features for an extra 5k. Buying a Tesla without Autopilot is beyond me.

This will go into the books as a greedy move for Tesla. Nevertheless, this move is setting Tesla for profitability that Elon spoke about in the conf call today. Without a doubt some will drop their reservation but the robust demand for LR will keep the bottom line unaffected for the next few...

Double vision (ghosting) at night through windshield?

So I took my Apr 2016 build Model X (AP1) for windshield replacement and they put "MX WSHLD ASSEMBLY MONO-CAM HWAK4D-3 (1066747-01-C)". Driving back from the service center I already noticed ghosting. I wish I read this thread in detail so I would have known to ask for the right part number...

Tesla's 85 kWh rating needs an asterisk (up to 81 kWh, with up to ~77 kWh usable)

Not to beat a dead horse, but my personal observations of my Mx 90D led me to conclude that the usable capacity on my 90D MX is around 78kWh as well. I havent had a chance to do a non-stop run from 100% at a relatively steady and low highway speed with just me in the car on a somewhat normal...

Can I keep the driver door from auto-presenting with the fob?

If I remember this right, just press the lock button on the fob as you are approaching the car and the car will not autopresent the door. My worry would be that I'd forget to do that. For that reason I have left it turned off eventhough I love this feature.

    Brake squealing?

Happens on mine routinely after some rain and sometimes even with no rain. I checked with service, they first burnished it, then replaced the rotors to the new version - still makes noise. Service said thats something I may have to live with - and that its not un-common in heavy cars. For now I...

    Model X: Brakes when Reversing

I've been having this issue with my Model X for the past few months. They replaced both front rotors and the noise seemed to alleviate for a week. But after few weeks now, it is back to the original levels. In my case, I hear the noise even braking moving forward. Anyone else experiencing this...

Can you keep the 12V outlets on when the car is off?

I turned off the energy saving option and noticed that the driver side 12V outlet remained on after several hours. But the energy saving option helptext seems to imply that the car will automatically enable the energy saving features in the nighttime.

Is Model X's efficiency really this bad?

Today I forgot to turn on the climate control for the most part of my drive to work and not too surprisingly the average draw was around 330 wh/mile. Temps outside today was similar to yesterday just no rain today. Yesterday it was 450ish wh/mile. Clearly the climate control made a huge...

Is Model X's efficiency really this bad?

wk057, I've been ranting about the poor range of my X90D in a few other threads. Like for my dialy commutes in the Seattle area, I've been averaging upper 400 wh/mile this winter... which is pretty bad. I set the cabin at 70F and drive between 30mins to an hour. That said over the first...

For a techie that was meticulously tracking my leaf battery with an OBDII scanner before buying a Tesla, I was stumped by the range of my Model X as well. Heater appears to consume way too much power than one would imagine. My daily commutes in Seattle winter weather (mid 30s to mid 40s)...

Good point. When 1 SC stall fails, there is atleast 3 more in an SC setup which likely work. With Chademos there is usually only 1 especially with the AV run stations. When doing trips with the family 98% reliability of charging stations is not good enough. With Tesla SCs the reliability is near...

90D Battery seems much smaller than rated..

I have raised this exact issue with my service center a couple of months ago and they did some tests and reported that my battery was doing very well when compared to the fleet. At that time I was averaging 370 Wh/Mile (June to October). Now I am routinely averaging 470Wh/Mile. My understanding...

My Model-X resale value just dropped significantly

I did a comp of my car to the inventory and a bit surprised the price of slightly less featured cars on the inventory are about the same as my cost. What is the Wh/mile number to achieve Rated Range on an X?

Model X drawing 327 Wh/mile has been explained around here. What is still open and infact concerning is the available battery capacity. 257 rated miles at 328 Wh/mile equates to 84 kWh available capacity. I'd love to see datapoints on people being able to use this full capacity. As I've been...

    X: What's your 90%?

My recent observation with the SoC (% remaining rating) seems to indicate that it is not working very well. I am still doing some experiments but it looks like to me that the miles remaining estimate by the car at 90% can easily misguide someone by 10 to 20% inflated ratings than what is really...

    Degredation of battery?

Thanks for the link, I will read. Fair point. From my measurements and also confirmed by several others at TMC, the vampire drain amounts to about 50W. In my test run of 60hrs, that should account for about 3kWh. That still leaves quite a few kWh unexplained. So I did run the battery down to...

    Degredation of battery?

Can you highlight any threads that discuss this specifically? I recently ran the car from 100% to 2% and got 199.5 miles. The car averaged 357Wh/mile for this run and if I say the remaining 2% will yield another 5 miles (rated range), I am looking at 204 miles at 357 Wh/mile. That is like 73kWh...

    X: What's your 90%?

I decided to trigger the recalibration of charge counter. Ran the battery to 4%, started a 32 amp charge to 100% which would also start the rebalancing. X: What's your 90%?

As a routine, I charge my car to 80% and run it down to 50% before I charge again to 80%. This is been happening for a few weeks now. On the "Since last charge" trip tracker, I tend to see something like 7 to 7.5 KWH draw when the SoC drops every 10%. For example, from 80 to 70 I will see 7 to...

Is anyone else hating the auto door open upon keyfob unlock?

How long would the AC have to run to get the cabin to a reasonable temperature (say 85) from 100? Thanks for the fixes Rocky. I fully agree that a bunch of stalls probably see just 1 or 2 spots occupied at any given time. Pet and Cargo protector for the back area

I am looking for a way to put a rigid barrier right behind the 2nd row so cargo does not keep hitting the second row back. While these liners may help avoid scratches, something rigid may provide better protection from sharp cargo edges. If someone has a way for this, please share.

I'm ready for Tesla to do a step change on SuperCharger power/energy delivery

As more and more Tesla go on the road, we are at the verge of SCs getting to full utilization. Reminds me of the day when sometimes I used to...

One thing I've learned in the last few years is that this is no consolation when you feel deceived. No one expects and can be prepared for a brand new car to have such a failure. In OP's case, he even thought his production date suggested that his was built after the first perfect X rolled out...
