Suitable rear camera for 2016.5 Model S 1061269-00-D

I installed a Thinkware Q1000 front and rear dash cam package on my 2015 MS. That thing is awesome! If you have a data plan, you can connect it to their Thinkware Connected software and monitor your car from anywhere. It needs a wifi hotspot to do so though. I have not tried to use the wifi in...

Suitable rear camera for 2016.5 Model S 1061269-00-D

Good to know the camera can be replaced without running the wire all the way back to the main screen. I had to do that to install a rear dash cam and it was quite a bit of work.

OTA upgrade on MCU1 today just messed up my car. Looking for insight

Well, they finally called to tell me that the instrument cluster was failing and previous updates were masking this. They gave two options: 1) replace IC for $1500 or 2) upgrade to MCU2 for $1750. Outraged that we have to pay this amount to fix a perfectly working car before they pushed an...

I’m going to let them tell me that. But I believe the EMMC had already been repaired by previous owner.

    Right Headlight Malfunction Detected

2015 S 85D. Just wanted to report the same error just popped up for right headlight but the headlight is actually working. Turning lights off and on will clear the error but error message came right back after a few miles of driving, still with working lights. This comes up while I’m waiting...

    "Defective" 2022.8.10.15 software update

OP. What did you end up doing? I got an update on my 2015 MS on MCU1 and having similar issues. We were having no issues at all with MCU1 prior to this update and we do not have Sentry. Just curios as to what you did or what Tesla offered.

OTA upgrade on MCU1 today just messed up my car. Looking for insight

Thanx for the tip. I entered Service Mode but I don't see anything pertaining to the last software update. I see where I can reinstall some software though. Just not sure what the available software packages are and afraid of damaging it further. I'll have a look at it again later today. Thanx.

OTA upgrade on MCU1 today just messed up my car. Looking for insight

So, we have a 2015 85D still on MCU1 that was working just fine with the exception of a very slow browser we weren't using anyway. Never really saw software upgrades for the car before but I got an alert that one was available. So it took it. When we got back in the car the instrument cluster...

    Salvage Car Owners Support Group.

I find it hard to believe there is no SKF equivalent that can be ordered locally. I used to repair servo motors and we would just measure it, get the specs, and call a supplier and order what we needed. What is so special about this seal that it has to come from Ukrainian? EDIT: I just read the...

Bubbling instrument cluster - need to replace glass?

Option 2 looks like a good option if you’re not interested in MCU2 upgrade. If you have the technical skills, it’s a pretty straightforward process that does not involve dealing with glue. As for screen protectors, I don’t really see why this would be necessary since you don’t touch the...

    Sentry Mode Replacement

I installed a 2 channel Thinkware dash cam setup using Teslatap resource. It was very good information. I do wish I could actually see the footage or live cameras on the screen of the car, but nothing exists for video input. The dash cam is superior to Sentry in security function though.

Installed a Thinkware Dashcam with Switched 12V wired to get proper Parking Mode on 2015 MS.

Why is the wire coming from the seats? That would drive me nuts. Someone would pull it out and break the camera. Here are my pics:

You mean have the wire exposed? That would drive me crazy but it could be done that way.

Installed a Thinkware Dashcam with Switched 12V wired to get proper Parking Mode on 2015 MS.

I realized that the red wire with white stripe i used for my switched 12v source is actually a spare circuit with a 15a fuse at location F33 in the front fuse box to the right facing the car for nosecone models.

No TPMS Values (Not even blank values) Displayed

I just wanted to add to this thread for future reference. My issue was the same with flashing tire. F47 was in fact the blown fuse that resulted in TPMS not working, as well as OBD2 port, and glove box light. I found a few fuse box diagrams but none of them mentioned the TPMS in the fuse...

Installed a Thinkware Dashcam with Switched 12V wired to get proper Parking Mode on 2015 MS.

First of all, why is there no tech, audio/video, electronics, modifications or any type of sub forum for the Model S? This forum has all the information you need but it's scattered all over the place! We could really use a bit more organization. Anyway, I want to share my experience. I could...

Anyone do an aftermarket dash cam install utilizing 12v constant and switched 12v in older Model S?

I didn’t know the Blackvue worked that way. Oh well, I’ve already purchased the camera. I just don’t need all that footage when parked. I’ll check out that link. Thanx.

Anyone do an aftermarket dash cam install utilizing 12v constant and switched 12v in older Model S?

I have a 2015 and I'm going to go with a Thinkware F790 2 channel setup. I like the fact that it goes into low power parking mode when switched 12v is off. This will allow cameras to only record if motion is sensed around the car and or an impact. I know there's a 12v constant source above the...

With MCU2 HW1, any way to play video from a USB drive from aftermarket dash cam?

I’m still on MCU1 on my 2015 S85. We are considering upgrading to MCU2 if we can actually get some value out of it. I know I can’t get Sentry mode on my old hardware so I am shopping for an aftermarket dashcam from either Blackvue or Thinkware to be hardwired. I like the small units without a...

Large Drive Unit issue in Model S. Is this unit also used in Model Y?

I've read quite a bit about the issue with the LDU rotor shaft seal failure which allows coolant to enter the electrical portion of the motor in RWD Model S, and Performance models. A friend of mine is shopping for a 2020/21 Model Y. Do they use different motors or some also use the LDU? Was not...

Looking for advice for Model S 2015 or 2016 P90D

We just bough We just bought a 2015 S85D from a Mitsubishi dealership and it came with free super charging and premium connectivity. This did not change after ownership changed over to us In the app. We even took it to Tesla for an annual service.

The downside to this is the older LDU is prone to failure because of the liquid cooling and seal failure.

Trying to identify which rear motor I have on 85D and compatibility

Thank you all. This is what I wanted to hear. Also checked Wikipedia and some other EV sites and they indicated the same; the dual motor cars for my year went with a smaller drive unit for the rear. So I have two smaller drive units. I’m good with that - was worried about that shaft seal leaking...

Trying to identify which rear motor I have on 85D and compatibility

Hello all. We just got a 2015 85D that is about to go out of warranty. Not having any issues with the car besides just replacing a rear half shaft and seal (which was pretty easy), but wanted to learn as much about the drive units as possible. I’ve been reading here and it seems that some units...
