    New location - Cremorne Vic

Probably a crash repair centre, spun off from the main site for extra room.

Go visit the redwood forest and Houpton falls: Google Maps Bit of a dirt track but a model x will handle that easily.

Tesla "Range for Rural Living" Video featuring an Australian

Sounds like this is the 'live with a tesla for a week' deal, so nobody on here probably. Probably around Warragul or thereabouts for the township stuff then footage from out at Loy Yang and up around Noojee or Bunyip state park area for that ferny gravel road.

    Chadstone Store - Closed 24/10/23

Was seeing a movie on the weekend and while parking I noticed Tesla are expanding their charging area behind the store. Currently there are 5(?) carparks but they're for demo cars only. 6 new (extra wide) spots with wall chargers installed and embossed Tesla signage on the carpark pillars are...

    Supercharger in Eastern Victoria

I doubt there will be a supercharger in Eastern Melbourne. If there was, Baxter might be an okay location, on the way down the Mornington and not too much of a detour from the South Gippsland Hwy (Cranbourne) for those heading to Phillip Island and Wilson's Promontory. But to get that built it'd...

    Chadstone Store - Closed 24/10/23

That is just a mockup of a supercharger, they are in most (all?) stores. So the staff can explain the supercharger network.

    Chadstone Store - Closed 24/10/23

The largest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere and also central Sydney? Nah, pretty smart. Huuuuge potential customerbase and also brand awareness. Brisbane will get a turn eventually, but with a 5m population city (both Syd and Melb) having a store in the busy places first makes...

    Chadstone Store - Closed 24/10/23

The new wing of Chadstone opened today, with a lot of new stores and even more stores relocating from other areas of the shopping centre. This means that Tesla has upgraded from a static display located outside of Myer which has existed for a bit over a year now, to their own storefront on the...

    Australian Supercharger network

Oh sure. I'm just saying that with 4-6 more superchargers you've got Victoria done and dusted, maybe some infill locations in a decade depending on the uptake of the model 3 and future cars but most of the other areas would be served well with destination chargers.

    Australian Supercharger network

Parkes would work better because of the crossroads, although it is only 120km from Dubbo; it'd also end up being moot if Orange or Bathurst got a supercharger IMO. With the SA route (including Ballarat), you could easily cover most of Vic with a few more supercharger locations: Lorne &...

Adelaide - Keith: 226km Keith - Mt Gamier: 210km Keith - Horsham: 201km Horsham - Ballarat: 194km (Ballarat - Melbourne: 114km) All acceptable ranges, no real need for infill for years/ever. Possibility down the line: Horsham - Warrnambool: 228km Warrnambool - Mt. Gambier: 182km Warrnambool -...

Spotted in Australia and New Zealand

Saw 4 today on the roads, one this morning from a distance going to opposite direction, white. Then at 3:30 on Elgar Road I saw 'Megha' and a minute later on Wattletree Rd I saw a white one but only got a partial plate, 'AFW-xxx' and 10 minutes later on Warrigal Rd I saw a black Model S with the...

Spotted in Australia and New Zealand

Not dumping suitcases I hope. I spotted a 1DE-??? White tesla this afternoon on Beach Road (melb) I assume it is already in there and I didn't catch the rest of the plate as we were traveling in different directions.

Spotted in Australia and New Zealand

Spotted a green Tesla driving southbound on Tooronga Road in Hawthorn East at 3:50pm yesterday (grand final eve) No plates, was coming towards me so I passed it pretty quick. An older gent was driving it.

    Supercharger - Gundagai NSW

Interesting, probably where those bricks are, out of the way from the back of the place so trucks can still get to those tanks, currently unused. Longer construction time could mean they will seal the area too.

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

Japan has the Shinkansen, we don't. Car travel is an option here between cities for trips where flying doesn't work (full car load?) but there isn't any real alternative, Japan probably has less of a driving holiday culture too. I meant temporary as in it is a 'portable' supercharger on a...

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

Interesting stopgap. I guess we can expect a proper location somewhere in town sometime down the road, unless Tesla are willing to go back on their no-petrol station stops ideal. Sure it has facilities but I didn't think they liked truck stops. Odd that they didn't put this in a month ago for...

    Supercharger - Goulburn NSW

No wooden enclosure? That shiny metal finish won't last long.

    Supercharger - Goulburn NSW

Cheaper to build (no need to rip up asphelt or repour concrete gutters) and as mentioned, slightly less chance of being backed into.

    Tesla in Australia

I noticed that the other week, it is now a proper 'outside display' with the information booth under the escalators, a computer on that desk for people to browse the tesla website and quite a few staff on hand, all are contractors I believe other than Matthew and someone else doing test drives...

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

My thought is a full car of 4 or 5 people with ski gear on the roof etc, I'm sure the range would drop a bit with a full load. Seymour isn't the destination, it is the halfway point to northern Victoria from Melbourne, or something like towing a boat up the the Murray river in a Model X. Sure if...

    Victorian Destination Chargers expanding

I won't be owning a Tesla until after the Model 3 is released, so someone tell James to try get a destination charger or two down at Tidal River in Wilson's Promontory in the next few years. It'd be in the national park so I guess it'd require it's own Solar power, unless a deal was done with...

    Australian Supercharger network

It is easier to drive around the UK than it is to drive around Australia. There are more SCs there because they will get more use, even if number of cars sold is similar. Because it is easier to drive around Britain because of the size and density, means they will be used more often, how many...

    Victorian Destination Chargers expanding

True, but not all of the energy, if there were a destination charger or two at both Hotham and Falls Creek that'd allow for day trips at least, park your car and charge for a few hours then move it elsewhere in the carpark. Just something to top up Of course a SC at Bright would be the best...

    Victorian Destination Chargers expanding

They did a demo day ta Torquay for RACV members last month, they also filmed that short One Billion Miles video on the great ocean road that weekend. Really need some destination chargers up at the snow ASAP, about to hit peak season. Carparks at Falls and Hotham would be good for owners.

New Tesla video looks to be shot in Australia

Yup, they really need a super charger in Apollo Bay (197km & 3 hours from Tesla supercharger in Cremorne), that'd open up that whole region and make almost the entire GOR drivable, although you'd probably want a destination charger or two in both Portland, Port Fairy and Warrnambool for those...

Tesla 1 Billion Miles video | Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia

Not sure if it is fine to post this here, but in case anybody was wondering, the recent Tesla promo video for the OneBillionMiles campaign was filmed along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. Specifically the segment of road crossing the George River, just outside the town of Lorne, if...

New Tesla video looks to be shot in Australia

Great Ocean Road. Tesla had an event down at the RACV resort last weekend, test drives along the GOR etc, guess they filmed a bit too. This footage is crossing the George River, heading west along the GOR: Google Maps I always thought they should film an ad along there, 12 Apostles, general...

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

Pretty sure Tesla don't want anything to do with Petrol company owned service stations. Sure, you could still have it within the town which is close to the road but Seymour offers a lot more shops and services which would be more likely to be open later, being the larger town and is only 3...

    Tesla in Australia

So, how is that Melbourne service centre party going? Anybody there? I don't own a Tesla so instead I just got back from seeing Mad Max IV, no electric vehicles in there, just high-octaine internal (and often external) combustion engines. Perhaps Mad Max is a good Tesla film, shows you what...

    Superchargers in Australia

Seymour is also the intersection of the N-S and E-W routes, while Avenel is right on the highway for the N-S route you have to make a detour and backtrack if you are headed to Shepparton or perhaps heading east towards Lake Eildon or Mt Bulla and want to go via Seymour to top up.

    Supercharger - Richmond VIC

A birthday present, sadly I don't own a Tesla. It'll be good to see more of them on the roads though, now they'll have a place to show them off and sell them in person.

Spotted in Australia and New Zealand

Spotted a white Tesla with the plates 'NTESLA' on North Road, turning into a sidestreet near Oasis Bakery, Murrumbeena at about 9:10am. At 9:30 I saw a grey Tesla on Huntingdale Road near High Street Road in Ashwood, driving the other direction, didn't see the plates.

    Superchargers in Australia

Planning takes the longest time. Paperwork, back and forth with contractors, council, landowners etc. Once a site is nailed down it should only take a couple of months to get materials to the location and get it underway.

    Tesla in Australia

Driveby photos of the Richmond shop. All new ground floor walls, added structural supports and added glass 'sheets' rather than the original glass frames every two meters or so, looks a lot nicer. Only four supercharger bays (at least on the south half of that parking area) where there used to...

    Tesla in Australia

No, Tesla don't have a sales license in Victoria yet. Which is why at the Chadstone display they cannot talk about pricing or warrenties, but they can tell people is is "similar in cost to a *competitor car*" and tell people to view the website which has all the details. It'll be resolved soon...

Can't fold the rear seats down though, although I'm sure that isn't a deal breaker for most given the additional froot storage compared to a normal car.

    EVs in Australia (non Tesla)

Telsa were probably just recruiting them because they knew they would be looking for work in a couple of years anyway when three companies close their doors. This is a concept car, so it is probably just new body ontop of a chevy volt chassis and not what it'd be if it ever reaches production...

    EVs in Australia (non Tesla)

Making this thread as not to clutter up the Tesla in Australia thread. Also somewhere to discuss things like the Leaf or Volt etc. Or even other types of electric vehicles, like golf carts :p Well, one of my hopes came true, not how I imagined anyway. We now have and Australian designed and...
