Service center damaged my Model S

Ouch, that is way off. I agree with you, this damage on a new car is unacceptable. Even if they repair it to new, there is still the issue of diminished value. How much less is your car worth now that it has had body work? Will it show on your CarFax report? One poster said no big deal, car...

Anyway to turn off radio etc when opening the door?

I Agree with you and posted about this when I first got my M3. Tesla should switch the on/off function from the doors to the weight sensor in the driver seat. That sensor is already there for the airbags and seatbelt warning. That way the car comes alive when you sit down and turns off when you...

What income to afford a Plaid?

If this question is because you want to buy a Model S or X, what you are asking suggests that you should be looking at something less expensive.

Can anyone tell me why the stay unlocked at home setting is not happening?

Thanks for your replies. Our address was not entered in the navigation under her profile. Works now

Can anyone tell me why the stay unlocked at home setting is not happening?

Not sure I'm following you. Do you mean when she first set up her profile? I've gone thru her phone and checked the setting in the car and the box under Autolocking is checked "Exclude Home". If she uses the navigation while driving under her profile, the car knows where "Home" is. Why wouldn't...

Can anyone tell me why the stay unlocked at home setting is not happening?

Our 2023 Model 3 is set up to stay unlocked when parked in our garage. It works fine when I drive the car (I am set up as the primary driver) but when my wife drives the car under her profile, the car locks when parked in our garage. I've checked the settings on our phones and the car under both...

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

That, actually, is my issue with it. The port doesn't open by touch when parked in my garage (unlocked) while the car is sleeping. I have to "wake it up" by either: using the app, use a Tesla charger with unlock button (don't have), or as I do, open and shut the rear door to wake the car up...

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

AAA raised my rate 800.00 for the year over my previous 2018 Chevy Volt. No claims, no changes in coverage. Funny thing is, the Volt was a much more complex car with both an EV and a ICE drivetrain. Seems like it would cost more to repair, but we've all heard the stories of how expensive these...

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

Well said. Even if they did get the cameras to work as well as radar/USS, they can't react to what they can't see. There is a huge blind spot in front of the car due to the lack of a bumper camera. The Highlander update is an awesome improvement and I would probably sell my '23 and buy one...

Not sure I'm enjoying my MY after 8 months

Yeah, they remove stuff that works like ultrasonic sensors, radar and turn signal/drive selector stalks. But hey, now we'll have cool ambient lighting and a rear screen so the kiddos can play fart sounds!

Quick or easy ways to remove a J1772 connector (with adapter)?

If the car is NOT currently charging and the car is sleeping, regardless if it is locked or unlocked, you have to use either the touchscreen or app to unlock the port. If the car IS charging, it will unlock when you push the charge interrupt button on the J1772. At this point, hold the adapter...

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

Every time it's happened has been on the freeway in very light traffic. Most recently late at night with nearly no one on the road. The car suddenly slowed from a set speed of 74 down to about 60 and then back up to the set speed. No other cars anywhere near me.

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

I am not using Autopilot, it's the "vision based" safety system that is the problem. I turned off Lane Keeping because the car made some scary sudden movements for no reason. One time it inexplicably swerved towards the center divider. Turned it off after that. The cruise control will suddenly...

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

I guess they're just not dimming enough to cut the glare for me. We have a 7 year old Lexus and the mirror dimming works great on that car. But then again, so do the parking sensors, cross traffic alert and cruise control. Part of my frustration with the wipers was that I couldn't control them...

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

I don't have a Tesla charger, they don't supply one with the car. I am using an Emporia charger that works very well, but no magic button for the charge port.

Scheduled charging versus off peak end

I was being facetious. The car should have the ability to control all aspects of charging, even without an OEM charger. I won't mention the fact that, unlike every other manufacturer, Tesla does not supply an OEM charger with the electric car they sell.

Not sure I'm enjoying my MY after 8 months

I am about 3 months and a 1,000 miles into my M3 and I agree completely. Shocked at how bad the safety features are on this car. Nothing fun about a car that suddenly veers into the center divider or brakes randomly while driving at 70 mph. Camera based vision is garbage also. Bought my 23 for...

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

I have great admiration for what Elon and his teams of engineers have achieved at Tesla and SpaceX, but I am very disappointed in some of the high-tech features on my car. I knew before buying that the reason for the minimalist design and automation was primarily for cost savings, but I never...

Scheduled charging versus off peak end

I solved the problem by buying a Emporia charger which allows me to control the start, stop and charge rate at will. Super high technology- maybe Tesla engineers should contact them and learn how they do it.

    2023 Model 3SR 1000 mile review

Well, after 1,000 miles and a few months I thought I'd share my opinions of my Model 3. First off, the good: No issues with build quality, other than some debris specks in the clearcoat. Driving dynamics are excellent- the car is fun to drive, quick (even the standard range) and handles well...

New M3 owner- unable to open charge port in garage.

"Walking away without locking the door" is another thing that I would change. The car should have a touch sensor on the door handle like other cars. I'd much rather have confirmation the car is locked before stepping away from it. Here's what happened to me when I first got the car. My wife had...

New M3 owner- unable to open charge port in garage.

A minor annoyance for sure, but extra steps, work arounds, charge port malfunctions, repairs and replacements would all be eliminated with a manual opening charge door. Someone (Elon?) once said the best designed part is no part at all, i.e. the simpler the better. I drove Chevy Volts for the...

New M3 owner- unable to open charge port in garage.

Not sure why someone would want to turn on the music while they're not in the car, but if you want to cool the car, just hit the precondition button on the app. I just think it's silly that the car turns on and off each time I open the doors. I was wiping down the car yesterday and each time I...

New M3 owner- unable to open charge port in garage.

Well if it's to save on standby power, Tesla needs to get their priorities in order. Every time I open the door, the screen lights up, the music starts playing and the air conditioning starts. Massive waste of energy that could be avoided just by using the seat as the wake sensor. When you sit...

Weird. Why automate something just to make it less convenient. Kinda like the glovebox

New M3 owner- unable to open charge port in garage.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the half-press, but it didn't wake the car. I have to push it until the door unlatches, then the car wakes up. I guess Tesla wants people to buy their charger to avoid this inconvenience.

New M3 owner- unable to open charge port in garage.

Hi all, I have a 2023 M3 and have it set to remain unlocked in my garage. I do not have a Tesla charger, so I would like to be able to open the charge port door by hand while parked in the garage. As it is now, I have to open a door to wake the car up before touching the charging port door. Is...

Scheduled charging versus off peak end

As a new M3 owner, I was wondering the same thing. Seems so simple, right? My off peak is 12-6am and I just want to charge during that time. While I'm venting, how about the stupid automated charge port- why isn't it hot all the time or better yet, just mechanical like my Volt was- just push it...

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

Looking at the inventory prices for Model 3 SR and I can't figure out how Tesla is pricing the cars. I see msm with the standard black interior priced higher than msm with white interiors, etc. I bought a msm with white interior about 3 weeks ago for 36,620 (with 500. referral) and haven't seen...
