With multiple reports of the TUWC working with and without HEAD, I have a feeling that HEAD is probably a workaround for a hardware difference. AKA, some hardware needs HEAD to work.

Sent Tesla the ol "very disappointed" email. Checked the connector today and I am updated to firmware HEAD (3CAE3FBA856679)-3cae3fb and it mostly works now! I get one red flash then green charging.

Until a software fix is released, it's less about my personal chargeback and more about caring for customers. I can empathize with software bugs, written my fair share ... but we've given Tesla months to fix, and this thing is still being advertised and sold as a "universal" connector, clearly...

I have asked them to push an update and they haven't. Been through two units. My issue is not hardware. Out of the box, firmware 23.9.0 worked. Updated to 23.24.3 and charging stopped. I am three months into this saga. Charger still doesn't work, and Tesla refuses to refund. I've wasted...

Jumping back into this thread ... I got a TUWC replacement from Tesla a few days back. Installed it just now. Provisioned it in the Tesla Pros app. Plugged it into my Rivian and it immediately worked. Yay! Then, I updated the firmware and it did NOT work. Added the aftermarket adapter and...

This is where the smart money lies. But, also why are some Rivian users reporting that it works? Would that inconsistency speak to software or hardware?

Yeap, ordered the Lectron as well. @cdub and @YYJ-Mike ... Sounds like all of us got bad Tesla Wall Connector units. We shouldn't let Tesla go "radio silent" on this.. We need a fix, or at a minimum, we should get a refund.

Like outside of the 30 day return period? Or you are outside because it was installed? Definitely considering returning mine. I am within 30 days, I can return, right?

Solid troubleshooting @YYJ-Mike Update on my side. TeslaTap arrived, plugged in and it started charging immediately.

FYI - Rivian forums is also tracking this issue here = https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/tesla-universal-wall-connector-home-charger-its-here.18623/ They have folks saying it works for their Rivian. Trying to find the pattern.

I am in the same boat as @asimo3089 and @cdub. Plugged the TUWC into my Rivian EV and nothing ... Maybe Tesla had issues with the J1772 adapter? Ordered a TeslaTap to help diagnose.
