    Improving driving skills

I have a stock RWD3 that will eventually go to one of the boys once the LR Juniper Y’s are on the streets. Would like to get us all some time in a controlled learning environment - thinking autocross or something, but have never done anything like this myself. Any suggestions in general and...

    Black and white seats... regrets?

A little surface cooling on road trips would be appreciated…but, since I’m hitting a charger every 90-120 min, it’s not too bad to live with. Ultimately, will enjoy white ventilated seats in my LR Ultra Red Juniper Y (timing TBD).

    Black and white seats... regrets?

Heck no. Love the white seats…they visually pop!

Help regarding Model Y RWD vs AWD

Glad to hear others felt the same. Wife said I was crazy and just wanted to save the $5000 difference (also—not untrue).

Help regarding Model Y RWD vs AWD

Our RWD Y has a peak charge of 250-IAH and is strong deep into the pack. (my RWD 3 is ~170 peak and quicker drop off…the difference is noticeable to the point that the Y is probably quicker overall on road trips). The missing parcel shelf is $85 on Tesla app. We don’t miss the speakers or...

Has anyone driven both an SR+ and new RWD Model 3?

I try to describe the drive-ability to other mid-life adults as ‘point and shoot’ (dating myself, I know) but they just don’t get it until they drive it. Even my RWD3 is more like a motorcycle as you just get your front end beyond theirs and the ‘spacially-challenged’ they are quickly behind...

    Y to 3 (Highland)

White seats rock...esp. with the grey paint...(I'm definitely biased as this is my daily!)

    What's the best Wh/mi you've seen?

2023 RWD 3. 205 wh/mi @70 mph; 57F; Slight tailwind. No HVAC. 18” arachnid wheel covers. Not sure if this my best at 70 mph, but close.

    Multiple Charging Schedules

I've asked the programmer behind the Stats app to allow for charging the car according to the near-real-time renewables %'age of my grid...Texas has routinely been above 60% renewables for several hours a day for the past couple of months...since I'm on a fixed rate plan, I want to pull as may...

Road Noise; Reducing the Model 3 road noise, primarily from tires and louder on rough highway asphalt

I have convinced myself it was worth it. Maybe placebo effect, but it’s nice to have. Will also be nice for cold days where I have to sit in the bleachers to watch our kid’s sports team. The wife bought this one for the Y for $65. Thinner but wider & longer so she gets more side protection...

    Battery Overcharge - Why? Tessie?

I have accidentally changed the charge level when I put the phone in my pocket and forgot to close the Tesla app first.

Can I keep my car "healthy" w/out Teslafi, Tessie etc?

I’m testing out the Stats app. It also does not wake the car.

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

From what I have been reading, I’ll be keeping my RWD 3 at 30-60% with bi-weekly charge to 100% for BMS reset, followed immediately by some highway miles to bring it down from 100% to the ~ 80% range before putting it back into the garage. The RWD Y w/ NMC chemistry will get similar...

Road Noise; Reducing the Model 3 road noise, primarily from tires and louder on rough highway asphalt

Thanks for the detailed posts! I also find myself with AirPod Pro 2’s in my ears all the time and the higher freq noise cancelling is noticeable. I’m usually listening to podcasts anyway. As for the trunk noise, that is a spring project as you described as I think a weekend’s work will...

Road Noise; Reducing the Model 3 road noise, primarily from tires and louder on rough highway asphalt

Not sure you’d have to remove it to sell if car and noise strips are in good condition. Most people won’t notice or even care.
  17. P

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Why not an AI-driven ‘suggested charge’ based on your driving history & ambient conditions? That would be nice….say 30% is your typical need ( 30% down to 20 ) but on a cold day, the car adds some additional SoC to compensate for low ambient temps. Especially useful if you have L2 because the...

Nice! I got a pair in silver. Now that I check the aliexpress link, I could have a gun grey and silver set for the price I paid...really gotta start looking on aliexpress!

    Driver Seat Seat Extension

I've ordered one of these for my drivers seat...it's driving me crazy!...my i3 seats fit so much better ( Dad-bod, 6', 230 lbs) and no matter how I position the M3 seat back and cushion, I start getting uncomfortable in < 20 minutes with occasional sciatic nerve spikes (which I never got from...

    Spacers!

First timer here...did anyone who put 15mm spacers on the stock 18" rims have to cut their original studs down to make them fit behind the wheel? I just ordered a set from Bonoss.

How is my LFP battery holding up after 2 years?

    Spacers!

Sounds like you guys know your stuff on spacers...I'm looking to make my grey RWD M3 look a little more aggressive on the stock 18" grey rims, but nothing that cost too much or increases wear and tear. Sounds like the 5mm offset front to back works, but trying to decide how much to push them...

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

Yep…the MY seems very much like a LR minus one motor. I’m hoping the S3XY dial will unlock the fog lights on my RWD M3 too. Unfortunately, if I want the included speakers to work, I’m going to have to pop a lot of panels.

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

  29. P

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

Yeah, a daily range of 206 is ok, but a comfortable 100% (indicated) charge to 260 miles with very low degradation will be great. Not that we need it at all, but it will be great anyway to never seriously have to think about range vs degradation. (We’ll probably still keep it around 60%...

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

Yeah, agree. What’s the price to fix one bent hood?

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

This would be great news! Anecdotally, I was supercharging our new Y the other day and was surprised it was still pulling hard at 85%. This would address my wife’s strong dissatisfaction with having to live with ~ 206 miles of max daily range as It would be similar to my former i3. It had a...

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

I’ll probably do this for $60. Sounds like you like the install and the failure mode makes sense — nothing like a hood in your face to ruin the day!

    Stock suspension in RWD 3/Y

Not worried about range…they are city cars mostly. Will take a couple lbs off the rear tires to see how it reacts. Thanks.

    2023 Model Y 25,000 (24,524) Mile Update - Cold Weather Impact

I like your comment about keeping the battery at 50% most of the time. Have heard that somewhere else on the interwebs. That more than anything will probably encourage me to upgrade to 240v home charging in the near future, then, I can quickly add miles to our Y so the wife doesn’t feel...

    Koni Sport (yellow) installed!

Thanks for this. Looking for ideas to soften the rebound in the rear of our new ‘23 RWD 3 & Y.

Will there be a Model Y Long Range RWD?

Maybe when they get access to the M3P battery tech. I think it has +20% range for same volume vs current LFP.

2023 Model 3 Standard range RWD have comfort suspension?

I thought the MY LR was also a stiffer ride than the RWD M3 during our test drives. Now we have RWD of Y and 3…they are pretty close for basic neighborhood duty, close enough that I’d have just gone with a second RWD Y, knowing what I know now.
  39. P

    Stock suspension in RWD 3/Y

The ride in the back seat of our new 2023 RWD 3 & Y is a bit bouncy. Has anyone tried weight in the subtrunk to give the suspension more resistance? If so, did you lock it down somehow or just let it float? We have some weight-lifting plates lying around no one is using. Thinking + 50 lbs...

Thoughts on tire lettering on a Tesla?

Yep, those dust caps made all the difference!🤣 I did replace the standard plastic ones on my 3 with the aftermarket knurled metal ones with obligatory logo on the end. Much better now on closer inspection.

Thoughts on tire lettering on a Tesla?

Gotta say….i wonder how this would look on my grey M3 with the 18” stock rims. There’s about 1.75” of sidewall to work with.
