Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

I think it's clear that you like the performance aesthetic but I hope you don't race anyone with it, or try to show off, and ruin the reputation of a Performance Tesla. That's how you end up with Mustang bros spreading the word about how they smoked a Performance Tesla.

I think I just bought a Model 3 LR FSD

Sounds like a fun drive home. Make sure to have the current owner inform Tesla so that you can have the car transferred to your Tesla account and get app access.

Elon already showed us the refreshed Model S!

This has nothing to do with "Model S 2". After the Model S refresh, Tesla screwed up how they listed and tested the vehicle and its components, and ended up obligated to sell every refresh Model S with the front license plate holder attached. They learned from that mistake and didn't repeat it...

Why can I only get 65kW when Tesla states it has 120Kw

Cold battery won't charge as fast. 45 minutes of driving won't necessarily be enough if it's thoroughly cold-soaked. The good news is that Tesla is adding a feature soon that heats the battery ahead of time when you set the navigation to a supercharger station. Aside from that, charging rate...

Bad AP/TACC performance on dirty car

Regarding the sudden stopping, your following distance is probably set really close. It's going to be a lot more jerky if you're giving it a smaller window to react in. It treats that following distance like a wall it cannot pass. Which is a contrast to humans that would just stop a little...

    Great Car - Crappy Company

Here's the "crappy company" part. Mr. Musk just told his entire sales department he wanted them gone, and then had to walk back the store closures because he demanded immediate action without looking into whether it could even be done first. In the days in between, he left the employees to sit...

Mis-matched front tires on 'CPO' P85D

They probably checked remaining tread depth but didn't keep track of tire make/model as they did so. It's easy to overlook. That said, you should definitely insist that they replace the front tires. At the very least, wheels sharing an axle should have the same tire and similar levels of wear...

    Red fluid leak under front

The coolant is blue. I'm almost certain what you're describing is ATF used in the differential. I strongly recommend calling roadside assistance and not driving with your drive unit in that condition.

Accident :-( - Advice / Looking for another roadster ...

I recommend taking the money and test driving a performance Model 3. Amazing handling, and power with access to supercharging and all the latest features. A lot of Roadster owners on here seem to be making that jump now that Tesla offers something smaller and nimble again.

Help w sticker shock over adding amp to detatched garage

Mid Range Model 3 maxes out at 32 amp charging capacity from a 40 amp circuit; which yields 30 miles of range per hour of charging. You'd be getting 15miles/hr using your existing 20 max amps. I recommend just digging it yourself and saving $5k. Invite some friends and family to help and treat...

Added a grill to my Model 3

Big, bushy, preposterous mustache. I'd much rather live with the scratch than have that on my car. I hope your repair is completed soon.

question for us who drive for Lyft

It doesn't do phone screen mirroring. I doubt you'd be able to pull up anything like that on the browser either. The best you could do is probably enter the address on the screen or send it to the car with the Tesla app. The voice commands work pretty well too. "Navigate to..."

Another Safety Tale... My Children Safe

Any car with a likelihood of severe injury in a crash below a certain threshold is labelled "5 stars". One car might have a 9% likelihood, the other 4%. They would both be classified the same despite a massive difference in safety. See below. Both of those cars are equally safe based on star...

Cold feet - TM3 as sole car?

It doesn't even really take planning anymore, unless it's somewhere super remote. You just enter your destination and the car works out all the charging stops to get there. The mobile app even lets you know when you're good to go. The car will also tell you to slow down if it looks like you'll...

Cold feet - TM3 as sole car?

I was expecting to read that you were in the middle of nowhere with a long commute or something. You shouldn't have even the slightest issue in your situation. I also think you'll be amazed by how well Tesla AWD works. Gas cars are physically incapable of adjusting traction at the same level and...

Does anyone know what the plan is for more audio command in the M3?

According to Elon, you'll be able to do pretty much everything via voice command eventually. https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-3-voice-commands-features-musk/

Any way to keep high beams on?

There isn't a way to leave them permanently on now. Auto high beams disable automatically when the car detects light in front of it. Probably to prevent people from constantly leaving them on and causing safety issues. Picture the ubiquitous drivers of lifted trucks on highways that add more...

    Ride Suspension - Very High

Probably just to clear a steep ramp like travwill says. Low handles better, is less stiff than the fully extended High/Very High settings, and reduces drag. Clearance is really the only reason to raise the car.
  19. S

    Can someone tell me....

The car will automatically lower charging amperage to match source if necessary. Otherwise you're charging slower for no reason. The only time you'd want to lower it manually is if you know you're charging off of a limited circuit that can't handle the load.
  20. S

    Can someone tell me....

It's basically the rate at which you are charging, and how many miles of range have been added over the course of your charging session. From left to right: Rate of miles being added per hour, miles of range added in this charging session so far, amperage at which you are charging, voltage at...

BMS might refer to Battery Management System. If it's a battery issue, it's probably covered by warranty.

My Model 3 (Lowered + Wheels + Painted Brake Calipers)

The wider wheels and different wheel design are probably going to make a big difference to your highway driving range due to impact on drag coefficient/aerodynamics. It's not really about the weight. The Model X has a really nasty range penalty if you get the bigger wheels for example. Elon...
  23. S

Model 3 Efficiency - May not be as good as S/X?

There is probably a steep efficiency cost for the 20" performance wheels compared to the aero wheels with the covers on. In highway driving that can make a pretty big difference. The aeros come with tires intended to improve range at the expense of performance too.

    Jerome Guillen is back!

Let's hope he has the time to be hands-on with customers again. Jon McNeill was for a bit but I think he got overwhelmed towards the end. I suppose it doesn't help that TMC tagged him for every little issue...

    Naples, FL ...

As I understand it, there are different and additional licensing requirements to conduct a vehicle repair or service business. There is likely a conflict with the local zoning too. From what you wrote, it seems the mall is aware and strictly enforces it too. Aside from that, there are a number...

Made order and will get delivery in one week

Pretty sure they're matching orders to cars that are already built. If there is a match, Tesla has no incentive to let that car continue sitting on a lot. Pretty sure they're eager to hit numbers before the quarter finishes too. I really doubt it has anything to do with vehicle quality.

Is it safe to reset center panel while driving ?

Totally fine. You can even reset the screen behind the steering wheel while driving. You'll just be without a speedometer until it restarts.
  28. S

What do people use "summon" for

It's handy for letting the car pull itself into a tight spot that would make it difficult or impossible to open doors in. Great for getting out when people park too close as well. Good for avoiding puddles under the car. If you park head-in and realize you want to get something out of the front...

So uh, who did not get approved for their Model 3?

Looks like the official agreement states it's non-refundable after three days. I'm pretty sure I've read a few posts about people getting their deposits refunded when they had to back out due to factors beyond their control though.

Did drive unit fluid change today

If it's a new drive unit, I wouldn't be surprised if that's just the result of the initial break in. Next fluid change probably won't be as bad.

Ever heard of J1772 Charging Adapter stolen at Service Center?

They'd probably just give you a new one, if you mentioned that it seems the guys forgot to put it back afterwards.
  32. S

Ever heard of J1772 Charging Adapter stolen at Service Center?

"Stolen" is a very strong word. Especially for employees that likely can't afford a Tesla, and have easy access to new adapters and parts. Assuming you didn't misplace it when moving the cable out of the pouch some time, it's much more likely to have been a mistake on their part than theft...

    Any M3 in South Florida?

Looks like there is one on display at a store in Aventura. Behind the scenes at Tesla's private Model 3 event in Miami

Am I crazy thinking of driving North this month

From what I've seen on here, RWD isn't really an issue for EVs in winter. I can't really speak to how much range will be affected on your trips by the temperature though. Most seem to recommend having the car top off a bit before heading out so the battery is warm.

regenerative braking vs hard braking events for insurance companies

    Dual motor "gear" ratios?

Tesla Tap lists 9.71:1 ratio for rear motor and 9.34:1 for front motor.

    Have a week to decide - 75 or 75D?!

It's a big difference in handling. The AWD Teslas almost never experience tire slip. Pretty sure there is also better passing power at higher speeds with the two motor version. More efficient/better range too.

    Ludicrous Tesla Factory Experience 7/21/17..

Either this event was so dull no one wants to share their experience, or an NDA was required. I was really surprised to not see any updates on this thread.

Has anyone seen a public J1772 charging station like this?

Their website actually boasts network connectivity and that the My Schneider app I linked above can be used to find all their charging locations.
  41. S

Has anyone seen a public J1772 charging station like this?

You're also 4 miles from a supercharger at a Sonny's BBQ. Though I imagine you're hoping to charge up overnight and skip the stop.
  42. S

Has anyone seen a public J1772 charging station like this?

Looks like there is a MySchneider app that should be able to help and also give you a way to seek support from the company. I also found this number to reach their support team for electric vehicle chargers located outside. 888-272-6841 > Choose options 917833# Best of luck...

Model 3 Black Interior Only == Not Good For Warm Climates

You'll probably be able to turn on the a/c from the app like you can with the Model S/X. Seat color isn't really relevant if the cabin is cooled by the time you get to it anyway.

Need help deciding, CPO P85 with no tech package

For that price difference, I'd definitely get the one with all the extras. The early Model S without the tech package was pretty embarrassing and I think you'll appreciate the automatic trunk a lot more than you might expect.

About to pull the trigger, but need some quick advice, 85 or P85?

Go with the P85! Same range, more power. You can also add the twin charger to the P85 later. And for those mentioning the stiffer ride, I think that was only for the P85+. Either way, total no-brainer: P85
  46. S

    Why don't SC have superchagers?

They probably didn't have enough cars coming in for service before to really need them at each location. That said, it's clearly intended to help charge cars that are in for service if it's not outside and readily available. I imagine you'd be quite upset if you went to pick up your vehicle from...

    ebay 90XDL for Sale. Fraud?

They're definitely inflating the MSRP. I'd trust the window sticker that had $151k. Also, the Ludicrous performance upgrade was a separate option from the battery upgrade. It was possible to purchase a non-Ludicrous P90D. Seems like the D&M listing went off the sticker whereas the ebay seller...

    Will RWD go extinct too?

Don't forget that the performance cars have the same big motor in back that the RWD cars use. I don't know that partially reducing production would end up being worth any potential savings. Especially as it makes for a more accessible base trim.
  49. S

SoCal: Tricked Out 75D or Bare 100D?

Why not go with a 6-seater 90D? Better range and power than a 75D, and still get the options you value. Maybe I'm missing something but it just seems pretty obvious to go with the middle option instead of the extremes.

Getting fed up with getting ICE'd

I'd leave out the postscript. Most people don't even recognize EV chargers for what they are.
