I get the feeling Tesla aren't building many LR AWD because their movements in pricing indicate a LR RWD model announcement and expect a lot of people to shift their orders...

I think it has to do with the RWD Long Range model. They're making room for it to be priced appropriately...

I got my tax invoice a day or two after the VIN was allocated. The VIN gets allocated if you've selected existing stock (in Australia or on its way already) or once the car is built and (I believe) gets loaded onto a ship.

Correct - VIN was for the changed colour, blue!

As an update from my order change - just going through the process now. Have my invoice and now NL company is poised waiting for a delivery date. As a point of frustration, our only car broke down last night... So currently carless... So in the space of 3 months, our number of cars will go from...

An update on my order change: I received my registration documents this morning and it does look like they will be delivering the Blue to us, despite the Tesla rep and my charging app showing the Quicksilver. Note: the charging app shows Quicksilver colour but with the VIN of the Blue...

Yep, same info as the other decoder... All matches up

That decoder takes your last numbers and estimates date of manufacturer and destination...it's only a guess

Thanks @Quickst Already did that and the VIN all aligns... although for some reason it shows as "GB" as the destination

Cheers @bgeh No worries here - either we'll get the Blue we changed to or the Quicksilver we originally wanted...no big deal to be honest. My only concern is if my timing was really bad and delivery times have been completely reset. Unlikely, but could be karma for not being patient enough 🤣

That's annoying...does Tesla give you the option to pay the outstanding amount yourself? Would save all that messing around...

The Tesla guy said it's showing my order as Quicksilver and VIN assigned. He said my change this morning hasn't gone through as the 'Vehicle Studio' had been disabled due to having a VIN... I'll keep checking my VIN on RORO regularly to see if anything changes...

Cheers @Sturty Gotta keep the other half happy 😉 BTW - When I switched the order up, the app gave me a massive warning about Tesla Vision and the car not having sonar etc. So that makes it really clear you're ordering the HW4.

BTW - we've changed our order (pressure from the Minister of Finance and Entertainment) to match one in inventory. MY RWD Blue/Black 19". Delivery date now May 18 to June 8.

Actually, the clue is the wheel colour...all black 19" = HW4

My lease company includes a bunch of third party stuff by default - floor mats, tinting, paint protection etc. For them, it's a no-brainer - it all helps to protect the car's condition, making resell value higher.

The Tesla website now has 10 more MY on it... No specific clue as to whether they are HW4 (price maybe?!?) but given the colours, it is in line with what the Tesla rep told me last week, and she said they were HW4.

I don't buy into the "we build more white cars because Australians prefer white cars" argument - I believe we prefer them because they're the most readily available colour (the slightly cheaper price is an influence, but I think that's cancelled out by the rental industry). If we genuinely had...

Holding the line...I'm getting impatient and was considering going with the original colour/spec which is showing in the inventory page (but HW3), but with the above insight, it leads me to believe we are expecting a ship direct to WA with our colours on it...sometime soon* *"Tesla" soon

Yep - got the email but no updated EDD yet. Can't check for VIN via the sneaky methods while at work.

Just to add my two cents - I have a wall charger setup and no VIN is visible in the app. (Model Y RWD Quicksilver Black Interior)

I think you're spot on there...I think with the whole refresh of the Model Y line, their logistics system doesn't account for this disruption. Therefore all previous rules around EDDs are out the window. I honestly think they didn't know how the new colours would take with buyers, so they've...

It is tricky to debate, but we don't like white... So that was out of the question. Also, ex-demo don't qualify for the $3,500 rebate.

I'm in the exact same position - current order is HW4 MY Quicksilver RWD Black. EDD is still at the original Mar-Apr 2024 (when I placed an order for a HW3 MY Midnight Silver). Now the Midnight Silver is showing as current stock...so my dilemma is - is HW4 worth the wait, and is the EDD...
