Just got this text from Tesla: I still don’t have a VIN. Is this a routine reminder or is this potentially pointing to some long awaited progress soon? Did anyone get this right before receiving some good news?

I’ve decided. I’m giving Tesla one more week. If I do not at least get an updated EDD (that’s sooner) by EOD next Tuesday, I’m going to cancel my order.

The whole point is that annoyance and frustration should not be part of “buying these cars through Tesla.” I’m so sick of the guessing games. I bought this thinking my current car has enough time left given the Tesla EDD, but now I’m left questioning that altogether. We’re talking about a 2-3...

May 15th, so not the earliest, but still much earlier than a ton of people who have gotten VINs and taken delivery. I feel bad for people who ordered early may and late April and haven’t gotten anything… Now I’m showing August 20 - September 27 and August 16 - September 20 for my two orders...

No, it’s actually much simpler than that. I expected the EDD that Tesla gave me to have some credence. Clearly, that is not the case. Furthermore, there are people who ordered weeks after me who have already gotten their cars. That’s a slap in the face.

Well I don’t think my current car is gonna make it to September. I ordered this with the June EDD because I thought at WORST case it would get moved out to late July.

This has been incredibly frustrating. When I ordered this car, I was told an estimated delivery of June. Now, I am being told late September. Meanwhile, there are people who ordered weeks after me in my general area who have already taken delivery. Thinking about canceling my order at this point.

I understand your frustration, but a lot of this comes down to the logistics of delivering cars. If person X from Missouri is one of the first orders on release day, Tesla will find other orders from Missouri to ship with X’s. Some of those other orders may be from far down the chronological...

Some of you guys need to learn how to use a spreadsheet. Seems like every time I get on the order tracker someone has done something stupid and messed everything up. What is the username of the spreadsheet owner? We need to revert to an older version.

Yea, but I’m seeing it happen to a bunch of people with very common trims too where others are getting VINs. Seems like location is just as important as trim, but even that fails to explain some of the 4/23 people not having VINs yet.

It is honestly extremely frustrating how people who ordered well into May are getting VINs before those who ordered on release day or shortly thereafter.

I’m a firmware dev. There is almost nothing trivial in firmware, especially when it comes to critical car firmware.

Huh? The actual brakes are different between the pictures… First one is front, second one is rear.

The rapid depreciation of your 2023 has a lot to do with the fact that it’s the old design and lacks the features of the new one. It’ll be a few years at least before that happens with Highland.

It’s crazy that they are still showing “Est. Delivery: June 2024” across the board on the order page. No chance that’s happening, hope I’m wrong though.

The fire was supposedly mostly outside and consisted of packing materials. Not impossible, but I think we would have seen a lot more huge EDD delays if that was the case.

I appreciate your sentiment, but my current car may not make it to the delivery date which would be a huge hassle. I was told June when I ordered and I knew I could make that work but now I’m seeing people get dates as late as September…

Wow, sorry to hear that… Hopefully the current EDDs mean nothing. I’m thinking it might just be the automated system conflating the hold on VINs with a delay in production. I find a full month delay in EDD to be very hard to believe seeing as production is clearly moving along.

I hope my GigaCope theory turns out to be true. I think that the string of hugely delayed EDDs is being caused by an automated system seeing the huge delay in VIN assignments and missed delivery dates due to firmware/EPA and "thinking" it's a production issue. Perhaps it is adjusting EDDs...

Between this and the EDD still being listed as “June” for new orders, the antics here are getting quite frustrating! It has been hard to get a straight and consistent response out of anyone at Tesla.
