    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Ahh, didn't realize it would be quite that much of a detour. Fair enough.

Can you not just hit up the Dows SC, and then take 20 over to Waterloo?

Raptor Engine - General Development Discussion and News

That is ridiculous. Would love for someone to go into a deep dive on why all the plumbing was there on v1, and how the heck they were able to just delete 70% of it (so it seems to me).

    Who has ordered?

They aren't even meeting the configurations they announced, so I highly doubt it.

    Who has ordered?

I was told late Summer 2023 when I reserved, so I guess they still have a few weeks left to get back to me.

    Who has ordered?

I'd like to believe that, but I reserved an R1S (which they're apparently prioritizing now) back in Oct. 2022...and *crickets*

    Rearview mirror housing rattle/vibrations

I just completed this fix, but with the same 3.3mm size as Mike. Worked like a charm, no more rattle even over the bumpiest of roads. Glad I found this thread before making an appt. on our 3 week old 7-seater.

    Personal opinion noted.

Yes, but Elon had, gloriously, stayed mostly away from politics for the ~9 years prior...

    Elon & Twitter

Just lock it then. Elon has turned Twitter into a political tool, and if we're just supposed to ignore that then there is very little point in attempting to discuss his involvement with the company. I do not envy the massive workload you're going to have to scrub discussions of politics on the...

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

So I guess everyone assumes the Turkey thing is too political to post here, eh? Vague posting so as not to close down this thread again.

Elon made cancel culture okay now.

    Elon & Twitter

I'm thinking BlueSky will be a good indicator of whether Twitter will morph into MySpace or Truth Social here in the next few months. Will be interesting to watch nonetheless.
  14. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

No it isn't. What he said is that it's entirely hypocritical of Elon to say one thing and do another. You said we should all just ignore the hypocrisy, unsurprisingly.

    Elon & Twitter

    Absolutely hilarious reasoning.

Tucker Carlson isn't a reporter, he hosts a variety show for stupid people.

    Elon & Twitter

*sigh I suppose it was only a matter of time the way things have been going.
  18. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

It seems that you're attaching a negative connotation to the phrase "echo chamber," even though you have explicitly stated, in this very thread, that it is imperative construct one to successfully utilize Twitter. Very confusing.
  19. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

    Comical, on multiple levels.
  20. JohnSnowNW

    I mean, it is free.

    Elon & Twitter

The apostle has spoken. Musk once again successfully defended against tyranny.
  22. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

No, it's people with legacy checkmarks that don't want to pay for something that was both free and had meaning. You don't have to be anti-Elon to understand the significance of the change, nor disagree with it.
  23. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

This is the exact same argument a flat earther or anti-vaxer would use. The. exact. same.
  24. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

You're just describing a walled garden that you've built primarily on confirmation bias.
  25. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

Yeah, sure, my twitter feed is full of "news" from the individuals experiencing the event. Charlie Kirk, for instance, has been in the right place a the right time a lot, I guess. Interact with people once, and you get inundated with their tweets. Not sure how amplification of tweets, based...
  26. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

Well, Twitter was actively keeping bad actors off the platform, and now it's a free-for-all. So, I'm not sure the statistics are particularly relevant as a comparison. Besides it's free to use, so...

So, people need to have more kids AND we need to raise the retirement age? No problems with that plan.

    Nissan Ariya

The price is a touch high compared to the competition, but the real problem is Nissan's inability to produce them. We were looking to replace our '21 EUV with the Ariya next year...but I'm not sure it will be available even then.
  30. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

The fact that it can't be dismissed outright is...kinda sad.
  31. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

I think it's important to remember that the same people that latched onto the virus being of "lab origin" were also pushing other pseudo-science nonsense at the time. Which didn't help with credibility. Acknowledgement of the theory, which there was even less evidence of at the time, wouldn't...

    Elon & Twitter

When ALL participants are in on it, and the entire point is to bring it to the surface, sure. However, I think many, many, many people do think it's okay to be racist in real life. Though I believe they don't see it as racist, just reality...because they live in a pathetic reality they've...

    Elon & Twitter

Well, calling it "satire" is a little generous.
  34. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

Has anyone noticed that "centrist" Elon hasn't tweeted anything about Fox News/Murdoch (the media) knowingly pushing election interference lies for money? Despite the fact that he's been on a tirade about the lying media for well over a year now? I suppose sharing a booth with Murdoch at the...

    Elon & Twitter

I think it was more that people assumed it was sour grapes, or simply disgruntled employees, and because Elon has long been a target for attack from people with vested interests many gave Elon the benefit, including myself. However, since he's been airing dirty laundry and otherwise acting...

Once you go bidet, you don't go back. We've had a Bio Bidet BB2000 for several years now, would never go back to TP.

    Elon & Twitter

Here I thought everyone interpreted limited information in some sort of context, like, say, previous tweets. This thread is clear evidence that there are people more than willing to ignore/justify any behavior, while exclaiming "jokes" or "4D chess" no matter how erratic he gets.
  40. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

It's way, way, way too early to say whether his firing of staff has been positive for the company. Frankly, it seemed to happen on a whim, and those features released were most likely years in the making...and also released on a whim. I'm fairly confident in saying that most of the "changes"...
  41. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

Apologies, this was meant for the thread in general. Elon needs people to call him out on this crap, not more "yes....persons."
  42. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

Look, nothing Elon is doing on Twitter is excusable. If you're trying to excuse it you're wrong. That's really all there is to it at this point.
  43. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

Elon, himself, claimed he wasn't running Tesla day-to-day... No, "media" required.
  44. JohnSnowNW

    Elon & Twitter

Seems like lots of people are migrating over to other platforms, but those platforms aren't quite ready for the influx. I imagine that it will be a relatively slow exodus, despite the initial gut reaction from many. However, lots of fringe right-wingers seem to be joining, so might balance out...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

I'm talking kWh. The heat pumps and new furnaces/airhandlers use as much energy as our old furnaces' blower motors, apparently. Though, that's not the entire picture, as we also replaced our electric water heater with a heat pump water heater, in June, so some of the electricity savings can be...
  47. JohnSnowNW

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

What's funny is that our heating was ALL gas until April '22. So, yeah, those high winter consumption figures are purely a gas boiler and 2 gas furnaces. We have since replaced the HVAC system with heat pumps, and are currently using about the same amount of electricity to heat the house.

Car & Driver: The Mach E is simply better than the Model Y

My experience with Ford (through my father and MiL) has been quite a mixed bag. I talked my father into a C-Max Energi years ago, and he liked it so much that he bought a 2nd one when his lease was up. Both of those cars have been relatively rock solid, except for some infotainment issues. He...

Car & Driver: The Mach E is simply better than the Model Y

You live in a warm weather environment though. The Mach-E is the absolute worst performer in cold weather of any BEV on the market...and this is not hyperbole. They really need to improve the cold weather performance to be reasonably compared against a Model Y, at least in every market above...
