    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

It is just so incredibly obvious to me that a SC in New Glasgow or Antigonish would be a huge advantage for travel from Halifax or New Brunswick to Cape Breton.

Tesla called and offered to transfer my free Supercharging to a new vehicle

Got an offer via email. I have a 2015 Model S. Considering it. Just wondering what trade in value would get For my present car.

    Did you reserve the cyberTruck?

When I bought our Model S in 2015 an important part was that the design was a more mainstream design that did not shout out that it was radically different. And not ugly like a neighbour’s BMI i3. Just a very handsome variation on “normal”. My first reaction to seeing the reveal of the cyber...

    Supercharger - Wawa, ON

Drove to Vancouver with our Volt in October. One thing to keep in mind is, that in our experience, it was difficult to get a hotel in Wawa. The are plenty of hotels/ motels but there is a new Hydro line being built in the area and most of the rooms are booked by the workers. Don’t know when the...

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

I am a transplanted Bluenoser who drives “down” to NS, and back “up” to Ontario once or twice a year in our Tesla. We go “over” to PEI but “down” to Cape Breton. I have never driven “over” to Newfoundland but have flown there. I guess we always figure the farther east one goes, one is going...

    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

The ChargePoint DC fast chargers at the Viscount Cell phone lot at Pearson airport: NONE of them would work last night.

Poll: Do you plan on buying a chademo adapter?

It is off Network Road behind the Viscount Parking garage. It is handy because you can use the bathroom facilities in the parking garage and even have the person you are picking up use the Skytrain from Pearson to get to the garage. You do need a ChargePoint card to use it. But the charge is...

Poll: Do you plan on buying a chademo adapter?

Actually in my post I forgot to mention by far the most common use of my Chademo. At Toronto’s Pearson airport cellphone lot. My wife’s elderly mother lives on the east coast and she flies down to see her often. I need a charge to get back home from dropping her off or picking her up, and I...

Poll: Do you plan on buying a chademo adapter?

I have had a Chademo since 2015. Definitely of use in certain areas. Can go virtually anywhere in Quebec and the Maritimes with one. But since the Supercharger buildout into the Maritimes have used it less often but did come in handy once this summer. I actually bought a J772 extension cord back...

    Driving the Maritimes

If you have a Chademo adapter anywhere in NB or NS is easily doable. But I prefer always to fully charge at a hotel overnight. Besides, I make it a point to mention it to the desk that I stopped there specifically because of the charger. Incentivizes them to keep the chargers working or add...

    Driving the Maritimes

For information. Just got back from a trip to Nova Scotia and back. Even with the detour, due to the flooding, to Saint John and up to Fredericton along the west side of the Saint John River I did not have to use my Chademo adapter once. That is in my 2015 Model S 85D, so would be even easier in...

Federal EV coming this budget 2019

Again optics is everything in politics. Look at what just happened in Alberta. Kenny blows and puffs and the voters eat it up. Everything he ranted about, he will be as constrained as Notley was, and get no further, but being Mr. Outraged plays to the masses. So any ev program has to take into...

Maybe if they had a snowball’s hope in winning. But not yet.

Federal EV coming this budget 2019

The reality is that the Liberals at least believe in global warming and are doing something. The Conservatives say they believe but want to do nothing, or even actively work against any work on the environment, and the NDP are just not in the game. Guess I have to vote Liberal.

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Certainly if I came across such a dual use Supercharger I would encourage all Tesla owners to use the dual purpose spots first, if open, rather than the Tesla only ones.
  16. Phillip L

    Driving the Maritimes

Totally agree with Jerk. I have had a Chademo adapter since I got my S in 2015. Last summer was an absolute breeze with all the Chademo’s in NB and NS. Driving down this month, will be even easier with the new SC’s in NB. Highly recommend borrowing or getting one. I have lent mine out in the past.

    Wiki Canadian Trip Planning

Was wondering about a trip from Southern Ontario to Calgary next June. Looks like no problem to Butte, Montana or even to the Tesla Chargers in Helena, Montana. But looks like there is only one J772 between there and Lethbridge, Alberta in Great Falls, Montana. Do any people have experience...

Good. So that makes three for overnight charging for hotel guests.

    Superchargers pushed back to 2019

Tesla must have to hire a part time employee every December to change all the labels to «coming in 20... ». I bought my 2015 car in the expectation of the Woodstock, New Brunswick SC, lol. But everything being said, have never regretted buying my car. This next summer the drive down east will be...

    SuperChargers - Rivière-du-Loup, Qc

Is the old Sun Country Highway charger still working a the far end of the parking lot? In the old days that charger was invaluable for going to the Maritimes.

Elon Tweets He's Considering Taking Tesla Private at $420

If he takes Tesla private with a substantial piece of it being owned by the Saudis, my current Tesla will be my last Tesla. I cannot think of a more ethically challenged bunch than the Saudis to have influence on Tesla. I thought that Elon had a great vision of saving us from the fossil fuel...

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

That is why Tesla should be making some cash off the SC network, to provide separate funding to help to continue to expand the network.

What do you think a reasonable EV incentive program would look like?

I am with you on this with a caveat. A carbon tax on fuel makes great sense but to mitigate the political fallout and the economic cost to citizens, give a rebate equal to the average amount collected to every tax payer. Let’s say the rebate is $500.00 a year, for arguments sake. You see an...

    Chademo Adapter For Model 3

Can’t believe this. Anyone who has used both, like myself, really knows the difference between the two. Given the choice between Supercharger and Chademo, the former is so much faster than the latter, that one would always choose the Supercharger. So there is not really competition between...

    Chademo Adapter For Model 3

I wonder if once they get the software work done, that the current Chademo adaptor for the Model S and X will work on the 3?

Trade war scarier than ev rebate/Ford?

I would put Newfoundlanders in before British Columbians, but just my opinion.

Trade war scarier than ev rebate/Ford?

My wife won’t let me fill up at Taco Bell anymore because of the In and Out gas pollution problem.
  29. Phillip L

Trade war scarier than ev rebate/Ford?

Buggle. It may be stronger in BC but believe me it is not just in BC. I know lots of people who have changed plans on visiting the US. And many have stopped buying American products already. As an example, US wine is a no go among us and our friends and we do love our wine, maybe a bit too...

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

I should have checked sooner. You got it right PlusEV ...the numbers are population adjusted which clearly shows the effects of the incentives. Alberta is less than one fourth of BC’s, one fifth of Ontario’s and one eighth of Quebec’s.
  31. Phillip L

Trade war scarier than ev rebate/Ford?

To get back to the topic. There will be a lot of (non-Tesla) well built evs coming out of Europe in the next few years, and if Trump craters the Ontario economy with his tariffs, there will be a huuge backlash against any American made products here, including Teslas. It is one thing to have...

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

I suspect for a year at least they will be a lot slower in Ontario. It is very clear that incentives make a difference. The three provinces with the incentives were by far the ones with the most ev sales. Just did the math, using 2017 numbers: (Ev sales per million population) Ontario 282...

    Driving the Maritimes

Absolutely. Going east or coming from the east is really awkward. Have to go up the hill and through the old part of town, only made much worse by the construction that has been going on for a few years now (when is it ever going to be finished?), that makes you take all those little streets.

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Was charging at the Chademo in Aulac and took some pictures of the Supercharger site but no point in posting since no change from Saturday ‘s picture above from Mr Plugshare. Confirmed for myself that there were Tesla logos on the cases. A great spot for the Maritime’s first Supercharger.

    Driving the Maritimes

I just returned from NS and I my plan was to charge at one ChaDeMo short of the last one needed because I worried about it being occupied. Had no problems but it was heaven to hit the Superchargers starting with Riviére du Loup.

German Auto Makers Serious About EV's

I don’t think that the problem is them eating themselves. The problem is them getting eaten by Tesla. If their current loyal customers buy a Tesla, when they switch to ev vehicles, they may be lost for good. In a segment like this brand loyalty is important. They have to produce good quality...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Hope it is not glyphs from an ancient First Nation, or maybe the lost Vineland Viking settlement. If a film crew from the Discovery Channel shows up, we are screwed. It would then have to be designated a heritage site and then we will not get our Supercharger.
  38. Phillip L

    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

I would think they would love to see tourists from outside of NS using the chargers. Would show how effective they are in getting ev drivers to the area. I will be in NS at the very beginning of July. I would gladly show enthusiasm for the new chargers!

Ha. Holy fork! Never saw that one before. Is that the fork used at the Last Supper? Makes me think of Monty Python. In Search of the Holy Fork.

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

To refer back to the title of my original post. I now pose a question. IF a trade war ensues, do Tesla sales in Canada decrease to a significant extent? Or will there be a minimal impact? And I guess as a corollary, since the US administration seems to be on the same tact with their European...
  41. Phillip L

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

Exactly. In many people loyalty matters. And I am one. What I find interesting is just how effective the politics of resentment,as practiced by Trump, really works. But in the non-obvious sense, not of his own supporters, but of what it does to me. I am so offended by his bullying manner in...

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

Won’t be buying for several years....will be lots of options available then. If this trade war nonsense does not occur a Tesla Model 3 or Y would probably be among my first choices. Will see what happens.
  43. Phillip L

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

Absolutely my sentiments when I bought my Tesla.
  44. Phillip L

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

Very good points. And the real threat to American security is from China. But could it be that because China holds a few trillion in US government debt that they could dump on the market that they pussyfoot around with them and treat their allies like crap?
  45. Phillip L

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

But I can certainly buy a German or Japanese car. Or that Ipace from Jaguar is looking good.

I hope you are right. Then if things are back to normal, all this discussion is moot.

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Moncton is the junction going either towards Saint John, Fredericton or up the St Lawrence Gulf coast of the province. Definitely a good spot for a Supercharger.

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

I have a Tesla now. I made clear that I am talking about the future and IF a trade war ensues. If the southern Ontario economy is put into recession by US government policy on automobile manufacturing then it makes absolute sense to take it seriously. And there is definitely one thing you can...

Trade war and Tesla Canada Sales

This whole Trump trade war has got me really rethinking my future plans vis a vis Tesla. Don’t get me wrong. I love this company and I put down the deposit on a Model 3, only to half expect not to use it since we bought a Chevy Volt in the meantime to replace our other ice vehicle. But I felt...
