Depending on where you are in California you should sign up for a “Time of Use” electrical rate plan with your utility. I am in a Southern California Edison area and they have a plan where rates are lower during lower usage times of day. It can be substantially cheaper to defer charging until...
Thanks terranx but my 2024.8.9 release notes seem to have skipped the 2024.8.7 section. There is no mention of UWB as others have shown:
BUT - about 15 minutes after the update finished I got a notification on my phone to upgrade my key! I went through the steps and it looks like it is there...
I had a 2015 P90D. You have to remove the “nosecone”, open the hood, then access the 12v battery to jump it. This is from the emergency responders guide I downloaded from Tesla way back when.
I have had 2 adult bikes laying down in the back many, many times. I pop the front wheels off. I put packing blankets on the floor and between the bikes. Much easier and much less anxiety than using a bike rack.
Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, I do not have the option to turn off the “Full Self Driving Visualization preview”. I think it is forced on all the time in my car.
In fact, I think Tesla now forces it on if you have the FSD computer. That option used to be available on our 2022 MYP but...
I wish for the good ol’ days when you could configure the left and right sides of the Model S instrument panel with whatever info you wanted. Back on our 2015’s you could do that. Now if you’re not routing somewhere the left side is not used at all. I’d love to be able to put my Trips and...
After you get the free trial set up you can go to Upgrades> on your phone. The tap on “Manage Upgrades” at the bottom and it will list the upgrades you have including the expiration date for your FSD trial.
My slightly educated guess is that there is specific, custom code needed to support the various UWB chipsets. Tesla may have had to use different suppliers and/or versions of those chipsets so what works for one car may not work for another.
The Bluetooth key on the MSP and MYP work pretty well...
Thanks for this clarification. My “Settings | Privacy & Security | Nearby Interactions” list is empty for now.
I am waiting to get 2024.8.7. Hopefully that will enable UWB on my car.
Agreed. I used a little Goo Gone to remove a minor amount of glue residue leftover from the tape. It is pretty mild and definitely did not harm the paint.
Mine also came off very easily. I did not use any sort of heater - just 40 lb test fishing line. Then rolled the remaining tape off of the car.
As some suggested I masked off the area around the frame with blue masking tape to protect that paint from any accidents. I also made sure to pull out...
Good point. Who knows, they could be having issues getting it to work consistently on the MS for some reason. It would sure be nice to find out something official from Tesla so we stop messing around with it until it is released.
I was never asked to upgrade. And the “Ultra-wideband Phone Key” topic is not included the 2024.2.3 section of the release notes as others have shown.
Also - the “Nearby Interactions” mentioned in those release notes is not available in the Tesla app iPhone settings.
I tried deleting and...
I hate to ask the stupid question but how can you tell if you have UWB enabled?
I have new Feb 2024 build MSP and an iPhone 15 Pro Max - all on the latest versions of their respective software. The car always unlocks reliably when I approach it. Is that the only way to tell?
OTOH, our 2022...
And the pack was completely redesigned with the Plaid. Longitudinal modules and better cooling allow for higher peak output and faster charging. While the form factor may be older the 18650 has distinct advantages in high performance situations.
Whew! Glad to know it is not just our car.
This morning we drove from Cambria, CA to Camarillo, CA along Hwy 1 and 101 in our 2022 MYP. We did not have a connection the entire way. Normally the cellular service in Cambria is really weak so I assumed it was the typical problem there. But then...
After having the new car for a couple weeks and being able to detail it (you know how dirty new cars can be) I have found only one minor flaw in the paint. And I mean minor - I can barely find it again. Otherwise the car is excellent. The build quality is so much better than our earlier Teslas...
You should look for a leftover new 2023 M3P. They are eligible for the full $7,500 fed tax credit. When I was shopping at the Camarillo, CA store a couple weeks ago I was told they are selling them for around $42k before the tax credit. They had 3 gray ones in stock at the time.
I am still learning new stuff about our 2024 MSP. Does anyone know what now lives in the small compartment at the bottom of the passenger side of the trunk? It was wide open on our 2015 MS and I used it to stash all kinds of things. It is now covered with a panel that has a very small shelf with...
We had a similar experience last Sunday when we took delivery of our MSP in Camarillo, CA. The people at the Camarillo store are great and we were in and out of there in about 20 minutes.
We did not have FSD or supercharging to transfer over but all of my profile settings from our MYP moved...
I just purchsed a Feb 2024 build MSP on Sunday. I obviously can’t speak long term but my initial impressions are it is a vastly different car than the 2015 85D and 2015 P90D we owned. Much higher assembly quality, quiet, solid sounding doors, smooth suspension when you want it, and beautiful...
Just another perspective….
I am sorry for the OP’s issues but my May 2022 MYP has been almost flawless. It has 2 minor paint defects that are so obscure I did not see them until I had the car for 3 weeks (I am very picky and I previously looked very closely ). It has never been in the shop...
This thread is great timing for me. I am picking up my new MSP on Sunday and learned the front license is installed at the factory. I was panicking about what to do with that abomination. Removal sounds pretty straightforward.
Thanks all!!
I just had a one hour test drive of a brand new LR (built 2/24). We had two 2015 Model S’s and this one hardly felt like the same car. Not a single rattle or creak, decent materials on the inside, and a much nicer ride. It is a huge improvement.
I was very close to ordering a Lucid Air Touring...
Quite a saga. You have been way more patient than I would have been. Try to enjoy your weekend.
Good luck and please let us know how it turns out ASAP.
I would like having the elapsed time on “Current Drive”. I am on 2023.12.9 and it still shows mi, kWh, Wh/mi. it would be nice if they added the elapsed time without replacing any of the other stats.
As a former owner of two 2015 Model S’s I would highly recommend a new Model 3 or Y over a used S of those vintages. We had a 85D that my wife drove and a P90D that was my primary car. I traded the P90D in for a 2022 Model Y Performance last June. I purchased the P90D new in Nov. 2015 and it had...
The Tesla paint chip repair kit is pretty nice. They include everything including a little squeegee to remove excess paint from around the repair. You’ll never make it look like new with touch up paint but I have had better luck with the Tesla kit than any I have used.
I upgraded the front footwell and door puddle lamps but not the rear hatch light. Like others, I think it is plenty bright.
I used Abstract Ocean lights. They have always worked well for me.
