Crazy: windshield replacement -> bricks climate system -> bricks right front passenger door handle

But wait. Why are we assuming this was done for some smart money saving reason? Only the right front passenger side auto-present door handle, but not all of them? Or maybe two or three of them? How much compute power can a door handle use that they could only control 1 of 4 with the climate...

Crazy: windshield replacement -> bricks climate system -> bricks right front passenger door handle

In this case Tesla service had to pay for several hours of mobile service to unnecessarily install a new retractable door handle, research why that didn't fix things, etc. It's such an unlikely and obscure paired relationship that it no doubt costs more $$ to diagnose and service than it saves...

Crazy: windshield replacement -> bricks climate system -> bricks right front passenger door handle

Posting this story because it is a case of surreal Tesla engineering that just defies imagination. At end of January I woke up to my 2021 LR Model S with an end to end horizontal crack in my windshield that seemingly came out of nowhere while sitting overnight in a driveway in Stowe VT. Low...

    Firmware 8.1

I have same year/model and have not received an update since the late Oct 'Happy Camper' update. Wondering why. Now I think it might be because of issues specific to our model that you describe. Had your locking out issue been resolved be late point releases?

Autopilot slammed on breaks in middle of highway

I think the issue here is that occasionally Telsa's map data on highways, even divided highways, gets requests to limit autopilot to no more than 5mph over a certain speed. Perhaps that's from temporary construction or repair work. Anyway, the problem I've seen is that the removal of this...

Things that hang up Summon feature pulling into a tight garage - like mine

The wheels are 19" Real Lugano Wheels - aftermarket for my snows: 245/45R19 Nokkian Hakka 'R2' Studless Winter tires. First year owning car and first winter, but so far 85D with these tires has exhibited amazing hold. You can also use these wheels with all weather tires which I'm guessing is...

Things that hang up Summon feature pulling into a tight garage - like mine

The thing about Summon is that it's never going to replace getting into the car in the garage 100% of the time... If it's raining, snowing, very cold, or if I'm in a hurry - to give a few examples - my passenger and I would likely skip Summon. So yes, even though Summon would theoretically...

Things that hang up Summon feature pulling into a tight garage - like mine

Quickly pulled together this video to give Tesla a real life example of a tight garage scenario that might not be all that uncommon. Pulling out of a tight garage isn't a big problem... but pulling into one is. Specifically: need to allow user to override the 8" to front wall limit and bring...

2nd day of ownership: First issue. "Driver Assistance Functions Not Working"

Happened to me once, 6 days ago. I have driven 5k miles since AP, and this never happened. But last Saturday, after driving 16mi with AP, parking my still clean car/windshield for 10 min with camera and front radar facing away from sun, I started up and saw this message for the first time...

Am I going to regret leaving off the air suspension option?

I looked thru about half of the 6 pages of responses so far to see if anyone who lives in snowier parts of the country responded here... I didn't see it or missed it... I took possession of my 85D with Air at the end of June, but living thru many snowy winters here in the northeast - especially...
