    Supercharger - Yermo, CA (LIVE 21 Nov 2017, 18 V2 Stalls)

Yeah I actually think it's a good strategy at least in the medium term, before the huge Baker/Primm expansions come. There doesn't appear to be a lot of real estate left in that Yermo area for a huge expansion (28+ V3s) and possibly max power problems with sharing the space with EddieWorld...

    Supercharger - Yermo, CA (LIVE 21 Nov 2017, 18 V2 Stalls)

They've been there at least 6+ months and are even in the Nav as it shows 22 stalls (instead of just the permanent 18). But they do seem kind of temporary-ish since they're so movable. They're kind of similar to that 4 stall thing in Barstow and a little bit longer lasting than the trailer...

Time of Use Supercharging Rates in California

The peak/off-peak hours should be accurate in the nav of your car so you can see the price (if not on the unlimited) of any nearby supercharging any time there. It seems to have gone up to .29/.58 now from .24/.48 earlier this year.

    Supercharger - Baker, CA (LIVE / EXPANDED 40 V2 + 20 V3 stalls)

I've seen these before the last time I was through maybe a month ago. Not sure if/when they're active (probably just super peak travel times when it's >80% full) but when I was there, it was maybe 90% full and they had opened these up as "temp stalls" in a back row on that unpaved area like in...

Supercharger - Coalinga, CA (LIVE 15 Dec 2022, 80 stalls)

Most folks travel during peak hours, which is why it's full during peak hours and was what the OP originally asked for. Of course, there's going to be stalls available at super off peak times (which is when you imply you prefer to travel and that's wonderful) and certain times will be more...

Supercharger - Coalinga, CA (LIVE 15 Dec 2022, 80 stalls)

Honestly, I think it's because it's not that big an "event" anymore to see a full supercharger. Pretty much every weekend in the SGV and OC and others throughout LA, multiple larger ones are full. Especially Vegas - LA (even Baker was full last time I went through) is regularly full on...

Supercharger - Harris Ranch, CA (18 V2 stalls)

Oh, I'm glad you got your situation resolved relatively well, outside the extra bit of waiting. I never really thought about it but I guess from now on, I'll triple check the nav status (shows as temp closed right now) before heading out. Have a good and safe trip.

Supercharger - Harris Ranch, CA (18 V2 stalls)

Yeah, that's probably the "easiest" way. You can get 150% of rated range at a constant 30mph with the hazard lights on. It might annoy everyone else on the freeway, though. Could probably still make it on local roads but it's more dicey. Your roadside service might be able to help out too...

Trip Planning -- LA to Carmel

Just adding that I made a similar trip recently. It was raining hard so mileage was terrible (1.29 rated miles used per actual mile from LA to Paso, with clear weather and no traffic was closer to 1.23 rated/actual) but still made it to Paso Robles from 100% with the same stats car as OP...

Holiday travel availability / congestion at CA Superchargers; possible solutions, complaints, comments, discussion

101 was pretty boring, if I remember. The V3 chargers were half full at most with some even 1/4 full only. Paso kind of got to maybe 1/2 - 3/4. There should be no problems on this route. Small V2, like Atascadero, was still full, though. V2 vs V3 seemed to be the general theme overall for...

Supercharger - Kettleman City, CA - Bernard Dr. (LIVE, 56 V3 stalls)

Everyone will have slightly different timings and it's still early afternoon, but along I-5, it was about like Kettleman 1 was full Kettleman 2 was about half to 3/4 full so it was really great All the V2s were pretty much full and stayed full Firebaugh was almost full and the rest of the V3s...

I own multifamily apartments - I'm part of the EV charging infrastructure problem

Yeah, it's tough if your units are spread out all over. In some cities, the new requirement is something like 5% of the parking needs to be EV. Technically, they require just the wiring and not even the ability to charge yet. The tentative plan is probably to install some lower amp J1772 in...

    SolarCity (SCTY)

Not a great answer but "it depends" based on the offer. Usually, they just need a certain percentage of the shares for it to go through (e.g. 51% or 2/3). For the people that didn't tender their shares, what will most likely happen afterwards is they just keep their shares for a while. Then...

    Coding practice for kids?

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but TopCoder used to have "Single Round Matches" which were basically 3 small coding problems that people did in 2 hours. They had some UI where you could run tests on the code to see if it passed the test cases. I haven't looked at their...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2015

Normal people can buy after hours. I've traded some before with nothing special from my brokerage account. Edit: And yes, I think many people expected lower guidance below 50k deliveries, which is probably why the stock is up after hours right now. EPS isn't as important with a super growth...

Cleaning the inside of the windshield

I've had good success with Stoner Invisible Glass. Just picked up a can at Wal-Mart. They have wipes too. Optional is some type of reach tool for the edges but a normal microfiber cloth works fine too.

Things you may not have discovered about your Model S?!

I never got out and measured the exact distance but I tend to stop far enough back to be able to fully see the rear wheels of the car in front of me. Generally, that's enough distance to be comfortable to switch lanes (depends on turning radius of the car I'm driving), if needed, in case the...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2015

That was some crazy AH action. Stock probably will open near AH's closing price(?) tomorrow and then who knows? But yeah, overall the main headlines on all the news sites right now are lowered guidance for # of cars and possible capital raise later.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2015

Elon still confident of 500k+ cars by 2020 but they'll need more localized factories to get there. 500k not as big of a jump as what they've done in the past 5 years.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2015

They'd want to raise cash through equity if the stock price is super high to get less dilution. If they think the stock is "overpriced" a bit, then yeah, a secondary offering would be a good idea. Elon says Gigafactory may have more output than first expected with maybe something going by Q1...

Tesla Model S gets 26.5 mpg (per some random person's math on PriusChat)

Yeah, I can see where it's too general in a lot of places, but they pretty much just used the eGRID data from the EPA. It's probably too much of a pain to divide up each region exactly, so they just kind of made a general average. Hydro is still 47% in the entire NWPP region, which is one of...

Tesla Model S gets 26.5 mpg (per some random person's math on PriusChat)

There's a more well researched study that looked at this. Bottom line was that it varied highly depending on the state because the composition of the energy production in that state. I imagine it's similarly region specific around the rest of the world. Bottom line, it looks like this:

    90kWh battery?

Teo, I don't think Saghost is talking about that. The 90s have a different battery chemistry than the 60s and the 85s, which have the same chemistry. In theory, there could be higher/lower max amps/voltages that they're able to feed into the battery with a different taper curve due to the...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

To me, it seems with high certainty that they've basically done everything they could via software and with the current hardware. The current P85D, as of today, is about as good as it will ever get. Every single one of the AWD cars have "effective HP" lower than the "total motor power" number...

Saleen going after FredTesla over comments about Saleen

The link in the OP has most of the info in that Reddit thread. Fred is basically some random young guy on the Internet who made some posts about Saleen. As far as I know, he isn't anyone famous. Saleen is some aftermarket company that buys cars and "upgrades" them with fancy looks, etc. and...

Saleen going after FredTesla over comments about Saleen

Yeah, it seems unlikely a 23 year old who can't seem to afford a lawyer will have much to offer if it even gets that far. I'm not really sure why there's even an injunction. Trying to delete widely read stuff off the Internet is a losing cause and I doubt Fred cares much about posting more...

Saleen going after FredTesla over comments about Saleen

That's so sad. Tesla isn't really involved directly in the lawsuit since Saleen was just buying the cars normally and there's no affiliation. Too bad Saleen has no money for that guy to counter-suit. On the other hand, maybe Saleen will run out of lawyer money before it gets too far.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2015

In general (not related to Tesla since I don't follow them that closely), a business wants to borrow money or at least set up lines of credit when they're doing well. Banks will line up to offer good rates because they want to loan out the money and make the interest. It gives flexibility in...

Supercharging - Elon's statement that Daily Supercharging Users are Receiving Notes

Yeah, 100k cars is mostly being handled by the current set of SCs. My own wild predictions are pretty similar except that I don't think they'll start charging for use for a while if they can help it because it would be a bunch of additional overhead to set up a payment structure for it all...

Supercharging to reduce ownership cost of a Model S.

It's tough to come up with a good analogy because the SC network is such a limited resource, especially in some areas. The main reason some people are annoyed in this thread is that the worse case scenario is very painful if the chargers are in use. It could, in theory, cost an extra hour or...
