Calculate usable battery capacity based on rated miles values

Remote S is an app for your iPhone that could be compared to the official Tesla app in terms of what it provides, with a different UI. Teslafi is a web service that monitors and collects data from your car TM-Spy is an iOS and Android app that connects to a CAN bus adapter in your car and...

Is my annual service a waste?

I've had similar mileage in a similar timeframe. I did do the service and I'm glad I did, Tesla did a whole bunch of things that they found or had service bulletins for, that would have otherwise been lingering. Didn't cost me anything extra (other than the actual $400 service). I figure I spent...

$2000 Across the board price decrease January 1?

They might be able to but they have no incentive to do so. People are still buying at the current prices, and Tesla is trying to become/stay profitable.

    HW2 software tomorrow?

The source is some law. Don't ask me what paragraph or what not. Same in my line of work (software), we're not allowed to book revenue for those parts of the contract that haven't been delivered yet. If a customer buys the base (shrink-wrap) product, and add-on customizations, we can't book the...

Beige Model S (pic) as a taxi service in Germany

Uber in Germany acts as a middle man only. They tried to do the "anybody with a car can drive" thing and failed (NYT Jan 2016). And in the two cities they're still servicing (Munich and Berlin), they basically just connect the passenger with either a licensed "beige" taxi, or with a...

Wifi signal is weak inside the car but its strong outside the car

I don't get any faster speeds with my car and I get my updates just fine. Your car has all night to download, while it's parked. Also remember, it doesn't require wifi to download updates, it will use 3G/LTE, too. (For map updates, happening once in a blue moon, it will strongly prefer wifi, though)

Wifi signal is weak inside the car but its strong outside the car

Single bar is fine. As I mentioned in my earlier post, the download speed doesn't really matter much, it'll still download any updates. No need to add any wifi infrastructure. As @mspohr suggested, you can run a non-flash speed test on the car's browser if you're curious. But as long as you can...

Wifi signal is weak inside the car but its strong outside the car

He might, but since it was his first post (which implies that he's at the initial "lets make sure my car has everything it needs" stage) and since people don't typically often sit in their car in the garage using their phone, I assumed he was worried about his car not getting good wifi. I could...

Beige Model S (pic) as a taxi service in Germany

Germany has a federal law that every Taxi has to have the color "light ivory". (Well, technically, it has to be color RAL 1015 from color palette RAL 840 HR) So yup, they had to repaint it :)

Wifi signal is weak inside the car but its strong outside the car

How many bars does the wifi symbol show on the 17" screen when you connect your Tesla to your Wifi? If you get connectivity, you don't need a range extender. As far as I know the antenna for Wifi is in the right side mirror (so not inside the car). Also, even if the speed is slow, it'll still be...

    How Tesla Charges Idle Fees?

The *only* way green1 incurs any fees is if the charger stalls are all busy and he's not moving his car within 5 minutes of it being done charging. Everyone is arguing with him whether or not Tesla can get him to pay those fees, but that's between him and Tesla and I couldn't care less. What I...

    Degradation at 94.000 miles

I would expect that Tesla uses the same CAN message IDs for the S and the X, so there's no reason you shouldn't be able to use TM-Spy on your X. I've used it before and it doesn't care about the model of your car, it simply translates the messages.

    Connecting to xfinitywifi

I usually just select the xfinitiwifi network in the car, then select the car's browser and try to browse to any URL. The portal will come up and I provide my username/password, after which the car works fine on the wifi network.

    Ad for battery upgrade

It should be opt-in, not opt-out. Don't display ads unless I gave permission *first*. Products that I buy that don't have ads when I buy them, if the vendor decides to try and make an extra buck, the right thing for them to do is to ask me first if I'm ok with it.

    Firmware: How far behind?

So I woke up to a "New Software Available" notification this morning. Alas, after updating, all I got was "bug fixes" in the form of 2.36.31. Tesla can be such a tease sometimes.

    Firmware: How far behind?

I assume you meant you're on 2.32.23 (the version you list doesn't exist). I'm still on 2.28.19; that's 14 versions behind the latest reported one on ev-fw.com. I'm not too concerned about it.

    Charge Port Freak Out

I think they added the auto-closing charge port to dual motor cars, so I believe you need a D. (And a US/CAN model at that. The European charge port is bigger, and apparently has no space for the door motor). My 85D has it, manufactured a month after yours was delivered.

Remote S: Tesla app for Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

The new summon/homelink commands use the streaming API (streaming.vn.teslamotors.com). For streaming, the Tesla app ignores any proxy settings that are set on the device, and talks directly to the server, so a proxy like Charles or Fiddler is useless for determining what the command syntax is. I...

Remote S: Tesla app for Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

It's no longer possible to do this since the OS now does certificate pinning and the Tesla app properly verifies the server certificate. Installing a trusted root cert on the phone that "issued" the MITM certificate will not work anymore. To still be able to do a MITM on SSL iOS needs to be...

Contact list with multiple iPhones registered

I have about 200 contacts and when I walk to my car, by the time I'm buckled in and ready to go, they're already loaded. It seems that when the car senses the key and extends the handles it already starts the Bluetooth connection. Haven't verified that theory, just going off my experiences...

Contact list with multiple iPhones registered

The car downloads the contact list when the phone connects via Bluetooth. If your wife's phone is connected, her contact list is what is available. Same, when your phone is connected, it's your contact list only. The list is not preserved or saved in the car. As for which phone it uses when...

    Alignment same for 85D/85/P85?

    Alignment same for 85D/85/P85?

I just had my one-year service done and the alignment was $150 (the service center called me and confirmed the cost with me before they performed the alignment.) However, on the bill it showed up as $550, since they didn't break out the cost of the service ($400) separately. I would venture a...

    SuperCharger - Denton, Tx

As I was charging today around 2:30pm a very nice guy from Tesla walked up, asking how long I needed because they were going to turn off power for a bit so they could bring the remaining stalls online. So I assume unless they ran into a problem all 6 stalls should be working now.

    Firmware 7.0

In 6.2, the trip planner would always pick the supercharger that's 10 miles from my house as the first stop whenever I was doing a long distance route, even if the car was already charged 100%. With 7.0 it routed me properly, to the first supercharger I actually have to use, 180 miles away. So...
