Do the headlights ruin the styling?

Ugly? Yeah, no disagreement there. But weren't they made so they redirect the wind away from side mirrors to avoid wind noise? So there's at least a reason for them being ugly. As per topic, if you look only at the headlights, then S or X headlights look better compared to the 3. But, if you...

    Tips for new Tesla owners.

Some folks here have reported that when it's cold enough you notice that charging is much slower than normally but you still get some charge from 230V/13A. So it uses portion of the power to heat up the battery.

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

Yeah that makes sense. That's pretty much only thing that does make sense in the dealership-model that seems to be used in the USA, at least from my perspective :D
  4. J

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

Yeah, that's why I said I understand why they are doing it, it's still silly though :)
  5. J

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

Agree, but I think it's stupid for journalists to compare it to the model 3. I mean, I get why they are doing it but it's still stupid. It's like comparing VW Golf to BMW 3-series or something like that. Completely different cars for different segments.

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

Haven't been following those bills since those don't matter here in Europe. But I think I saw one comment somewhere (can't remember where) that the bill would've only allowed Tesla to sell directly while other OEMs would've still been locked in the dealership model? If that's true wouldn't it be...

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

So most likely 60kWh usable and real battery size is a bit bigger? I guess there are no facts about the battery's real size at this point. Edit: grammar
  8. J

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

Ok, thanks :) I don't usually mind dislikes since I can usually understand why someone did it, I just couldn't spin my head around this one and it left me puzzling :D Edit: typo

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

Hi Jeff N. You're free to dislike my posts but I would like to know what about that post was that you disliked? If there was something factually wrong I'd like to correct it.
  10. J

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

I am not quite sure why you seem so hostile, maybe it's just me misinterpreting you. I merely pointed out that the length isn't that exotic considering that it's supposed to be a hatchback. As for price, I'm not that interested in digging too deeply in to that since Chevy's website is horrible...

Bolt EV EPA range = 238 miles combined!

For a forum seemingly interesting in success of BEVs (granted, not every member is interested in that) there's plenty of bashing going around when someone publishes IMO a reasonable BEV. Is the Bolt for everyone? Of course not - there isn't a car in the world that would be suitable for...

I wonder if Tesla is really moving as swiftly as possible.

Would be interesting to hear about this in more detail. If nothing else then a PM would be nice :)

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

Indeed, I see no reason to drop reservation (excluding possible financial reasons etc. [people do unfortunately get laid off]) before some real facts are provided, be it about interior, SC payment scheme or battery/range sizes.
  14. J

How would you prefer to pay for Supercharging?

Offtopic, maybe this should be split into separate thread? But how much do you get from feeding the grid? The little (and I mean *little*) investigation I've done here isn't too promising.

Payment Method now on Tesla's My Tesla Page [Since Removed]

Agree with idle fees, have to disagree with charging idle fee for charging above 80% or even 90%. Plenty of valid cases where someone needs to charge that high.

6th drive unit replacement and more

I just read blog / article about a Finnish model S taxi. Apparently it had it's "back sledge" (big element that holds back wheels in place) changed. It sounds similar to your fishtailing. I'm not sure if that's helpful at all or if that's even the same thing but wanted to say if it might help you.

Attempting to price out options for Model 3

I think we should take some value with that photo, and make noise that that is not going to cut it. That is, give feedback so Tesla know what we want. :D You really are ludicrous - while I don't agree with you about everything (not referring to this max price discussion) I do love your...

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

Though, wasn't it mentioned that they would eventually sell 100D also, they are just prioritizing P100D for now since it's supply constrained?
  19. J

Payment Method now on Tesla's My Tesla Page [Since Removed]

Yes and that's all and fine. All I'm saying that I've yet seen any place where they say that you can only "charge" to half tank.
  20. J

Payment Method now on Tesla's My Tesla Page [Since Removed]

As far as I know, no gas station will come out and say on a busy pump that "hey you, if you fill your car up to full tank, we'll charge you x$ extra" or that "hey, only filling to 50%" Maybe I wasn't clear, my bad.
  21. J

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

I wouldn't consider 50 miles one way local. And I don't think what you are doing is any way wrong or should be punished. Maybe wasteful of your own time but as long as you are not taking the last spot from someone in dire need, why shouldn't you use it? Heck, if it's that inactive it's good you...
  22. J

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

That's true. But I don't mean that one is travelling only 100 miles. What I mean that one has to travel from home to point B via supercharger C and back again without the possibility to charge in between. That means that one has to use the supercharger C in both directions. And some have...

Payment Method now on Tesla's My Tesla Page [Since Removed]

Well that's the thing I agree with you, if I caught your drift correctly, that people are able to charge enough to get to the next destination, be it the next SC or last stop of the day. And to clarify, I do not view any charger spot to be anyone's (free) parking space. All I'm advocating is...

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

While I might not agree with the idea of considering SCs within 100 miles radius as "home SCs", you hit nail in the head with the thing that a lot of people seem to be forgetting. You need to be able to (IMHO: at same price as others if PPU is used) charge enough to get to your next destination...

Payment Method now on Tesla's My Tesla Page [Since Removed]

Do you honestly think that dictating how much charge people need is a good way to advocate adaptation of BEVs to the general public?

It has been removed from the site already, that's why you are not seeing it.

And instantly going in to ad hominem, how nice.

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

This. And we are also over a year from launch (sure, some might be more optimistic) so it seems weird that something specific for model 3 would be added already.
  29. J

Payment Method now on Tesla's My Tesla Page [Since Removed]

I was not aware that the distance I need to travel (and in essence, how much I need to charge) is dependent on how many other cars happen to be around the charging station.

Attempting to price out options for Model 3

Have to agree with you here. It doesn't mean that the model S is is an econbox in any way, but luxurious isn't the first word that comes to mind.

    Model 3 Photo Gallery (Unofficial)

Have to say that it doesn't appeal to my sense of taste at all. Probably not the end of the world but yeah... Let's just say that I have high hopes for some changes for future reveals. Edit: here's a link to the source Tesla Model 3: Rare new picture inside of a working prototype emerge

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

You're correct. The thing is, however, that model 3 isn't a sports car but needs to be* a vehicle that can satisfy all** requirements and function as a family's only car. And as such, it's important that it has enough*** battery capacity i.e., range. This might in turn mean that you get "extra...

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

Could it be that bigger improvements in the "immediate future" are more in improving acceleration of overtaking speed and acceleration at speeds above 60mph/ 100 km/h? Mind you, I'm not disagreeing with you.
  34. J

Anti-theft and security features on Model 3?

Apparently there is SIM-extender on EU models which make removing the SIM-card very simple (at least compared to US models where it is borderline impossible as I've been told).
  35. J

Anti-theft and security features on Model 3?

There were couple of Model S's stolen in Germany recently. Online access to those cars is blocked by the thieves and they haven't been recovered yet. This is just to emphasize that the phone app isn't omnipresent or omnipotence. Two Tesla Model S cars were recently stolen in Europe and it’s...

Steering Column Display in Model 3

They may want to but doesn't mean that they should. Driver is in control not the passengers.
  37. J

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

Maybe I misunderstood something but I've been under the impression that the power limiting is due to battery heat, how would bigger front motor help with that?
  38. J

Steering Column Display in Model 3

Only one of those that looks even remotely good and that is the Porsche concept. And even that has huge amounts of wasted screen space.

Model 3 Cockpit Similar to LeEco LeSee

Thank you. True, that's why the steering wheel is in front of the driver. And yes, that was a joke, I get what you are saying although I don't necessarily agree with you.

    The model 3 door handles

    You mean Fiskars? :)
  41. J

    The model 3 door handles

They look fragile. Doesn't mean they they are since I've only seen pictures and videos but they look fragile. Can't imagine yanking the door open during winter from those.

    LED Headlights Are A Must

No headlight washers though :( So much slush etc during spring and fall that they would be quite useful.

Your message I was quoting isn't even 24 hours old. Edit from this point forward: Not to mention the fact that between your message I was quoting and my message the OP hadn't even replied yet. I never said I'm angry I just pointed out that the OP never said what you were claiming he said. As...

    300 prototypes

This is of course oversimplification but I view quality, cost and availability to be in a triangular connection to each other. You can have two but not three, so in your example case, yes, I think they should wait for 5 months to meet the cost and quality targets. I'm sure lots of people would...

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

He didn't say that, what he said was: So no need to distort the discussion. To be fair, there are people who will always be moving the posts but I didn't get that feeling from garsh and from my POV his use case is perfect valid one and not over the top as in your example. Range or battery...

    300 prototypes

Mildly annoyed with this confrontational attitude towards suppliers, would rather see them working in co-operation. And yes, I understand that Tesla is a customer for those suppliers and I don't mean that they should be BFFs or anything. And of course the full picture isn't visible to the public.

    Model 3 Feature Requests

Feature requests you say, well here's one: Make sure the car is build properly: Fix the 12V battery issues. Make sure fit&finish is good. Make sure the DRLs work without issues. Make sure the door handles work. Make sure drive units are reliable. Might sound hostile but I'm really not. It's...

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

Maybe I'm not getting what you are saying but to me it seems you are saying something like "even the top of the line model 3 will be [significantly] worse than even base model S" which just seems wrong to me. I don't see one being able to convert average Joes and Jills to EVs that way. "Hey we...
