Center horn retrofit for Model S

Do you happen to know which part was installed? In the service estimate I received, it was using part 1965131-00-A. Tesla EPC shows a newer 1965131-00-B revision, but I don't know if that has any significance. And if that's all the tech had to do, that's a shame that he didn't know and...

Center horn retrofit for Model S

Yeah, so take it with a grain of salt. I think the more important information is that you need to be on at least 2024.2.7 for the new mechanical horn to function.

Center horn retrofit for Model S

Just a heads up, I just had a mobile service visit for replacing my yoke in my Model X. It was with the mechanical horn. However, I didn't proceed with it because I had to be on at least 2024.2.7 firmware which would cause me to lose v12.3 FSD beta. I asked to just have the appointment pushed...

Fridge/Freezer that fits the Model X is on sale

Any trouble with the 12v while off grid / away from the vehicle? Users above were complaining about the power being cut off after some time. I figure you’re a little more capable than most in diagnosing issues :) We have the Dometic CFX 40W and previously didn’t have trouble with the rear 12v...

    2020.28.5

I’m not sure by how much. But I believe I read in the manual it’s 9 inches to the side skis. I also don’t know if it was something else before. I definitely noticed the speed change and it’s welcomed. I have my X set to very high to enter a very steep and short driveway and it’s not scraping at...

Wireless Phone Charger for Tesla Model S

Just a heads up with the iPhone 11 Pro, I had the leather case on mine and it damaged the bottom of the side of the case from pushing it into the wireless charger. I have a Max, so maybe the regular one won't be impacted, but I switched to the silicone case since I had it handy. As far as fast...

Wireless Phone Charger for Tesla Model S

Same. I installed the wireless charger on Wednesday and broke one of the clips in the X. The wire is quite thick for the wireless charger. I couldn't fit it plus the USB for the SSD that I had sitting below, so now the rubber mat is sticking up a bit. I need to find a right angle USB A to USB C...

Model X vs. Model 3 Range

I assume you're on 20" wheels, which makes a big difference as well. I've had the 22" wheels on my X since about 7500 miles (at ~22k now) and it's been pretty accurate, except in winter. But haven't made a road trip in awhile. I'm surprised, though, we also have a 3 LR RWD. Perhaps there's just...

    Supercharger - Quartzsite, AZ

That's good news. Up until Model 3 deliveries, I frequently was the only one charging there. But now it's a horrible bottleneck. I wonder if Tesla is building bathrooms at the new site. It also seems like an awfully large trench but I suppose that could be due to the number of conduits.

Apple Pay on Tesla Shop Not Working

Could you clarify? From Apple support documents, there aren't any additional fees to accept Apple Pay, so I assume it's on par with the normal merchant transaction fees depending on credit versus debit card.

Blog Tesla Deploying Range Boost Software to Model S, Model X

Probably won't at all. I installed it on my 2018 Model X last night. The API reports my charge at 91% with a range of 256.43. That makes it at ~281.79 at 100%. Otherwise, the notes are the same as part of the past 2020.4.x updates, so likely just bug fixes.

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

I edited that into the wrong spot and can't fix it now. It did lose the vehicle name.
  15. alexdav

    Anyone got HW3 retrofit yet?

Yeah, we took delivery at the end of December in 2017. The previous leased S that I had before the X, along with our location and standing in line on March 31, 2016, is what I (assume) qualified us for such early delivery. We have VIN #14xx for the 3.

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

I didn’t notice anything reset on the X. On the 3, it lost things like music levels, Bluetooth pairings, HomeLink, and profiles. It still had vehicle name, music stations, phone key pairings, and trip settings.

    Anyone got HW3 retrofit yet?

Yes, we’ve had our’s upgraded, both the 3 and the X last year in December and November, respectively.

    2019.40.50 Release Notes

Looks to be just bug fixes. Notes didn't change as far as I could tell on the 3. Installing now on the X. I was hoping they were sneaking in another FSD feature to realize additional Q4 revenue.

Posted this in the patch thread but figures it makes sense to post here too. — Just tried something I hadn’t yet tried on the 40.50.x update — coming up to a stop sign, I was on autosteer and manually reduced my TACC to 0. It stopped two times at the stop line rendered. That seems promising...

Just tried something I hadn’t yet tried on the 40.50.x update — coming up to a stop sign, I was on autosteer and manually reduced my TACC to 0. It stopped two times at the stop line rendered. FSD Preview for HW3 only

Agreed on the city FSD. If I can get hands-free highway driving, I'll feel I've gotten my money's worth from FSD. Everything else is just gravy. What I really want is a chauffeur mode -- just hang out in the HOV lane and drive super smoothly without impeding traffic or compromising safety...

Ars: How Tesla proved the haters wrong

Good article that I feel is fair. A lot of Ars Technica's previous articles felt negatively biased to me. Also, the commenters definitely liked to pile on the Tesla hate train which I also felt was unjustified. Health skepticism is good but judging something when you have no first hand...

how to buy Tesla Toolbox ? and from where ? and which program

News to me. Thanks for the link. Did it work for you? Actually, on clicking download, you have to log in. That obviously suggests that you have to be given permission to use that tool. That either means I was right and it internal, or Tesla has to grant you access to use it, e.g., you're an...

    Anyone got HW3 retrofit yet?

I think I saw on Reddit someone got it in Las Vegas for a Model 3. At any rate, Group 1 for S/X is almost certainly MCU2 + AP2.5. That one might be geographic restricted. Group 1 for 3 is likely low VIN. And if you recall, deliveries initially started only in CA, so I think that's what we're...

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

Have you tried just scheduling it? That's all I did with vin #14xx. I didn't couple it with any other service request.
  31. alexdav

Are there any features not included in former "EAP" option?

Right now, I believe the only different feature between HW2.5 and HW3 is cone visualization. It's unclear if it's just visualization or if HW2.5 recognizes cones as well. Cone visualization isn't a FSD feature, though.

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

Just got the Model 3 back from service. They couldn't provide any more details on what specifically went wrong, but I did notice that they had to downgrade the firmware from where it was previously. 36.2.4 -> 32.12.6 So with that older firmware, I didn't have cone visualization. I did have...

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

I was just thinking about that this morning. I asked my SA about that and he said it was covered by the original warranty (50,000 miles / 4 years). I think they should include FSD retrofit in a separate warranty. But I did get confirmation that my car is ready for pickup so hopefully I'll find...

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

I think your odds are good. We have VIN #14xx. However, we're on day 3 of the install. There's trouble with the firmware installing. Hopefully this is only a one-off case since it'd be weird if they were running into this issue with each install.

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

Just dropped off the Model 3 for FSD upgrade. We were told we could pick it up tomorrow. (Weekends at the service center operate with a smaller crew, so I’m unsure if that’s what’s causing it to be slower to complete the upgrade or they’re still figuring out optimizations for upgrading Model 3.)

do we have tire info thru the computer

On the S/X, it's on the instrument cluster screen behind the steering wheel. Long hold one of the scroll wheels on the steering wheel, select Vehicle Info. That'll show you the current tire pressure. You have to drive a little bit to get current numbers.

Service Center and NO Loaners - Only Uber

It depends. They told me that they were setting them to expire at noon the following day just in case the service took longer than anticipated. I’m looking forward to what happens with your service appointment on Wednesday because in all likelihood, you do have HW3 already. Before I had a HW3 installed in the X, I had no cones. After the install, I now have cones and I’m on the same firmware, although service did reinstall it per the...

    Seatbelt nag chime longer

I had my X in for service today and I asked about this because I also noticed the changes behavior with 36.2.1. The service advisor confirmed it was an intentional software change. I’m not a fan and wish it was the old behavior where it wouldn’t alert until above some speed X (believe it was...

Sorry, forgot to specify in this message. It was for the X. I asked while I was there about the 3. They said they haven’t started them yet at that service center. I said I read a report that someone had it done in the Bay Area. They said, they usually get it shortly after service centers up...

    Supercharger - Quartzsite, AZ

Gearing up for Thanksgiving travel... Last year, after Christmas, we traveled to AZ. On the way there, we spent over 2 hours in Quartzite -- waiting to charge and then actually charging. I won't be making that trip for Thanksgiving this year and haven't decided about Christmas. But I'm glad...

    Tesla autopilot HW3

Completed my retrofit today for HW3. Haven't driven much on highway but it was noticeably better on surface streets. It felt like it was sampling more often because it would react quicker / more smoothly to road line changes. Exciting to see what the future holds for the software for this thing.

    Nov 21 Truck Reveal
