Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

I had a very similar issue recently on my 2016 X. I put new tires and new Tesla wheels in Jan 2022 at the Tesla SC. The alignment was off and the SC did alignment twice last in April. Before I put 8500 miles the two rear had gone completely bald and in fact one of them blew on the highway as I...

Tesla or another Integrated Solar Roof experience?

Hi - we are in planning stage for a custom home and every builder we have talked to is trying to talk us out of doing solar roof saying the technology is too new and not yet stable. From our respected member community, if you have a Tesla or another integrated solar roof, I will appreciate...

MASTER THREAD: Tesla Insurance Services in California

As of 9:30am this morning, Tesla Insurance has the capability to add additional drivers but not the cars. They said the software update was released but hasn’t replicated through systems yet. For me with my spouse, a kid in college and a teenage driver, Tesla came out about $50/month higher...

I have been a GEICO customer in California for over 10 years and I have maxed out all kinds of discounts they provide including multi-line. At Nov 2018 renewal, Model X and Model 3 together 6 month premium=$1883 with a teenage driver and another college student driver on the account. May 2019...

Very loud fan noise from frunk area with AC on...

In my 2016 X it was the condenser lines that were switched. Once they reinstalled the lines the jet engine mode is gone. Not sure if that’s the same issue with current models. Also, remember when the car is still, there is no wind cooling down the battery so the fans have to work harder.

    AWD range since last charge

There are several threads on energy efficiency especially if you search in the Model S forum. Besides your driving habits and terrain, the other factors that will vary your mileage are outside temperature and the winds. Winds take away a big chunk. There’s a browser based app one of the S owners...

Perfectly fine. I have waited hours in my cars with AC on. There are reports of people camping in their Teslas too.

Tesla: Please Have Continuity Between Models When Disengaging AP

Annoying but understandable. However, there's one thing they can do and Tesla has talked about this earlier but not got around to do it - have driver profiles available across vehicles. You get a new vehicle and everything has to be set up all over again even items that are common across...

Keep the free 19" Premium Upgrade, or Ask for the 18" Aero wheels?

And I ordered 19" wheels but the car was delivered with 18in Aero. The car was sitting in the SC lot for a week and they did not notice the discrepancy till we pointed it out to them at delivery. Now, I have a due bill and have to wait for the 19" wheels to come in.

Whats the most miles anyone has driven without having to take it in for service?

There is no tire rotation for Model X. The front and rear tires are different sizes and thus cannot be rotated. They can be swapped from left to right but according to America's Tire, that does not make a significant difference unless you had tire balancing issue with one side and wore it out...

Rear-Wheel Drive Available for Immediate Delivery to 1st Day Reservationists

I think Tesla delivery org is finally catching up to the mass produced car model. Thus far they were operating on a custom car delivery model for Model S and X. With the Model 3, they have to re-engineer their delivery process just as they are re-engineering their production. Mass produce a...

We Aren’t Saving the Earth Like People Think When Buying an EV.

@FlyF4 - if an EV owner believes that they are helping save the earth and they own a 100% clean car, let them be happy about it. Why would anyone want to bust their bubble? The people who need to be educated are the gas guzzlers who think that global warming is a myth and nothing bad is going...

Does anybody NOT wrap their cars?

Umm..no..it's definitely not..you don't even notice the wrap on the car. My S was not wrapped and after 27K miles 18 months there are some little white dots on the hood. Not that I tailgate. Plus it gets dirtier faster than my X that I got wrapped. X has had a few things come flying on it and...

Does annual maintenance come with Quick Detail?

That's what my installer recommended. Most of the service centers use a third party detailer who do power washes. And the wrap may peel from power wash.

    Model X: Average Wh/mile Tracker

X90D 20" tires 18K miles/12 months Avg 365kWh On a full charge the car estimates 246miles range. This used to be 253 last year. In reality, with average 70-75mph highway driving typical NorCal weather, I get 78-82% of the estimated range. The 18-22% loss can be attributed to higher speeds...

Just couple of weeks back in SF on 101N, I had a similar situation. A car two lanes left of me suddenly jumped a lane. The BMW in that lane jumped lane into my lane to avoid impact. How to save a lot of time on long trips

Having done several trips long and short in last 18months with our S and X, I agree with @Ugliest1 and @bxr140. From some of the other posts I have across in TMC from frustrated new owners, I believe that it is a mindset change. With ICE vehicles, we get used to making a pit stop at the gas...

    Road Noise

@mohanman - seems like one of the seals for your doors is not fitting properly. You should have Tesla check it out. Your experience is definitely not normal. We have done almost 18K miles on our X in about a year now. Road noise is not an issue for us at all.

Turning off regen and power limiting for increased range

With ICE cars, i can understand the benefits of coasting especially when gas is $4/gallon. But with Tesla, I don't see what OP will achieve by coasting - a few more, maybe 20 miles, from a full battery before you get to the next supercharger or your home? If it's supercharger, what do you gain...
