    White seat cleaning in Australia

They're actually very easy to keep clean, other than (so far) minor jeans dye transfer! Absolutely no issue with kids - they're fast to point out when the car is in need of a clean, and keep it pretty spotless given how much they love it.

    White seat cleaning in Australia

Thanks, good suggestion on the Autoglym. I had some 303 Protectant which is similar in concept, as far as I can see, to that Autoglym product. The 303 seems to have removed the stain. I don't think I'd be game to use it too liberally on the seat though.

    White seat cleaning in Australia

I’ve had no issues with the 3 which I’ve had longer. The seat design is different in that the 3 doesn’t have stitching and a raised section around the side bolster. It seems that it’s the raised part rubbing causing the stain. Good to know - I’d tried isopropyl alcohol, which helped slightly...

    White seat cleaning in Australia

Many forum posts talk about cleaning white seats using products not commonly found in Australia. What products have you used to successfully clean Tesla white seats, especially removing jeans blue dye? I've been using Waterwipes to give them a quick clean every week or two, however I've begun...

"Clunk" noise when turning left or right around 25mph

My new X doesn't shudder under acceleration, but it does make a loud clunk when turning right. Can't always reproduce it, but has happened in the same spot a few times so far. Happens after going down a hill and coming to a stop or near stop, then turning.

Cleaning products and routine for Model 3

In that case give the Optimum No Rinse + microfiber method a go. Especially with a high quality drying towel (really, get Gyeon Silk is remarkable) it will take very little time to wash and dry. The only time I bother with anything more is if I want to clean wheels or wheel arches after really...

Cleaning products and routine for Model 3

Optimum No Rinse (zas.com.au or Amazon), a bunch of microfibers (search for techniques using them), and the Gyeon Silk towels from Car Care - they're truly amazing. if you're not going to get a ceramic coat, use something like Turtle Seal and Shine every few months to make cleaning it easier.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

The majority of public AC chargers in Europe are a Type 2 socket. Bringing your own cable is very common, so Tesla supplying a cable makes sense. Over here most public chargers are either Tesla destination chargers, which are tethered (have their own cable). This is changing with some of the EO...

Clunking sound is costing me a bundle to fix out of warranty

I’ve had the ‘clunk’ practically since new on a 2017 Model S. SC can’t reproduce as the problem tends to be worse when cold. Other than hearing the sound, what’s the drawback to not getting this fixed?

Insurance. It is that time of the year again.

CGU seem to be vague on whether they'll do a new-for-old or not (wording implies up to them). Anyone have clarification from them on this? Anyone actually claimed from them? Lots of bad reviews about difficulty claiming or getting hold of them by phone.

Thanks, the 24-26 positaps have also solved my Wifi problem. @Nosken you might want to switch out your positaps to the 24-26 if you're still having Wifi problems.

Disabling sound works for me. The only thing I hear from it is a reminder to format the memory card. Try taking the MicroSD card out and use the Dashcam Viewer PC/Mac software to set the audio (rather than the mobile app, if that's what you're using). Does Wifi work for you?

    Software Update 2017.28 C528869

Definitely improved for me since the previous build. It takes some tight turns more carefully, but still deviates out of lane sometimes, and really botched staying in a lane, swerving into one next to me this morning.

    Sydney-Tamworth fast chargers??

I wrote to the zoo asking about any form of charging (10A, 3 phase, destination charger) but they never wrote back. Shame since the zoo has their own electric buggies and must have some charging infrastructure for them.

    Sydney-Tamworth fast chargers??

Destination Chargers (either in a public area council car park at Dubbo, or a hotel) would be a great start. Bathurst to Dubbo (with some driving near Dubbo/at the zoo) round trip looks like it'd cut things a bit finer than I'd like, depending on temperature.

I finally got around to taking a look at what was wrong. I was using a StarTech FAN4EXT12 to connect to the spare 4 pin always-on power. It looks like over time part of the connector loosened and no longer made firm contact. I've switched to 22cm power Fan Extension Cable 4 Pin Male Plug to...

Thanks, looks like it wasn't the fuse but (possibly?) a faulty connection causing voltage drop. The F100 fuse was fine. The last few clips recorded show the voltage at around 8V (despite the F770 set to cut off at 11.x V). I reconnected everything and it's working now.
  39. N

    Thinkware F770

My F770 no long powers up - I'm seeing around 11V where I previously saw 14. Maybe the fuse blew? Do you have details of where the fuse is for the constant power in the mic area? I can't find anything useful in the owner's manual.

For anyone following along, the EX-100R Posi-Tap Mini Tap (24-26 ga) works perfectly. I'd recommend this over the (physically larger) posi-tap that's also designed for thicker wire.

I've found the (new?) "Posi-Tap® Mini Taps 24-26 ga" (EX-100R) part. Should have it later this week to try out.

Which positap did you end up using? Strangely I've just done another install in another Model S (manufactured in the same month) and the positap doesn't seem to be making contact with the switched wire behind the mirror. I think the 20-22 AWG positap I used last time isn't right, and I need one...
  45. N

    Thinkware F770

Yes, see Thinkware F770 for tapping into the switched 12V - I haven't had any issues with wire damage from the positap.

    8.1 in Australia

The upgrade installed fine for me. The release notes differ from the ones I've seen people in the US post. There's no mention of autosteer speed increasing or summon, but the user manual was updated for both and both seem to work (ie, 100kmh autosteer and summon from the mobile app).
  47. N

    8.1 in Australia

No, and I'm beginning to doubt the accuracy of that data. For both this build and 17.9.2 ev-fw showed people in Australia having it. Yet, when it really did roll out everyone (who mentioned getting it) all reported getting it within a day of each other. It would not surprise me if we don't get...

Check that the wire you tapped into behind the mirror is definitely dropping to 0V after leaving the car. To do this I put the window down, held a voltmeter in place, observed the wire to be 12 or 13V, left the car, and kept reading from the voltmeter through the window. It dropped to 0V shortly...

I've had no GPS issues. Mine is installed below the autopilot camera housing. I've also got a toll tag to the left of the housing with no problems. I don't think that my windscreen has a metallic coating (Nov 2016 build).
