    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

A bit OT, but do any of you know where I could get the opening and closing prices of TSLA of last few years in one table?

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

I agree. But this is the TSLA short-term thread, if we want to maximize our profits we have to think about how the market will react to future events, not how we Tesla 'fanboys' react to those events. We all have a core of long-term holdings because we see the long-term potential of Tesla, but...

Wow, I can't even count to 9.. But, yeah, the results will of course be released in October. I also don't think that the merger can lead to a raise in the short term, even if it goes through. (although, maybe just a bit, because after the vote a significant portion of uncertainty is...

    Advanced TSLA Options Trading

Thank you for your reply! It is indeed just a simple put spread. I've looked at my analyses again and, like you said, I used the wrong numbers, I took the numbers of the last trades, instead of the bid/ask numbers, those numbers are a lot closer together and make it thus not quite as profitable...

Here are my (rookie) thoughts on the recent TSLA price movements with regards to Q2 numbers, other FUD and the SMP2, and how this relates to the events in the coming weeks. (I follow TM and TSLA for a few years now, but I only started following the stock very closely in the last few months, so I...

Well, B is capable to pick up 44% more passengers per hour, so it would be definitely be B. But even if the capacity was the same, I would say that B is by far the best option. Because the buses won't have a pre-determined route anymore the smaller busses would be able to transport passengers...

Wow, awesome!! Will watch it tonight! I have the same mindset at the moment. There are a lot of people that predict all kinds of things based solely on charts, but I have a hard time believing most of them. This is probably because of my ignorance, so I am happy to learn something new and be...

Which website/program do you guys use to check the pre-market? I've always used Yahoo Finance since my broker doesn't display the pre/after market (nor can I trade during those hours), but since it's make-over last week it doesn't show the pre-market at all, or sometimes very weirdly.

Great tips!! Activated that feature in the Twitter app for Musk and a few others and registered on the Tesla website for email-notifications when there is a new blog post! (I already got the investor updates, but these blog posts are just as important for the ST (and long term) stock price)

That would be great!! I have two questions, one specific and one more general: A: Does the technicals really matter with the SMP coming soon? Aren't the technical charts only indicative when there isn't any major news? B: I am quite new to short term trading/investing, and I have based all my...

My parents just bought a 2012 VW Passat and paid €200,00 just to upgrade the 'software'. After I told them about OTA updates with Tesla they were one step closer to reserving a M3. :)

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

I hope so, it wouldn't look good if the market opens and he didn't publish the SMP after he confirmed several times last week that it would be published this weekend. It's unnecessary fodder for the shorts, who will most definitely use this opportunity to defend their thesis that Musk and Tesla...

Let's hope not. I sold some $220,00 puts last week. I knew it would be a risky trade, but didn't thought that it would linger around the $220,00 for so long. But I am happy for every second that it's above the $220,00! :D

I think that this could be indeed one of the biggest obstacles if they have the production process under control (what appears to be). But how much of the strain that the SC's currently experience is produced by the aftermath of the 'crappy' MX's that were delivered at the beginning of this...

I truly hope that Musk will release his new plan in the weekend. That way everybody will have time to think and philosophise about the plan and it's implications before the markets open and people become short-sighted again. It worked well with the Q2 numbers! :) (although that was a long weekend)

What is the chance that Tesla Motors will announce together with MPII that they will change their name to just 'Tesla' or 'Tesla something', but drop the 'Motors' part of the name. Just like Apple did from 'Apple Computers' to 'Apple Inc.' It would be great timing, because this announcement will...

I measured the three spikes, and it appears that it happens at virtually exactly the same time, a bit before 5 o clock. Could it be a fault in your trading software? I can't find these spikes on the graphs of Yahoo nor Google.

He will present SpaceX's detailed plan for the next years in September. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he addresses this problem too. I don't think, however, that part II of the masterplan has anything to do with SpaceX.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Yes, but of what I've heard, the chances that your 'in the money' options are exercised before the expiration date is quite low. (and the chances of getting exercised while being exactly between the $21 and $24 are even lower) Is this true, or is there quite a chance that the options get...

Wow, thank you!!! I had no idea about this website, I had made some Excel sheets for myself which did partly what this website does, but this is way quicker and more precise! :D But a $230 profit over a $55 investment is 'only' a return of 418%, while the option strategy that I proposed has a...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

I am indeed also waiting for the deal to become clearer before I will risk it, but if you want to use the uncertainty of the deal as leverage you've to buy before the vote, because when the vote is done TSLA and SCTY will move in exact lockstep. I think I will buy in after they formally proposed...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

No, the buyer of the $24,00 put can sell their shares to me, but I can resell those for $21,00. So the maximum loss is 3000*($3,00-(8,15-5,5)) = 3000*(3-2,65) = $1050,00. It is indeed an extra risk that the buyer of the put can exercise it at any time, so whenever it goes below the $175,00...

I was looking to the option chain of SCTY this morning and I had an idea that probably has some flaw in it, but I can't find it. The problem is that normally you can have a high risk investment that has upside and downside, or you can have a low risk investment with a low downside but also a...

You are right that the number of in-transit vehicles this quarter might have been greater than average. But 3000 cars in-transit while you're producing 2200 cars a week means that you can get the car in the hands of the customer within 9,5 days on average. I am not an expert on supply-chain...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Yes, and there might have been some issues with the deliveries this quarter (I couldn't find the in-transit vehicle numbers for the last quarters, if somebody knows where to find those that would be greatly appreciated!), but I like to be conservative (if Tesla isn't gonna do it someday else has...

The European markets started of around $206,00, but since the US pre-market opened it went up to about $208,00. I am very interested in what will happen in the next couple of days, I expected a gigantic drop after such bad delivery numbers (and slightly better, but still lousy production...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

There were quite a few posts here in the last couple of days that said that the Q3 numbers will definitely be great because TM has 5100 vehicles in the pipeline, and they added those vehicles to the average production rate of Q3. But this is wrong, because TM will always have a certain delivery...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

The problem is that it's hard to predict if they will hit their long-term goals if they can't even hit the goals of this quarter. Why would I as a market analyst believe after today that they will produce 500k cars in 2018?
  37. VanE

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

No, that is not the case. TM said that they were going to produce 20k cars, they made 18k and they said that were going to deliver 17k cars and they delivered 14k. Yes, with the in-transit cars they hit their goal, but that's unfortunately not how it works, nor how the market will see it.
  38. VanE

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Oh yes they will! The only reason TSLA held up so well in the last weeks (through SCTY merger, Brexit and AP crash) was because investors were looking forward to the Q2 numbers. They didn't deliver a few less, but 15% less! (yes, a lot are more are produced but still in transit. But Wall Street...

I do understand that that's the point of AP, but don't you think that you will become less alert when you've driven thousands and thousands of miles without having to interfere a single time? Yes, AP frees the driver from all the repetitive tasks so the driver can look ahead and have a better...
  41. VanE

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

That is exactly the problem with Autopilot! It gives the driver so much confidence in the car that he/she loses his/her focus on the road more easily. Why wouldn't you respond to that text that you just got? You know that the car will keep driving! I don't think that more alerts are the way to...

    TSLA Trading Strategies

Wow, great post Papafox!! Very interesting strategy, especially the way you move your calls from 2017 to 2018 without an extra investment! :) The only problem (for me) is that you have to buy options in sets of 100, for short term options near the money this isn't a problem. But as a student I...

You view the merger from a TSLA standpoint. Credit Suisse viewed it in that article from a SCTY standpoint. It could be that both of you are right, SCTY might be undervalued for this merger as an individual company, but could be absolutely worthless as a part of TSLA. Although I don't believe...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

I thought about that too for a second. But I don't think that the NHTSA gives a crap about the valuation of a company to do something like that. (but I have almost no knowledge about the NHTSA so I could be dead wrong)

Oh yes! Over te next few days the news will be covered with this story. Big chance that it will overshadow...

Doesn't this lack of shares to short mean that a lot of investors are shorting TSLA? Because that would mean that they think that the Q2 numbers won't be a beat. I am pretty confident that it will be a beat, but should't this be a red flag that it might nog be a beat? (I'm sorry if this is a...
