    Best Comments on EV Stories

I've quoted that very article in many a rebuttal on social media and have been shot down that the National Grids project manager (also a Tesla owner BTW and a member of TOUK) is wrong. Its hard to argue with people who believe that they know better than the people that run our energy...

    Model 3 scheduled/timed/smart charging

Nope. Certainly has fixed the 16A bug as when scheduled charging is set when you first plug in you can see the display quickly ramp up the volts and amps available from the charger which is clearly a reference check as to what power is available when the charge starts in the future, I believe...

    Model 3 scheduled/timed/smart charging

Hi Durzel, The Model 3 uses a non standard protocol for charging (even different to the Model S and X) so when it goes into sleep mode an EVSE cannot "wake" the car to charge. If the Anderson (lovely bit of kit by the way) suffers the same issues as the Zappi then you will have to consider the...

    Model 3 scheduled/timed/smart charging

Thanks for those who replied. I've changed the Zappi to fast and used the cars scheduling which seems to have worked last night. My Model 3 P seems to charge at 10.18% per hour so some simple maths allows me to adjust the charge limit to match whatever period I'm aiming for during the cheaper...

    Model 3 scheduled/timed/smart charging

Thanks Andy - can I confirm this is with a Model 3? So to check as an example; Zappi set to fast Zappi timed boost 0:14 for four hours Car schedule charge 0:15 Would work?

    Model 3 scheduled/timed/smart charging

I'd like to add to this thread if anyone can offer any help? I have a Zappi 2 charger running the 2143 firmware trying to charge my Model 3 00:30 - 4:30 I cannot get the charger to wake the car for the Octopus Go period since the firmware updated. Previously the car had a charge scheduled for...

M3 getting a public ip address address from Spain!

Just tether to your phone using its hotspot to give yourself a UK IP address. This will also allow you to use iPlayer and other compatible geofenced webplayers compatible with Tesla's browser.

    Anyone going fully off grid?

In the U.K. any grid-tied microgeneration has to shut down in case of grid failure. This is to ensure the safety of workers that may be working on your local distribution network apparently.

UK Reservation Holder - Tesla Keep Calling Me!

Any other UK reservation holders keep getting missed calls from Tesla UK on 01628 450606? They don't leave a message and you can't call them back. Are they ringing for anything exciting or just to try and sell me a CPO? Thanks.

Same here in the UK. Not a Tesla owner currently and reserved 20.4.16 and the boxes have disappeared to be replaced with "early 2019."

    RHD Countries 2019

To be fair I think there is common ground inbetween the two. Paying £300 a year to drive an EV seems excessive but saying when you have £40k to drop on a car to pay nothing also seems slightly obsurd. My solution would be to scrap the luxury car tax on EVs but charge the minimum rate on the...

    RHD Countries 2019

My Tesla has updated to "early 2019" now which I suppose we can live with. What does everyone from the UK think - will the £4.5k plug in grant still be available by then or will it have been watered down or scrapped? I want AWD, Premium and long range so it will probably tip it over £40k and...

    RHD Countries 2019

I stupidly waited till the 20th April last year as I wanted to wait to test drive a Model S to experience a tesla before I ordered. We have a Q5 affected by the dieselgate scandal and the Tesla was to replace this. I was hoping for 3rd quarter 2018 for our car. 2019 is a long time away. I've...

New UK VED Charges & Impact On Model 3

The new tax guidance freely admits that the move away from taxing vehicles on their CO2 emissions is due to new cars not paying any or very little VED as a result of manufacturers redesigning their emissions systems is based on increasing tax incomes and not any kind of environmental incentives...

New UK VED Charges & Impact On Model 3

Using the Model S 60 as a comparator the base price in GBP is £64,000 inc. VAT. In the US (excluding incentives and destination fee) it is $70,000 which is an 8.5% differential, assuming the same as a fag packet calculation the UK Model 3 will cost £32,000 inc. VAT, leaving £8,000 for options...

New UK VED Charges & Impact On Model 3

Think many UK reservation holders will be in the same boat. By the time we see cars this side of the pond the dollar will probably be a parity with the pound meaning a £35,000 base price.

New UK VED Charges & Impact On Model 3

For those of us resident in the UK depending on how we option our vehicle we could potentially be looking at a tax cost of £1500 over 5 years when buying a new M3. From April 2017, any new vehicle costing over £40,000 will be subject to a "luxury" car tax. Historically zero emission vehicles...

    From TDI to Tesla

UK M3 reservation holder here. We were looking at buying an Audi RS3 to go alongside our 2.0TDI Q5 at the point the emissions scandal broke, after finding out that we would not be eligible for any kind of compensation from VW I told our salesman we would not be giving the VAG group another...

    Model 3 UK Preorders!

Hi Dustin, We ordered 17 days after the reveal as we wanted to drive the S before we committed to buying as we'd never driven an EV before. We were about to push the button on a new Audi RS3 sportback but when we'd optioned it the price was coming close to £53k which seemed far too much. We...

UK Model 3 reservation holders - questions and considerations

I'll reply to you Smythey. I hope I get mine by 2018, we have a lease running out on a Volvo V40 at the end of the year and was tempted to go with an Audi RS3 to replace it but adding options got us to a car that cost £52k which whilst we can afford it is just taking the piss from an Audi point...

Thanks for the reply. We test drove a P85D and had an hour long test drive. The car was fully loaded and the product specialist demonstrated the summon feature, switched the AC on in the car for us while we were walking to it so it was cool when we got there. We had the opportunity to use...

Greetings All, We are test driving a Model S today as we have never driven electric, which we believe will be a formality as we have pretty much decided we want to put a reservation down on the Model 3. We are based in the UK and I was wondering if there was any breakdown in the reservations...
