    2016 1 month old S90D

Hi all, I can't participate on the forum any longer due to upcoming business relationships. I love Tesla, I still have problems with my car but look forward to getting them fixed. Looking forward to the product launch soon! :-)

    Increased consumption in 8.0?

YES! My range is considerably reduced, updated 3 days ago and driving my normal commute I used to be able to do 2 1/2 trips on single charge. I can barely do 1 1/2 now.

    "Steering Assist Reduced"

They speak only one language... NHTSA and Lemon Law.. Sad but not unique to Tesla at all. Just a fact of life when dealing with large manufacturers.

    "Steering Assist Reduced"

Rest assured the first thing they tell you will almost always be completely incorrect. ;-) I am pretty sure there is even a mathematical proof of it...

Model S purchase Model 3 cancel?

I had a Model 3 reservation for my spouse. I cancelled it when I immediately had problems with my Model S. I have a genuine and reasonable concern regarding the safety of the first Model 3s. I am confident there will be a number of problems and I don't want my spouse experimented on.

    Waaaah! I don't have 8.0 yet!

Im pretty sure i have been blacklisted for obvious reasons. Lol

    Still no 8.0 for me....

Game AI approach to help autonomous cars to avoid incidents

This is already being done by tons of people including tesla.
  9. Z

    Negativity bias?

Just remember that to people who haven't had all of these problems it is just "negativity bias" to the people who are having all of the problems it is very real. There is a chance you will have a lot of problems and there is a chance you won't. I, personally, would not want to live so far away...

Trash blowing across freeway put my car into emergency braking

Please report all of your incidents to Tesla and any other appropriate authorities. There is obviously an issue with the AEB system. Hopefully v8 will fix it.

Trash blowing across freeway put my car into emergency braking

If you have AP on and there are clear lane markings the car in front does not turn blue. It only turns blue if the car is tracking it and it only tracks the car in front if it cannot determine lane markings.

    Autopilot now $3k. Why?

The truth seems to be that Tesla is out of money and out of people willing to finance them. So, they are doing a lot of things they have never done before to try and stay alive and deliver on the promise of the Model 3.
  13. Z

    Autopilot now $3k. Why?

That is actually not true. The 2 year lease the person I quoted received is a Tesla Direct Lease from the Tesla Finance department which is funded by a loan from Deutsche Bank. Tesla (TSLA) announced that it secured up to $300 million in loans for its direct lease program Thus, if it is true...

    Autopilot now $3k. Why?

They are pushing hard but now it looks like they are pushing too hard. This is NOT a good sign.

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

What exactly is so proprietary about accessing vehicle log data? Is that supposed to be some big secret? There is no reason at all for Tesla to refuse to an investigation by an independent third party. If someone wanted to access a Tesla all they would have to do is buy one. Nothing truly...

Fell asleep using Autopilot - admission from a Model S owner

I am plenty critical of Tesla and autopilot but I don't really know what else you could ask of them here. There is definitely an alarm that sounds. It has to stop somewhere and if you train it to attempt to get off of the road anything could happen. It is not necesssarily safer. I also believe...

Tesla Vision ... The Next AP Hardware

Unfortunately, I agree with this so much I can't stand it. The truth is, nobody in the world thought this radar stuff was possible except that Elon says he felt like it was despite all of his engineers telling him otherwise. Then, all of this stuff happens and BAM, magic phone call and now they...

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

made even more complex by the fact it is China and an American company. Truthfully, anything is possible. If the owner of this car is well connected it may even be possible that Tesla no longer be able to be business in China. It is one of my favorite places, to visit.

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

Just once. There is no reason to believe the son agreed to those terms,
  20. Z

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

this is actually not true. there are certainly circumstances where it would be autopilot's fault. disclaimers limit but do not absolve a company of responsibility.
  21. Z

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

According to the article, the person suing will not settle until Tesla admits fault which they will never ever do. It isn't about the money and I really respect the car owners for taking a stand and not trying to take a payout. Additionally, Tesla's statement that they aren't being allowed to...

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

You are very sorely mistaken. I have no personal bone to pick with Tesla at all. It may SEEM that way because I am sharing my honest opinion which is not favorable to Tesla. I would not confuse that with a "personal bone to pick." Quite the contrary, you can see that as soon as I came to this...

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

P.s. I appreciate the civil discussion. My mind is available to be changed but at this point I believe consumers more than Tesla. If someone proves me wrong I would be happy to admit I was wrong.

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

We have 'impartial' people confirm or deny it to the best of their abilities. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm or deny anything Tesla says because they don't share any of that information. At one time, when I still believed that autopilot was safer than a human driver I did get all of the...

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

I understand what you are saying and I don't disagree. It is a responsible thing to say and I respect that. However, in my opinion after watching the video and knowing of other similar incidents I find it highly likely the car was on autopilot. I also find the claim "we cannot examine the car...

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

I am sorry, can you please provide me proof that the driver wasn't paying attention? Isn't it also possible the driver simply thought "the car won't hit that truck because I am on autopilot."
  27. Z

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

I know exactly what I am saying and I am obviously speaking my opinion and concern given the facts. In August, Reuters reported that Tesla removed a Chinese term for “self-driving” from its China website after a driver in Beijing had a nonfatal crash while Autopilot was engaged. That driver...
  28. Z

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

That is not my point. My point is Elon was lying about the statistics or at best telling a half truth. Now we have proof that when he said "this is the first autopilot fatality" he knew that one had actually occurred in China.
  29. Z

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

Anyone else equally concerned by the fact this happened in JANUARY? This occurred before the Florida crash and was not disclosed. Additionally, all of the statistics that were previously stated may have been known to be false at the time they were said?

My MS thought a 45mph road was 5mph and tried to reduce my speed to 10mph

Ok, well that is a known issue everyone (that is honest) has experienced. It is obviously a problem and something that has not been resolved. Your concern is valid.
  31. Z

My MS thought a 45mph road was 5mph and tried to reduce my speed to 10mph

The car does not change its set speed while on autopilot unless it deems (sometimes incorrectly) that it is on an undivided 2 lane road. There is a known issue where it will suddenly accelerate to its previous set speed and if you aren't prepared for this it would be quite scary.
  32. Z

My MS thought a 45mph road was 5mph and tried to reduce my speed to 10mph

I get it all of the time when I am on an interstate and the navigation thinks I am on a neighboring road. Let me know if you want videos and I will provide them.

Still Waiting for Elon's Blog Post on Autopilot Update...

You should expect that at any time the lane steer will drive you into any other lane. The only way to safely prevent that is to keep your hands on the wheel and prevent any sudden torque on the wheel. You should also never drive like he did with your foot away from the brake and accelerator...

Language and cultural barriers are real issues and probably contributed to the crash in Montana.. Additionally, there is a lot of misinformation out there on autopilot. LastGas is actually a great example here. The video he watched "Autopilot commute" is not what he should expect his autopilot...

    8.0

I am incredibly excited about 8.0 and I really hope it comes soon so I can decide whether they have addressed some of the serious issues I am having. I know they have a talented team and I can't wait to see it. If they limited autopilot, good for them. I am sure they did it for the right...

Still Waiting for Elon's Blog Post on Autopilot Update...

Are you claiming that manuals alone are sufficient education for operation of dangerous machinery? Why do we require drivers and pilot licenses? Are there any states which place restrictions on autonomous systems and as part of those restrictions require the user be trained in supervising...

Still Waiting for Elon's Blog Post on Autopilot Update...

Citation please. Has Tesla made any attempt to provide formal or informal education on autopilot equal to or surpassing the education provided for non-safety critical functionality? Would it be reasonable, as the owner of a Tesla to expect that Tesla would disclose within 30 days any known...

Ok. this is annoying but I will do it in the interest of public information. Here we go.... I am not claiming that 'I want' anything of the sorts. I am claiming that from a safety standpoint Tesla should put forth at least the same effort to educate customers on new technologies with known...

Still Waiting for Elon's Blog Post on Autopilot Update...

Actually, we should be fair here. Tesla has made no reasonable effort to educate the current owners of the specific limitations and known defects in their TACC, AEB, and auto steer systems. I was given no direction or education upon delivery of the autosteer, TACC, or AEB systems other than to...

NHTSA is very serious about this and you are correct to have noticed that. It is my opinion there will be a recall of Tesla's TACC and AEB systems. These changes are likely an attempt to avoid the official recall. We will see what the folks at NHTSA do but they are well aware of the problems...

I agree. I wouldn't be too worried about the change in nag policy. It is not going to affect anyone properly using the system and is honestly still not enough. They should be doing more to address this issue and I suspect there was some bargaining based on legal' recommendations because at some...

    Auto High Beams

Same thing happened to me at first. But now they "work" just not very well.

    Auto High Beams

I noticed my auto high beams randomly started working a couple of nights ago. However, they tend to constantly go on and off even when cars are not approaching. What has been everyone else's experience with this feature? Is this normal?
