FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It's been my experience since 2018 that when AP capabilities are up graded some ping pong often appears. In subsequent updates it goes away. I think I've probably seen a dozen cycles of that.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

A year ago neither AP or FSD tried to take erroneous turn lanes on highways. FSD is still doing it both to left and right.

    FSD 11.4.4 wide release??

Had a longer 30 mile drive today on 4.4 and it's worse than 4.3. Drastic inappropriate lane changes, braking for cars stopped at 4 lane crossovers. It tried to change into a center lane with a car in it much too close. Scarry, scarry, scarry. Sorry, the truth must be told.

    FSD 11.4.4 wide release??

This darting into right turn lanes at highway speeds make this version very dangerous. They must know about it so the lack of a fix is omlnous.

    FSD 11.4.x experiences

On route on divided 45mph 4 lane highway in right lane car tried to get in a right turn lane to a boat ramp. Lane changing is erratic without obvious purpose. Turned off FSD to Nav on AP and now that is infected with a bug that on empty roads slows to a stop. Now I can't use that either.

    Re-Treaded Tires

I had one blowout in 25 years of airline flying. It was a new tire. Airline tires are retreaded many times.

2022.36.20 (FSD Beta) ran the red light today

3.1 was a step back for me. The steering wheel jerked hard right several times before an unprotected left turn on two lane roads with other cars present.

    NEMA 14-50 home charging advice

The Hubbell and Bryant outlets have v shaped wire clamps which hold the wire much tighter than the screw or flat plate of the cheaper ones. They tighten with Allen wrenches as tight as you can.

Do you use a windshield sunshade?

I bought the kind with the spring metal rim that you twist and it folds in over itself into about a 12 inch diameter circle that I store between the driver's seat and center console. It was about $10 four years ago at Walmart. Much better than accordion folding ones.

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

The driving errors that we're talking about are not subtle and have been around for months through several updates so Tesla doesn't need more info on them. New bugs are reported within hours so when you test and find a glitch pressing the icon once is enough. They need to get from 89% to 99%...

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

The cars do not learn. They only improve when new software is installed. Tesla knows all the problems within hours so it's mostly a waste of time driving on the edge of your seat and punching the report button. The complaints are mostly "driving 101", not esoteric edge cases.

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

Having a lot of testers was supposed to be an advantage in the "March of the 9s" towards 99.999---%reliability target. The basic driving in turns has been nervous and jerky for a year. It seems like they're stuck at 89.999. With normal software errors trouble shooting is more or less possible...

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

Got FSD beta on my new 2022 Y after about 2 1/2 months of ownership. I had it for about 6 months on the 3 that I traded in. Darted right from middle of three lanes when SUV overtook it in left lane. Accelerates too fast in turns. Too much PB. Have turned FSD and Stop light control off until next...

Auto headlights with wipers function deleted

The whole point is this car was designed to be autonomous. The wipers are automatic and the headlights used to automatically come on with the wipers. Now they don't. It's a step backwards for no apparent reason.

Horrible experience with my flat tire

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

I don't think this is true. Whether the car is plugged in or not, the high voltage contactors open and everything runs on 12 vdc. When that gets low. the contactors close and the HVB charges the 12 vdc. Being plugged in just tops off the HVB periodically. I was warned of a deteriorating battery...

    10.9 FSD

Auto steer beta and NOA beta were relatively stress free and useful. I guess qualifying it as " early access" beta removes that experience.

Tesla has a patent for enhancing gps position perhaps to drive in snow or fog. It's similar to the system that does the same to enable gps auto land at airports. If any Tesla in an area of reduced visibility can determine it's precise position by it's sensors other than gps, it can report the...

    FSD on dealership car question

Best home charger - Model 3

For all, insist on a Hubbell industrial type 14-50 outlet. They have < > shaped wire clamps that insure a more robust contact. These connectors and wires get pretty warm. The Hubbells are several times more expensive.

    10.8 FSD

AP/NOA/EAP and FSD beta have actually been doing well on edge cases. AP has been avoiding pedestrians , bikers, etc. for years. Once engaged it has been able to drive on unpaved, unmarked roads well over a year and safely pass oncoming traffic. The only thing it couldn't do was make turns at...

    10.8 FSD

It's not clear that the "things we are bringing up" are being worked on enough. Progress on unprotected turns and inappropriate turning speeds is agonizingly slow. This is what this FSD beta was for; turning and city streets. I have used autopilots for 60 years in boats, airliners and now cars...

    10.8 FSD

FSD Beta is not currently a useful driver assist on city streets. AP/EAP/NOA Betas we're always useful as witnessed by the reduced accident data. In my opinion the FSD beta should not have had as wide a release. It is failing at basic tasks. We are not testing edge cases in the march of the...

    10.8 FSD

Had a pretty good 27 mile rural highway drive on 10.8. A block from home it stopped at a red traffic light behind another car in the thru/left lane. It put the right turn signal on and started to pass the car in front in the right hand turn lane. I disconnected instantly. I wonder if it would...

    10.8 FSD

When you turn off the FSD toggle, it doesn't completely eliminate the driving bugs, witness the hard braking for absolutely no reason that hadn't happened since about two years ago with EAP/NOA. EAP/NOA enhance safety. I'm too old to exert the constant high stress monitoring FSD beta requires...

    10.8 FSD

I had turned FSD beta off yesterday and it jammed on the brakes on a suburban 30 mph road fortunately with no traffic so it's borderline unsafe even with FSD off. One more chance. Then I'll go back to nice smooth AP/EAP/NOA and follow the forum till it's useable then opt back in. By then they...

    10.8 FSD

Took a brief night drive yesterday and it seemed improved. Today a different story. It got distracted to the center by a large tree shadow on unmarked road and jerked back. Unsafely hesitant on turns or else takes them like a skid test. Web sites in browser cannot access GPS so many like Waze...

    10.6.1

Tried 10.6.1 today. Somewhat better but still won't satisfactorily make unprotected left from my unmarked residential street onto 2 lane marked through street. It creeps forward while almost getting into left lane at the stop sign, then stalls at a 45 deg. angle in the oncoming lane with no...

    FSD Beta 10.6

It didn't do right turns very well either. There was a distant car approaching from the left and it waited until the last safe second to turn in front of it. So it makes protected turns often but not unprotected so that's 50% for the city streets AP. The EAP/AP/NOA has worked well for years so...
