    New Tesla App Easter Egg

Confirmed to work on a model 3 and Android Lots of hidden detail in there. Fuel chamber: 300R The location is apparently the address of Puenta Hills Mall (where the mall scenes were filmed) The upcoming service time is obviously relevant P88D! The odometer 33062 is apparently what the odometer...

    Miles

Over 8K miles in 3 months. Most of that was a 3 week road trip - over 5600 miles from Fort Worth Texas through the south west US. Farthest point was San Francisco. Absolutely was a great experience! This car is a road trip king!

    Chip inside Charge Port Door

Mine fell out about 5000 miles ago. I've had no issues charging at home, super charging, destination charging or even charging with J1772 adapter. Only issue I've found is that I can't tap the door to open it. I still have the part and will bring it up next time I have enough minor issues to...

    How to check supercharge transactions?

I've found that it is only visible on the desktop version of the site. I can't find it either on a mobile device.

    2018.18.13

I do start the AC before walking out via the app. However, to prevent damage, I wouldn't mind spending some range if throughout the day the car kept it below the level need to boil an egg. A couple of weeks ago, the internal temp got up to 158, and the Texas summer is just getting going. 158...

    2018.18.13

I found that 2018.18.3 added a hidden Cabin Overheat Protection. No controls for it, but on that version, the car NEVER got over 105 internal. Seems that 2018.18.13 removed that feature. It's currently 128 inside the cabin, and it's not yet noon here in Texas. And I did leave my windows open...

What's your top feature request that could be accomplished via software update?

Software option to leave 12V and USB powered when car shuts down. Ideally two options - "One Time" or "Every Time". I could see a One Time use case when the cell phone is dead and you want to leave it charging in the car. The Every Time would be GREAT for those with dash cams to keep them...

    UMC Cable Diameter

Approximately 0.475 inch according to my cheap calipers. Basically JUST a touch under a half inch. This is the GEN2 UMC that comes with the model 3.

You Should have got the red..

Ehh.. Worth it. :) Actually, regardless of the color, I'm worried that this car alone will get me a few tickets. It is SO... SO much fun to drive.
  10. Craig-Tx

You Should have got the red..

I completely agree the red with the bare aero wheels is a great look! Hope you get your issues resolved quickly.

    2018.18.3

So far, the update did NOT help my Phone Key issues.
  12. Craig-Tx

    Firmware Update?

I also just got 2018.18.3. Based on https://ev-fw.com/track-reports.php I'm guessing 18.3 is going to roll out to many shortly.

    Model 3 console wrap

A couple of images of the Abstract Ocean brushed steel wrap. The cupholder cutout was absolutely perfect!

    Firmware Update?

My understanding... No, No. Currently they come when / if they come. Elon has tweeted of rumors of a future capability to request an update, but as of now, the only known way to actually request a push is through a service center. But I do believe that is quite bad form to ask them to push it...

    Model 3 console wrap

Ok, to all those on the fence, install was easy. The transfer film over the cupholders was a great idea! I'm certain I would have screwed it up without that. This material is very forgiving, I did pull up a corner or two a couple of times to get the alignment right. No issues pulling it up...

Awesome! Thanks Pete! I received mine yesterday. (With the screen protector). Everything was packed very securely. Can't wait to find a bit of time to install.

Best current finance rates in Dallas TX?

So far I've been happy with them. They did a great job getting the loan paperwork done and check to Tesla. I haven't done anything more with them yet, so that's all I can go by.

Best current finance rates in Dallas TX?

Best rate I got was with RBFCU | Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union has locations throughout Texas, including San Antonio, Austin and Dallas.. (I was very pleased with their service.) I've heard CUTX (Loading site please wait...) has good rates, but Tarrant Co was too far west to qualify for...

Texas Deliveries Without Front License Plate Mount?

So far... no problems at all. However, I just picked up the Model 3 about 10 days ago and while I am not currently sporting a front plate... I'm also not sporting a rear plate. Still waiting on my actual plates. As for my original concern, My model 3 can delivered with the front bracket...

Model 3 Aero Wheel Cap Kit

Thanks! I like the Blue as well, but I really like how the red makes the real wheel with the hubcaps removed really pop.
  21. Craig-Tx

    Model 3 console wrap

Mine is red with Aero wheels. I haven't yet decided to change any of the exterior chrome, but if you needed a red model for a photo or something, just let me know. I may like the look and decide to keep it. :)

    Model 3 console wrap

Glad I saw this. I was about to order from RPM. I'd rather deal locally. If you need another car to test / photo different finishes... let me know. :) I'm in North Fort Worth.

Torklift Central Stealth EcoHitch for Model 3

I'm curious as to why you would prefer the 1.25" over the 2". My understanding is that the 2" receiver is a lot more flexible. For bike racks, you can easily adapt the smaller tube into the larger receiver. It's a bit more difficult to go the other way. Of course if you already have a...

    HPWC SER vs Romex Wire?

Yeah, all this discussion has some good ideas. One option depending on your scenario / situation is to run a much cheaper Aluminum SER feed to a sub panel in the garage. Perhaps even a 120A feed. (No idea on cost of 120 vs 100) If the panel is very close, you could simply run a very short 60...

    HPWC SER vs Romex Wire?

Depending on your scenario, you may not be able to pass an inspection if you go this route. Romex (and likely SER) cable cannot be exposed. It must be protected from physical damage. I believe it may be acceptable in garages above a certain height (i.e. near the ceiling) but not likely at the...
  28. Craig-Tx

    HPWC SER vs Romex Wire?

For Romex (NM-B) and SER cable used in insulation, you must size the cables per the 60 degree ampacity limits. 2 AWG limit at 60 deg is 95 amps. THHN and Conduit is always a great idea when possible. I can't speak to the OP's situation, but when I ran my circuit, I had to cut about 8 holes in...

    HPWC SER vs Romex Wire?

Standard Disclaimer - I'm not a professional... seek advice... etc.etc. It seems that SE cable is frequently used in Branch circuits and is permitted per NEC 338.10 (check with local authorities for your area...) You may also look for other electrical supply as you don't need 3 conductor for...

Model 3 Front row fast charging hub

Same. I've looked around, but I can only seem to find ones that have an internal Li ion battery. Being that I live in Texas, I'd rather not leave anything in my vehicle that has a Li ion battery. The cabin temp in a vehicle in the hot summer is way too high for my own comfort. Ideally I'd...

    Issues with 110v gfic outlets

Please do. One thing to keep in mind is that GFCI circuits are fairly basic and not entirely accurate. While they are deigned to trip at a set leak current (~5 mA) remember most of these are installed by the builder and are therefore the absolute cheapest they could find using the cheapest...

  34. Craig-Tx

    Issues with 110v gfic outlets

Was it tripping the circuit breaker? Or tripping the GFCI circuit? Most GFCI receptacles have two buttons (TEST and RESET) If it's those then it's the GFCI circuit. If it's tripping the circuit breaker, you would have to reset it in the electrical panel. If it's the GFCI circuit, I wonder...

    VIN Assigned!

That does sound totally normal and non-obsessive. I probably checked my account 2 to 3 times per hour until I got my VIN. In fact I'm still probably checking my account a few times a day even after my VIN has been assigned. (Not sure what I'm looking for now, but I can't seem to kick that F5...

    Bridge Loan for Tax Credit

Alternatively, what I've done, is adjust my W4 Withholdings significantly higher so they will take much less taxes out throughout the year. Rather than getting a big refund next spring, I'll get it over the next 9 months. Sure that won't help with a bigger down payment, but it also gets the...

Nonowners - If you don't get the full 7500 tax credit, will you get the car?

No option for Yes and not waiting. Although I will be getting the car with the $7500, I made up my mind some time ago I was getting the vehicle even if I missed out on the tax credit. On top of that, Texas has a $2500 EV incentive program that I will be missing out due to corrupt politicians...

    Feature Wish List

Ability to set the USB / 12V outlets to remain on after vehicle shuts down. Ideally you could set them for one time, or always. Obviously it would need logic such that if the 12V voltage drops below a threshold it will shut them down. Would really like a constant power source for dashcam Also...

    Lug cap cover

Sounds good. I think I'll continue to try to buy the lug nut cover / cap kit from Tesla. Then when you offer this, I'll already have the caps.

Very interested. I take it we would still have to provide the "T" center caps?

    What's next?

Agreed! I previously had a 2 car garage. Now I have a great setup. My house has a one car garage (my wife uses), AND a separate two car garage that holds my car as well as bikes, tools, lawn gear, ... The best part being separate is I can start a project and not impact my wife's parking...

    What's next?

My next planned obsessions in no particular order - Enhancements to the Model 3 (New Firmware, etc.) - Tesla Pickup - Solar - I'm surprised I didn't see this already in this thread (could have missed it though)
