Anyone else have Time of Use (TOU) rates with Eversource?

I have solar and I am on net metering time of use.... I thought my bill was confusing when I was only on net metering, now I don't understand it at all. I just started on this in January, and I am basically doing it as an experiment for this year. The peak rates are 9am - 6pm June through...

Dedham Store swamped with new Teslas!

Hmmm.... not sure actually, my wife makes me run a thousand errands on Saturdays, and I lose track. But, the silver metallic is a bit on the stealthy side, so I tend to not have too many "tesla moments"... although I did have one at the supercharger. -JCL

NSTAR and the Dwindling Off-Peak Economies of TOU

Hello, New Tesla owner in Arlington here. I also have solar, and generally right on the edge of net 0 for the year, but I expect the car will put me over and I will have a small electric bill in the winter. The way I read this, it would be like this, let me know if my numbers work (calc...

    Tesla will match Carmax price

Edmunds / Kelly was $31K Tesla offered me $26K My dealer (Subaru) offered me $31K, -$750 for some minor scratches Popular local car buyer, same as dealer, maybe without the scratch deduction Carmax was $31K with no deduction, and I save $2,000 in sales tax None of the others were going to give...

Does anyone here have a new 75kwH MS?

Question for you guys. This is all very interesting, but does it really do us S60 (75) owners any good unless Tesla officially sanctions charging to 100% all the time? Because as I understand it, even if we are 100% correct, and let's say something did go wrong with your battery under...

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

Yup, not shown as a supercharger on the map. And yes, it is right in the middle of a town, not near a highway. So my nearest one is a good 30 minute drive. -JCL

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

OK, not looking to go too far off topic (or turn this into AVS forum), and I have nothing against Monster or their products, but note that those power conditioners they sell are just very fancy line conditioners and/or isolation transformers with a few extra features. For a fraction of the cost...

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

I did not think about that issue with the charging speed, but it makes sense now that you explain it. It does make me more comfortable. I am assuming it is better for battery longevity as well, yes? On the home theater, I could see *maybe* when I initially power up the system, and there is an...

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

I need to check, there is a service center just one town over, about a 15-minute drive or so. I assume it is likely they have superchargers there? Maybe. If so, then this would do that for me. -JCL

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

Thank you very much Joe. I was about to drop $500+ on a second cable or charger, but you and others have convinced me just to stick with the one it comes with and the NEMA 14-50. Hell, you are driving 100 miles a day, I don't use my car to commute, I ride my bicycle or take the subway. So my...

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

Interesting. Did you do this in the same year that you bought the car? Because others have said that you might not get it if you are also claiming the $7,500 credit on the car. JCL
  26. JCL123

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

Right, I think we are on the same page. I don't think the theater+car will do it by itself, it's what the rest of the family is doing at the time. The good news is that my dryer, oven, heating, and water heater are all natural gas. The things that are high draw in my house are the two central...

OK, that is helpful. And thanks for the link to the OpenEV store, I didn't know about that one. I think I will stick with my 14-50 and the UMC for now, I feel better with that based on all the replies I have here now. many thanks JCL

advice needed on budgeting for solar panels, charging

No worries, I have lived in CA in the past, but I will spare you. Massachusetts has plenty of problems to worry about. Ouch, those tiered rates sound bad. There is talk of the regular rates getting up to about $.23/kWh, because of "natural gas lines that are too small" of all things. The...

advice needed on budgeting for solar panels, charging

Hello, I am getting my 60D in about a week. I have 24 300W panels, in real-world use I have seen them hit 6kW peak, and I have hit 1.2MWh in one month. My entire house is LED, and it is only 2 years old, and I have done allot to conserve. Right now I can go the whole year with no electric...

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

OK, this is great advice, thank you very much. Bummer on the tax credit, but my electrician only charged me $300 total anyways. Maybe I will buy the HPWC next year so that I can take advantage of the tax credit, if it is still available. On the sharing, just wanted to try and be a good EV...
  33. JCL123

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

That is good on the tax credit... and that includes the cost of the HPWC if I get one? If so, I will probably order it right away since they are back ordered. I see your point on the plugshare, but everyone probably has the same issue unless they make the charger accessible from the outside or...

  35. JCL123

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

Maybe. So far I have: 13 channels x 200W = 2600 watts 4 subs x 400W = 1600 watts Projector 300W Total: 4,500W There is also a bunch of smaller things. I realize the theater amps don't use anywhere near that continuously, but I am worried that if I am watching something with allot of action and...

HPWC vs. others + questions (new S60D owner)

Hello, My S60D arrives in about a week, and I have already had my electrician install a 14-50 in the garage, ready to go. I did not get the "dual chargers" option because for now I think the single charger will be enough, and my whole house only has 100A service, so likely I could not...

    Just placed order for 60D...

I was warned by a car buying company to always try and by a new car "loaded" if you can, because it makes it much easier to resell. I have to say the sunroof on the Tesla is really unique, I actually do like it. And it allows roof racks, and affects the high end sound system. I can't stand...

You changed your mind 3 times on autopilot? In my new theater, I am running interduct with string in it, then I can pull any kinds of wires I need in the future. Fiberoptics still aren't much use in a residential environment. -JCL

    Just placed order for 60D...

OK, I really appreciate the warning, I will use caution. Mine was a 2016 Outback (I got a really good trade in quote from Carmax) so I am assuming I had whatever the "latest and greatest" eyesight was. I really liked the Eyesight system, when I got it I was taking a chance that it would not...

    Just placed order for 60D...

Here are some pictures of the previous theater, I had to disassemble it when I moved. I am currently building the new one in my new house (with many improvements). The new one will have a 12' screen instead of the 10' one in the picture. You can't really tell, but all the speakers and wires...

    Just placed order for 60D...

Well, it is up to $3K to add now. Initially I was just not adding it because I could add it later, maybe when it is even more refined and developed. I certainly would be very careful with it. It took me a bit to even trust the adaptive cruise control in my Subaru.
  45. JCL123

    Just placed order for 60D...

Yeah, if you built the addition specifically for the home theater, then I would count it. If you just "decided" to do that later, maybe not. Because in my book, the difference between a home theater and just a "surround sound" setup, is sound and light treatments, which make a huge difference...

  47. JCL123

    Just placed order for 60D...

Sure, it's a dedicated home theater in the basement. By the time you hire a contractor to build the room, and an acoustic engineer to help with the sound material so you don't blast the neighbors, you are already into $30-$40k easy. A projector that can do a 12' screen (without sounding like a...

WTB - MS w/AWD and child seats (Boston / NE)

Hello, I am looking to take the plunge and buy my first Tesla, and I thought I would try my luck at used before going new. I have been looking at the pre-owned inventory on the site and there are absolutely no all-wheel-drive models available, and the rear child seats are hard to find also...
