The situation you're commenting on is from a different poster than the original, who only said he got a message saying he could get the transfer. No further info from him.
We've made the trip from San Diego to Seattle a couple of times in a 2016 model S75. Last time we ditched the I5 on the way back at Mt. Shasta and went through Lassen Natl. Park to Susanville, Reno, and Mammoth. That was before there were any SCs between Shasta and Reno. Stopped at the Red Lion...
We have a 2016 model S. As mentioned, you have to purchase EAP for $3k, which gives you TACC, automatic lane change, and basic summon feature. Also, who knows if it's still available. The hardware is there, so I would guess yes.
I'm in the same boat with a 2016.5 model s75, just waiting another month or 5 to see if the FUSC transfer comes back. Ours has 80k miles and is in perfect condition, range down to around 220, but they were only offering $12,500 trade-in. I was going to try and sell it for $20k. After driving...
Could it be the dreaded RDU (rear drive unit) failure? Although I thought that was accompanied by a message. More common in 2015 and older, from what I've read.
Yeah, from my conversations with their reps, I got the impression that they'd rather not get the trade-in. Trade-in numbers seemed ridiculously low. I think it's just an end-of-quarter inventory reduction scheme. Which I'd be more than happy to take them up on, given the chance.
ditto. We had the car in for a minor recall thing and found out by overhearing someone else discussing it with one of the reps. This was on a Wednesday and you had to take delivery that Sunday. No idea why there was no notification. Checking frequently now.
Charge to 100% overnight at home and that's not a problem. We have a 2016 S75 that has at least 20k miles of long distance trips. Just following the navigation charging stops, I've never had to charge 6 times a day. Latest was San Diego to Dallas (1360m) in April. Charged 8 times in each...
I'd second those points. We have a 2018 model 3 and a 2016.5 model S. I drive the model 3 mostly and my wife the S. But it's always the S (with FUSC) for trips. For my taste it's just more comfortable/fun to drive. Looking to get a new one at the next opportunity to transfer the FUSC.
Possible, I guess. I've gotten others as well. I had a couple of sales reps put me on their list, just in case. And check in here more frequently than previously.
Don't count on an email. We received no email last quarter or the end of 2023 when the FUSC transfer promotion was available. Would have jumped on it but only found out 3 days before it expired.
We have a (originally) 2016 model 60. As I recall, I discovered on this forum that all of the 60s, 70s, and 75s have the same physical battery that, in the case of the 60s and 70s, are software limited. At the time there was an upgrade available to upgrade the 60 to a 75 for around $5000+(?)...
This just came out. I believe it's still being tested, but early reviews are mostly positive.

I've mentioned this elsewhere. We had traveled to Atlanta from San Diego twice (2018, 2019) in our 2016 S75. With the lack of SC coverage between Tucson and Dallas, we had to go from Phoenix to Flagstaff and then I-40 to OKC, before turning to Dallas and on to Atlanta. That adds at least 2 of...
You're fortunate. We never got notified and would have jumped at the offer. Only found out about it by accident 2 days before it expired (March 31). Would have had to taken delivery by then. Just not enough time. Rumor has it, the promotion will (possibly) return at some point as it had in the past.
We have the same 2016 s75 and have taken it on at least 8 trips of 1500m or more, including two to Atlanta in 2017 and 2018 before the SC network was as built out as it is now. Never had a problem. Granted, those two trips were a little longer than they would be today. That would be because the...
This looks like it might solve at least two of those problems: Model X/S Gear Shift Stalk Switch Turn Signal Lever Kit for Tesla
There are a couple of threads here about it.
Our experience with 7+ years of roadtrips is similar. Just got back to San Diego from a trip to Dallas for the eclipse. We've driven to Atlanta and back twice, Seattle twice, Jackson Hole 3 times, Park City 3 or 4 times and numerous trips to the bay area, all with no real problems. This was the...
Watched the video. I'm wondering what safety considerations there are with removing the airbag. I would have to assume there's a lot more info supplied with the product than just the installation video.
They're definitely looking to relieve the inventory glut and the layoffs are not a good sign. I've noticed the same thing about the model S inventory here. Looks about the same as at the end of last month. We were in the showroom here yesterday asking some questions about the model S that arose...
Talked to a guy today at Van Horn, Tx. charger who had a brand new model S. We never got notified of this promotion and found out during a visit to the service center on March 27 for a minor recall. Not enough time to pull the trigger before that Sunday and would have jumped at the chance. The...
We were leaving Tucson on Saturday morning as the line was building in east Tucson and the nav told us to go back to charge, since Wilcox was 'completely' down. Since we were fully charged, we slowed down, did some drafting, intending to limp to Deming. Then stopped at Wilcox, since the app was...
That's what I'm thinking. She'll get used to it. I'll start steering her in the right direction until the next opportunity comes along. With summon not currently available, we'll definitely be waiting until that's resolved. It was her major reason for buying the current one in the first place...
Well, that's annoying. Just googled this and looks like it was discontinued early last year. Some were saying the feature would be available at the end of 2023, but now they're saying testing still in progress and it will be available 'soon'. Looks like a lot of people who didn't read the fine...
Well, given the haste with which we had to check this out and that we weren't impressed with the knowledge of the rep we were dealing with, I wouldn't be surprised if we were given the wrong info. The claim was that to get both summon and TACC required EAP ($6k) and only basic CC was free. After...
Yeah, that won't work. Our other car is a 3. She's always liked the S more. But I think I can have her convinced by the next time this opportunity comes up.
We never upgraded to what passed for FSD on the S75, but do have EAP which was all that we wanted (summon and TACC), but the promotion is only to transfer lifetime supercharging and FSD, not just EAP. I'm convinced due to battery improvement and size, AWD, etc., but the wife doesn't like the...
My wife took in our 2016 model S for a warranty replacement of the battery fuse on March 27, and while in the waiting room overheard a conversation between another customer and a sales person. They were discussing trade-in of her model S with lifetime charging. Apparently there has been a...
Some sort of network outage/performance issue. Both of our cars having internet problems, navigation, streaming, etc. Supposedly, connecting to your phone hotspot with wifi is a workaround. Issue is apparently all over the west coast and as far east as New Mexico.
I paid one of Tesla's 'authorized installers' $650 and had the plug placed right next to the box inside the garage + swapping out a couple of breakers.
My daughter and I were taking her Mazda back to the bay area and stopped there between 12:15 and 1:15. I think part of the problem (at least at the time) was the fact that 41 was shutdown both directions about 1/4 mile east with a rollover and the tow truck blocking all lanes. Everything was...
Originally bought a S75 in September of 2016 (there was a good lease deal going on) to get to the top of the m3 list. Ended up buying out the lease last year and then buying the MR3 to replace a 2011 Lexus CT200h. Reliable but gutless which was only more pronounced after dirving the S for a while.
My neighborhood has probably 40% tile roofs. Most people (including us) just had the tiles removed where the panels were placed and replaced with regular shingles. Then put tiles back around the perimeter of the panels.
