    Let's talk radar!

Yes it can! The camera is pretty good detecting cars’ front and back. Firetrucks and sides of white semis, not so much

Model 3 will generate cash flow of $10,000 per year at a minimum on an autonomous taxi platform

That’s one of those things someone can say, and I’m totally blown away and can’t even think of a gif to reply with. Congrats, mate, you got me hard and well there.

    Tesla autopilot HW3

I drove an AP 2.5 car a few days ago and I'm pleased to report that I was pleased to get back in my AP1 car :) EDIT: Ok so it was cool to see all the visualizations (which were kind of choppy though), and I can't say I've tried NOA yet, but I maintain that AP1 feels far more reliable. I guess...

    How will Tesla demo FSD?

It’d be best if AK did the talking IMO. Last thing we need is more woo-woo from the woo-woo man :)

    How will Tesla demo FSD?

It’s gonna be some kind of Terminator-style live event with smoke and driverless cars rolling out on stage. Then a bunch of talk. Then some Men In Black suits, aka «safety drivers», will take rides with screaming crazy tesla fans.

Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

Man I’m having such a hard time with the concept of something-something being «an FSD feature» (all the while you’re never allowed to take your eyes away from the road or car while using it).... I guess it’s SAE’s fault :)

    Behold HW3 ( First pics ) !!!!

70 does not mean retrofit. Loads of part numbers in the manual has «70» before the letter. I’m inclined to think it has more to do with region, or maybe revision (the letter usually signifies revision, though). Part number is of course different for 2.0 and 2.5. But the 3.0 is the same for S and X

Or use your finger nails! :) Wrt the actual retrofit procedure: On S/X, replacing the Autopilot ECU shouldn't take very long. Perhaps half an hour or so, this will depend on the SC tech's experience, as well as the quality of the factory install. Back when AP2.0 was all the news, @kdday made...

On all vehicle types it’s mounted inside the dashboard, passenger side. Above footwell, glove box area. Enhanced Summon: slow-mo driving in parking lots

My AP1 car has an EyeQ3 chip that can detect pedestrians, and ultrasonics that does self-parking and summon. I bet my U-box chip is decent enough as well. I'm sure @wk057 can develop the same Enhanced Summon on his (wife's) AP1 car that we're seeing on these videos!

    Tesla Autopilot maps

Yah, the newer the more reliable. So a disagreement such as this: «HD map: Stop sign, timestamped 3 minutes ago» versus «NN: Splattered bug on windshield, no visual on any stop sign» should perhaps send some brake command (unless «NN: Semi truck at full speed 1 meter behind you»). Or...?

    Tesla Autopilot maps

  37. lunitiks

    Tesla Autopilot maps

The camera sensors / NNs could be completely or partially blind for a road sign (or something else stationary), e.g. due to fog or rain or light conditions. When that’s the case, an HD map is obviously good redundancy. So I anticipate your next question: How would the cameras (NNs) know that...
