Supercharger - Oakville, ON - Speers Road

It is up! But this place is busy. I went by to check it out and 6/8 slots were full. It seems to be heavily utilized at least when I was checking it out on the nav screen. Interesting how an 8 stall L3 charging station that would be considered large 5 years ago feels small now. I hope Tesla...

Supercharger - Mississauga, ON - N Service Road

Both this and the Oakville station seems fully ready to go but is not turned on yet. Not sure what's the delay.

This seems ready to go, I wonder what they are waiting for.

DRL Yellowing Issue - Blown LED or FW?

The problem is that they can't just replace the led strip, which would be a $20 of parts, but have to replace the entire light assembly. With how many of these are broken, you think they can charge much less to refurbish them instead.

Mobile connector 3 red blinking lights

Interesting. I tried 3 receptors at my house, will go to neighbour and see tomorrow.

Mobile connector 3 red blinking lights

Got the same 3 red blinks. Had been happening once in a while and it would seemingly fix itself after a while. Today, it failed again and it seems to be for good. Holding down the reset button on the back while plugging in didn't help. Changing sockets didn't help. I think it is dead. It was my...

Syncing SolarEdge Inverter Output with Tesla Charge Rate

I am on a net metering program where the rates are tiered, so the rates for electricity goes up as my consumption increase in 2 tier system. Electricity consumption and produced are metered separately, so given my production is less then consumption, it is best for me to actually net out my...

Model S Cabin Heater Stopped Working

I bought my car in for service and they replaced the PTC heater and a fuse. Cost about $1200 CAD after parts, labor and tax.

Is it just me or does it seems like it is always 3 months away?

Model S Cabin Heater Stopped Working

I called the roadside line and they confirms that there are some error messages concerning the PTC heater, looks like it would require some fixing at the service apt in 2 weeks

Model S Cabin Heater Stopped Working

Yeah... I have never had a heater fail on me in any other car, many much older than this Model S. But I suppose ICE car heater work differently, as it basically blows air over the radiator coil taking waste heat from the engine. Still, sucks for it to be happening on some of the coldest days. As...

Model S 'Vent' only opens windows but does not close them?

The issue with the windows up notification for me is that it says windows are open even when the windows are up. I haven’t seen any calibration method that actually works.

Model S Cabin Heater Stopped Working

2017 Model S here Everything had been well for almost 5 years, on my last drive today, it felt suspiciously cold and realized that no warm air is coming out from the vents despite setting of 18C (it was -12C outside). The dash energy graph also did not show the slight consumption when car is...

Model S 'Vent' only opens windows but does not close them?

They must, as it tells me if rear seat passengers don’t have seat belt buckles. Only warns if someone is sitting there.

Is the Web browser supposed to suck?

I am resigned to the fact that the browser doesn’t work. Just put it on autopilot, and pull out the phone instead.

How is your rear camera after MCU1 to MCU2 upgade (dark?)

I had this issue with my 2017 100D after MCU2 upgrade, but doesn’t seem to be a problem anymore. Either I got used to it, or it was fixed in some firmware since.

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

Wait a minute… I have a 2017 model s, about 100k miles and is still on the original 12V. Is mine an outlier that it lasted so long? Are there any signs that it is about to go so I can replace it then, or should I proactively replace it to avoid being stranded?

NVH Extreme Vibration in Front On Hard Acceleration and Yellowing Screen on Model S and X Poor Service Department

At least go get your screen UV fixed. You see it every drive and it will make you less upset.

NVH Extreme Vibration in Front On Hard Acceleration and Yellowing Screen on Model S and X Poor Service Department

That’s not true. Tesla is one of the only car companies that would upgrade your car through software years after. I even got my slow MCU1 upgraded to MCU2 and it felt like a new car. Yes you have to pay for it, but other car mfg won’t even let you. I do admit they can do a better job on some...

NVH Extreme Vibration in Front On Hard Acceleration and Yellowing Screen on Model S and X Poor Service Department

I had this exact problem. 2017 100D. Brought it to their attention when car was only a year or so old. They said it was normal. Brought it to them again a year later and they applied the instruction you posted. It seemed to fixe the problem. But last week I noticed it was back. When accelerating...

Is the Web browser supposed to suck?

That progress bar doesn’t seems real. I think it is a UI trick to make the unknown loading time more tolerable.

A FLAT should NOT be this difficult!

Where do you put that? Does it take up most of the trunk? Spare gotta be a mandatory equipment or at least specs gotta be adjusted for it lacking. Like a big red dot or empty checkbox or something. A car spec would look better (more storage, less weight) if there are no spare but the absence or...

Is the Web browser supposed to suck?

MCU1 browser is totally unusable, except for maybe special lightweight sights made specifically for Tesla browser. MCU2 is somewhat usable on simpler sites, but just barely. Dont try to load any complex sites.

Trickle charge 12V battery to stop vampire drain?

I would say it would be easiest to hook up the trickle charger to an always on circuit. The amp on a trickle charger would be low, something like 1A so anywhere would do. You might be able to get a trickle charger that connects through the cigarette lighter, though you will have to replace a...

A FLAT should NOT be this difficult!

I have jacked my model S lots of times for winter/summer tire swap and never had an issue. I just find the jack points indicated and lift away. The only issue I had was with the jack sinking into the asphalt driveway that was heated by the sun.

Prep for being off-charger for 2 weeks

I won’t sweat it too much, 2 weeks is no big deal. I have done that a few times on trips and left the car at the airport. If you are at 70% plus it would be fine. Make sure: Turn summon standby off Turn HVAC off Turn sentry mode off I would leave mobile access on so you can see what’s going...

    Fuel saving opinions please

Older free unlimited super charging enabled cars would transfer and there is nothing against commercial use as long as that is not prohibited when they bought the car, you can’t change the contract after it is executed. TeslaLoop was such an outfit before. However, I would suggest a newer...

Is it safe to connect a large inverter to the 12V battery?

I have tried to use a jackery 1500 pack to backfeed into my house panel while being charged by the car. It works, as long as I keep the power draw under 1800w. However, the fastest I can charge it is with 2xAC charger and it max out at 560W, pulling about 700w from the car, probably 750-800W...

2021 Refresh: Model S (and X?) Changes to 12v System

Something is off, if you use a normal silicon based diode (almost all of them are that), your voltage drop would be around 0.7V when current is flowing. Now, if no current if flowing at all, then you won’t get any drop. But as soon as you start to flow current it will drop 0.7v. Make sure you...

2021 Refresh: Model S (and X?) Changes to 12v System

This is a tricky thing to do as V drop across the resister will vary based on current. An alternative is to use a diode of sufficient power rating and get a 0.7V drop per diode. These solutions to burn power and may work for low power accessories, but is not suitable for mid to high power...

2021 Refresh: Model S (and X?) Changes to 12v System

So what is the actual voltage of the LV system? If it is 16.8V, then many accessories will not work.

    12V Access: Model S 2021 Refresh

You are right 16.5V +\- 0.5. Did anyone measure the plaid S to see what the voltage actually is, if it is <16V then this would work. The renogy 2kw unit has idle power draw of 24w, not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I have a 2017 mode s, 1st set of lights replaced under warranty due to blown eyebrows around 2019 with 45k miles. I believe they were revision D. Both are now dying agin at near 95k miles. The replacement are not better than the original. Not going to replace them out of warranty, just hope they...

2021 Refresh: Model S (and X?) Changes to 12v System

if you are plugging in a cell phone charger or something then 15 or 16v may be Ok. But if you are plugging in an inverter, they are going to much more sensitive. I have yet to see a “12V” unit that won’t shut down past 15.5V

    No Front Camera View?

The front camera will not help much with parking even if it can be displayed. The position high on the windshield means that it won’t see much more than you own eyes can. For that to work as a manual parking aid, it would have to be located in or below the front bumper. However, it may be...

    12V Access: Model S 2021 Refresh

Can u tell me which inverter you are using? Mine shuts down at 15V.
  47. S

    No Front Camera View?

That is exactly how it is supposed to look. That view never shows the front camera. It is meant as a driving aid to help you see what is behind and besides you. No need for front camera as you can just look forward. The dash cam recording will include front cameras too.
  48. S

    No Front Camera View?

That should not be the case. Take the card out and check your on your computer.

    12V Access: Model S 2021 Refresh

Check the voltage, it was observed that 12V on new model S is more like 15.5V so normal 12V inverters may not work.
