intel platforms uniformly had 4G RAM and 64G EMMC (that's much slower than NVMe)

Discussion: HW.4 Suite - Availability, retrofit, suitability etc.

you are incorrect. AMD 3/y always had 16G RAM / 256G NVMe (until now that US-made model Ys with hw4 have half that) It's the s/x that had 8/128 for all of 2021 and January 2022, and then upgraded to match 3/y and which is why older s/x refresh cars cannot run steam.

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

it's progress, it's just towards some other goals, not towards some actual autonomy. the distant crash is the target hitting against sidelines as it departs the path it was promised to be on more and more towards the actual goals it was always moving to. bad argument. Not all humans have died...

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

this is correct. Not a single aspect of autonomy got better because... there's no autonomy in Tesla cars. It's driver assist all the way down. See how much more restrictive driver monitoring became compared to 2018? Some might argue it means the autonomy got worse (I am not one of those people...

the words are not buzzwords when used correctly by people that know what they are talking about, but when used like you do they are buzzwords. you say them, but you are just parroting other people, you do not measure anything yourself, and you don't even know what the people you are parroting...

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

Nope. If you recheck the autopilot page, you will remember that the FSD Capability end goal was always declared to have a "human in the driver's seat" (typically we call those people "drivers") in all cases so that eventually that human would not have to do anything in all cases. So it's a...

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

That does not answer my question, just evades it. It's computer science, and you clearly see the departure from local maxima, so you should be able to explain what and how you are measuring to see this, pretty simple, right? Otherwise it's just buzzwords that you repeat pecause they sound cool...

so what are you measuring (and how) that was reaching local maxima in v10 and got downhill with v11?
  13. V

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

"they just replaced the codebase, that's why it's flaky" is the excuse you gave. gotta use fancy buzzwords to find excuses for one's favorite toy.
  14. V

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

and they did it for like 4th time in the past 5 or so years and will keep doing it going forward and as such you will always have a chance to use this excuse. The problem is: it does not really help anybody that just want the functionality they (believe) they paid for.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

this map server was added relatively long time ago, I just only recently looked into it. This is what provides alternate routes, parking lot outlines and so on. Features keep getting added. It's in use no matter if you are on the beta or not. The "suspension adjustments for rough roads" is also...

there are some limited settings that could be persisted. There are actually two (three, but third is only for dev cars) sets, some ap-related stuff in ap firmwares, some ap related stuff on infotainment most of which (but not all) you can control in the settings UI. And then there are maps. I...

2022 Tesla Model 3 LR Projector to Matrix headlight retrofit

yes, toolbox only lets you change 3 options: wheel type, tow package and ecall. But that has nothing to do with secured configs. you can freely change a lot of other stuff taking directly to the gateway. The "signed config" you described is only required for relatively few options like vin...

Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

Yeah, but he long insisted that his statements are just his opinion and nobody should be taking those seriously or something along those lines. Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

in fact it is completely wrong to say "Waymo does not work in my city and NOA works" because obviously NOA does not work in the same sense waymo works anywhere. The proper statement I think is "I can drive my Tesla anywhere where I can physically get it to with whatever assist features that...

How common are 2020 Ravens? (performance or LR)

there's a different battery. Also there are TWO LR+ versions. one from beginning of 2020 and another from middle 2020. The latter one has a slightly bigger battery (bigger than 2021 refresh even, which is why 2021 refresh has less range) and a big thicker wires from charge port which allows it...

I know how to do it, but because Tesla does not want to provide a streamlined official way to do it, airing the unofficial ways in the open in public just leads Tesla to work overtime to ensure those ways no longer work.

2022 Tesla Model 3 LR Projector to Matrix headlight retrofit

the set gw config odin task only allows unlimited changing for Tesla personnel, if you purchased access to toolbox as a 3rd-party, then you can only use it to change tow package, car color and tires type variables, nothing else. Also your syntax is wrong.

tthere are about zero problems (and it was always like that, no recent changes) installing matrix headlights and redeploying firmware (ecu-only reinstall in the service mode menu). don't even need any acces to the compute to see this, there's a clearly defined scheduling plan from which you'll learn what task (well named stuff) is sheduled to run where, how often and so on. Since NNs are deterministic in runtime, they also include the NPU runtime (in cycles) for every NN...

While this is probably true, today we have people that are able to achieve a goal (waymo and cruise) with some tools (right or wrong? that's debatable. But they are actually achieving the goals!) and others doing grandstanding, posturing, but not actually achieving the goals. Not even on...

Either way, but I don't think I have heard of the option number 2 being offered unless the damage was so bad you'd want to refuse delivery anyway even if fixed. Tesla has disabled FSD Snapshot Button Uploads

while I imagine querying a particular version might be feasible, I do not think I've ever seen triggers like this. Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

How is it not comparable? Both keep AC running keeping the cabin at a desired temperature while the car is otherwise unused at the expense of using up charge/fuel. Yes, the implementation differs a little bit, but that's true about ICE vs BEV in general
  45. V

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

it's a game of tradeoffs either way. ICE is vastly superior to BEVs in some aspects (lighter (=less PM2.5 emissions), better range, faster refilling, better availability of refilling spots, ...) BEVs are superior in some other aspects (convenience if you don't travel long distances and have...

Using battery power in an EV to run A/C causes all sorts of (different compared to ICE) secondary effects too.
