    AWD or RWD?

My MS is RWD, and I have regretted not getting AWD ever since. However, this is only due my heavy left foot. For everyday driving the RWD manages all the UK weather with ease. I'm sure the M3 will be just as good. So if you're not too bothered by 0-60 times, then the RWD model should do you.

    Just got 19.8.3 this morning...

It could also be the roof isn't fitted properly. When my car first arrived the pano roof creeked and had alot of wind noise. The SC refitted it for me and it was perfect after that. And back on topic, 2019.8.3 just installed... Not been to the car yet but noticed Sentry Mode on the App and...

    Just got 19.8.3 this morning...

For those with odd headliner noise; just take it to SC. After a big repair after a rear-end collision, the roof started making odd rain like sounds. Told SC in MK and they came out with me, heard it, and fixed it. FYI ; If you ever need a bodyshop in MK, don't use Frosts use the other one...

    Software Update 2019.5.x

My install took about 1 hr, and also had error messages. And the release notes were blank. Odly I had 2 updates. One last night (about 1900 GMT) and then this one in the early hours (0130). I didn't go to the car, so don't know what the first update did, but that one only took the normal 15 or...

    Software Update 2019.5.x

That’s interesting, mine seemed to have trouble too. And took 3 times longer than most updates I’ve had. I had the chimes, but not an easy thing to test without causing a problem to other drivers.

    Software Update 2019.5.x

Has anyone got 2019.5.14? I’ve been without my car for 4 months after a crash, when I got her back I had 2018.50.x and was hugely impressed with the improvement in autopilot. But this morning I got 2019.5.14 and autopilot is now basically unusable. It is constantly slamming the brakes on when...

    voice commands

Mine worked fine until V9, now it doesn't hear me at all. It's not even registering, not a word. I was hoping it was a known issue like the Spotify bug. Maybe it's language specific.
  8. T

    Spotify Bugs

I need to test this hypothesis more, but it looks like I only get this issue when the car switches from LTE to WiFi or WiFi to LTE. As said above, an MCU reset fixes the issue once I'm away from WiFi.

    Car wash...Does it fit?

I purchased all the cleaning equipment to clean my MS myself, but I’ve only managed one wash in the year I’ve had her. So I use BP car washes now, as they state the max width of the car on the sign (normally 2.2m, which gives you just over 10cm clearance each side). It’s a tight fit, and...

    What is this sensor for?

It's a light that, on the Mercedes it's from, indicates the speed limiter function is on. Rather than normal cruise control. The button on the end in a MB toggles between Cruise or Limiter, the light indicates which is set. It's on the 2018 C-series I've got while my MS is being fixed. (someone...

    Communication and UK Service Centre

@DJP31 thanks for the info. I’ve now managed to book in for all the minor issues (been trying since Nov). The headlights still aren’t in stock. I’ll probably still get them but, as you say, I won’t lose any sleep over it :)

    Communication and UK Service Centre

Yea, sorry OP; my fault. You may have seen it, buy there's a few YouTube videos on the Adaptive headlights. In it you can see both the old fog light mounted LEDs come on, and the AFS in the top part of the headlamp come on. From what I understand, any Tesla after Q3 2017 should have the AFS...
  14. T

    Communication and UK Service Centre

Yes, what you are calling low speed cornering lights is what I mistakenly called dynamic headlights, and what Tesla call AFS. I mistook your low speed cornering lights to be the small lights in the fog light assembly that come on when you do low speed turning like parking etc. And yes, Tesla...

    Communication and UK Service Centre

By dynamic, I mean the “14 three-position LED dynamic turning lights [that] improve visibility at night, especially on winding roads.” They used to be available as an upgrade I believe, but in July ‘17 they were moved to standard. But whoever decided to move them to the standard setup forgot to...

    Communication and UK Service Centre

I've have the same problem with MK service centre. Not replying to emails, not returning calls and not following up when they say they will. They are really nice and apologetic on the phone, but I seem to be instantly forgotten the moment the phone is put down, so I have to constantly chase them...

    Spec check of reg plate?

I'm not an expert in this, but I am sure you cannot get any factory spec data from the number plate; there is no link between the reg the DVLA give someone and the spec of a car. I think you can get some very limited data from the VIN, but nothing to the level of which options were chosen...

    Automatic Emergency Braking disabled

The messages have never come back. The car is going in to the SC soon to get the headlights swapped (it came with the wrong ones like a lot of people) and some other little niggles; they said they will check the car out then to see if there is any reason for the error messages. I'll report back...

    Headlights always on in Auto

I have a similar effect with my MS regarding the auto-headlights. The daytime running lights are hardly ever the only lights on, unless its sunglasses bight (which is a shame as they look great). Even just now, I went out at lunch on a bright day in Hemel Hempstead and it turned the dipped...

    Model S - Headliner Gap?

It's difficult to see from your pictures, and also to compare with mine as I have the dark headliner. however, the largest gap on the long edge in mine is approximately 8mm (I can just about get the tip of my index finger into the gap), and at the front of the car the largest gap is about 4mm.

    Wind Noise and Bluetooth

I believe the microphone is in the panel between the two dome lights above the rear view mirror.

    Automatic Emergency Braking disabled

My MS did the same this morning, although while driving. Just as I was coming up to a roundabout the message pops up saying AEB is unavailable (or disabled possibly). Then when on the motorway I tried to activate autopilot i got messages stating that cruise control and autostear are also...

Buying a used Tesla from an independent dealer

I dont know if this is still relevent to anyone, but I picked up my MS last week and the Black Horse finance agreement states 7p/mile regardless of excess mileage (i.e. it 7p in both the <5000 mile box and >5000 mile box). The DS said I got a good deal so it may not be the same on all cars.

    Insurance quotes

I think I'll give them a ring. See if they can explain why I get such a high quote for just an S75. I do only have 6yrs NCD and one small claim, which would boost it up a bit. But to be £1k more than your P85D will take some explaining.
  25. T

    Insurance quotes

Those are pretty good. I'm getting £1450 from Direct Line. Hastings Direct is better at £845. I'm 36 though. Direct line have aways been twice any other quote over the years for any car I've had, I must just come up as a high risk in their computer for some reason.

    Leaving SAS Location

Thank you, that's good to know. I may just have to set both ends of my driveway as a location so it knows to stay high, regardless of which direction I'm driving.
  27. T

    Leaving SAS Location

Now that I have less than 1 week before I get my S75, I'm looking through the user manual to pass the time. I have a question about the location based SAS system that the manual is unclear on, and I cannot find the information anywhere. What kind of area does the car consider a "location"...

Time from conformation to start of production

They probably do bunch them together, but it could just be that your My Tesla hasn't been updated yet. I think it is a manual update that is performed by your DS. Mine only ever updated on a Monday morning.

Center Console Question - Matching wood or black sliding cover?

Looking at the OP pictures; by the look of it they are both the cloth interiors, the one with the wood sliding cover has the latest interior (look at the seat design), the one with the plastic has the old interior. You can see the new design on the Tesla design page.

Buying a used Tesla from an independent dealer

Thanks for posting this, I do similar miles/yr and went for the 20000 option. It never occured to me to check; normaly the excess mileage is something to avoid. Now, it may be too late for me as my finance agreement has been drawn up and I'm due to pick up in less than 2 weeks, but I might...

Time from conformation to start of production

I followed the exact same decision process. I even ordered the 75D when in the store, but changed it to the 75 after the excitement reduced a little. I only wish the new RWD versions had the extra "frunk" space they used to have (one of the few advantages it had). We may be getting the "poor...

    Silly Referral Awards

I might be wrong, but I think the new referral prizes that seem odd for a current car owners are there because the scheme now encompasses the PowerWall/ Solar referrals too. So the referrer may not have a Tesla car.
  33. T

Calling All Lead Foots, Racers and Other "Abusers"

I think they mean that when charged to 100% the regen is reduced because there is no where for all the power to go. It may have some brake resistors to give a little regen, but the car really needs to dump the power into the battery.

    Stopping on a steep hill

Sorry to hijack, but just a quick question on hill hold: Does it really disengage as soon as the accelerator is applied? That seems a bit counter productive on a steep hill. My old Ford Focus only disengages the hill hold once enough torque to pull away is detected. I would have hoped all...

    Delivery Time

My MS took 1 month to go from confirmation to build finish, so hopefully you've saved yourself that wait! Being an inventory car I think your journey will be quite different to mine; the custom cars are dismantled and shipped to the Netherlands to be reassembled before they ship to the UK, this...

Three-position dynamic LED turning lights in new, custom Model S

I think the dynamic led lights moved to standard at the end of July (22nd July 2017 rings a bell). My VIN ends F213... and is due to have the lights and suspension.
  37. T

Time from conformation to start of production

I was only joking about it being obsolete; I originally ordered the 75D, but changed my order to the 75 after deciding spending £4.7k for a tiny 100ms 0-60 improvement, and a few extra miles wasn't worth it. I consider myself luck to have hit the order window to get the 75 with the upgraded...

Three-position dynamic LED turning lights in new, custom Model S

I contacted the UK delivery team. They say the issue is known and the lights will be swapped before delivery. I asked a bunch of questions and got detailed answers to all items in about 1 hour. Excellent service!

Three-position dynamic LED turning lights in new, custom Model S

Agreed! I'm due to get my S75 in a few weeks, expecting the dynamic turning lights. I wouldn't have even thought to check if it wasn't for TMC. I'm sure it'll be news to the UK service centres as mine should be one of the first post-July change cars in the country. Hopefully they respond in...

Time from conformation to start of production

Sounds like some bad luck. I confirmed a week before you, and my S75 is now this side of the pond in Tilburg for final assembly. They may have been trying to get all the RWD cars out before they discontinued it. It must be a record; my car is "obsolete" before its even delivered :)

    Insurance UK

DL are offering me over £1200 with an excess of £950 for a S75! Hastings is only £800 with £500 excess. I've only tried the online DL Tesla page, may try phoning to see if they can do better. My only worry is Hastings new car replacement small print has so much "may" this and "may" that; I...

Notable change in 17.34 (folding mirror routines)

I would have thought they would add an option so people can choose how the mirrors operate. On my Nissan Qashqai you can choose between fold/unfold with locks, or fold on lock and unfold on engine start so they dont pop out every time you go in the boot for something.

    New Multi-Pattern seats?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm curious: What headliner came with your MP seats in the end? I have one currently on its LONG way to the UK. I've not seen one with the MP seats in person, but ordered it anyway (saves £3k and keeps my veggie girlfriend happy). They look great in the pics...

Performance increase for 100D. 0-100 in 3,3 sek

This may have been said before but: I think this is definitely a glitch (maybe a hacker having some fun?). Why would new inventory cars have a faster 0-60 than a new custom build? That doesn’t make any sense. There is also disparity for the S75, but in the other direction. New build 4.3s, new...

    Rear seat width

Thanks! That useful information. For a short time she should be able to get to the middle seat because on kid is in an infant seat that is quick release. But once they are both in full size rear-facing seats, we may need to do as you suggest and move one car seat to the centre. thanks again.
  48. T

    Rear seat width

Hi all, I have small request... Can someone with a MS please measure the distance between the ISOfix points for me (i.e. the width of the centre seat, but from inside ISO to ISO? (Preferably with the new cloth interior, but it's probably the same on all MSs). One of the reasons I have been...

    Locking in promotional financing

With regards to the financing being locked in: in the UK the financing deal is locked when you order and (more importantly) apply for the finance, and is not effected by build / delivery dates. I ordered before the end of July to get the 1,5% here, as I was told it would finish 1st Aug. But...

    Tesla Referral Program

Thanks all. I have emailed my sales advisor to see if he can add a code, I am just under 7 days but in my excitement I clicked the complete button on My Tesla, so I think it's now finalised. The Tesla store I went to had only opened 3 weeks prior, so they may be still learning the ropes. I...
