    My experience upgrading to MCU2

Just want to add that I also just upgraded to the Intel infotainment on my 2017 2.5 S, and wow what a difference. They also upgraded my firmware from a very old 2022.8.10 to 2023.20.8 and finally got to see new features like Apple Music integrated and other things OP mentioned. Then last week I...

Flat tire out of warranty options

Is it possible to call Tesla Roadside Assistance for a flat tire? Is there a plan to pay for Tesla Roadside Assistance after the warranty expires? Can't find it if so. I already have ATT Roadside Assistance, but wonder if it is of any use for a Tesla if they don't bring a spare tire, or if I...

    Best 19 tires replacement

The way I look at it is if you can't even see a material difference in the frequency plots, any subjective audible difference would be a figment of the imagination. Looking more carefully at the curves around 2kHz, it seems that one band may be about 3-4dBC lower with the Bridgestones. Was that...

Experiment done. Same stretch of two lane road, same direction, no traffic ahead, behind, or oncoming, no A/C, no music, same weather (clear day), 60 MPH on EAP, same handheld position of phone, recorded using AudioTools RTA. I used the screen capture feature of IOS to record the images every...

    Best Dashcam for Model S

Obviously, there are many ways to define best, judging from the opinions here. Owl is different because it comes with built-in cellular with on board storage and no need for an SD card. The mobile app is well maintained and you can always check the app for clips or your car's location on a map...

    Best 19 tires replacement

From what I thought I read the other day, I think Bridgestone's satisfaction warranty applies anywhere. Regardless, it is highly unlikely I would go to the trouble to exchange the tires. Anyway, I just finally pulled the trigger on the Quiettrack. About $180 discount with 15% off offer at DT...

Appreciate the feedback! As the only commenting Tesla owner with this tire, it looks like you're the authority on the subject. This is the only semi-formal review I've been able to find online. I didn't realize this was considered their flagship tire: Tire Review: Firestone Destination A/T2...

    Best 19 tires replacement

It does look interesting, but with hardly any reviews, it's not easy to pull the trigger on these right away. Since the focus seems to be on noise, longevity, and comfort, I'm anxious to hear how these handle on a Tesla. Otherwise, I've been leaning towards replacing my Goodyears this month...

FSD Upgrade Price reduced from $5K to $3K in MyTesla Page for Model S

I doubt this was planned as a temporary cash grab given the abrupt change and reversal about closing stores. But it grabbed my cash for FSD on day 1 at 2k, which is 1k cheaper than it would have been for me at delivery. Can't wait for traffic and sign recognition. Even Audis can recognize...

    Owl Dashcam

You jam the arm into the crevice between the glass and dashboard. Then you use the suction cup on the arm to attach to the window. The cam itself is secured by a very powerful magnet. I don't think it has needed to be secured since install in 6 months or so. The cord is hidden behind the...

Would AP2 ever support the DashCam feature

Well, I guess that would be a relief. Then I'm still wondering what to check since I don't have a large USB stick lying around.

Would AP2 ever support the DashCam feature

Though I don't "need" the dashcam, I am disappointed that my S ordered a couple weeks after the 2.5 announcement only seems to have 2.0, according to JSFiddle

The longer attachment puts it more in reach and hence easier to see. Also higher. Fortunately, you can experiment with the different lengths once you have it to suit your own preference. Don't tuck the wire until satisfied with the arm length choice.

    75 S and X discontinued

Those for whom a Model 3 is too small and a Model S/X is too pricey will probably be opting for a Model Y when available. At least that is what I would do.

Finally swapped out my 21” for 19”

Hopefully, the look will grow on you. A minority opinion I imagine, but I much prefer the look of the 19" on this car. There is a lot of gap with the 21". For some cars low profile it looks more natural; for some others it looks like they are trying too hard.

You can almost smell the Mercedes desperation

After reading the story about how Mercedes dismantled and damaged a rented, not purchased, X, I think that speak volumes about the company's corporate culture, and makes me never want to support them, no matter how refined their cars may be. I guess you can attribute that behavior to...

Dashcam footage of rear end collision

Thanks for pointing that out. I need to do more reading of the online manual. Though I didn't expect AEB to take the speed to 0, at least in this video it did not appear to engage at all. I would be interested in seeing examples where it works to observe its intended behavior.

Dashcam footage of rear end collision

With all the police lights on, I can't help but wonder what this driver was doing during the approach. This looks like an avoidable accident with plenty of opportunity to slow down. From the comments, it seems some other cars emergency braking would have handled this, so it is not reassuring...
