Need Three More JdeMO Orders--Can We Count on You?

I could possibly be interested, but I would want to understand more about it. I have been away from this forum for years, and do not monitor it regularly.

Stena Line Ferries offering free onboard charging for EVs

That is pretty cool. I wish they would have train car ferries here which would do that. I would love to drive to San Jose, put my car on the train, and have it charged and ready to go when we get to L.A.

    Production/Delivery Status

There are other options besides Star Shield, btw. Having some sort of paint protection is definitely a must - but one drawback to the Tesla factory one is that the cut outs never cover the entire panel. So the edge of the coating is visible, and attracts gunk like wax. This means if you car...

    Roadster's PreSales Pass EV1 1st year

Have we heard officially that the number of Roadsters has surpassed that of the EV1 leases, yet? It probably has happened, but I have not heard an official number recently.

Interesting to hear his point of view on this. With needing to pay $170,000+ per month in legal fees it shows I obviously should have become a lawyer instead.

Tesla to deliver prototype electric vehicles to Toyota by July-end

Yes, it will be curious as to where Tesla batteries go from here. 18650 batteries have far far more competition and volume which keep the price relatively low. Larger formats could be more efficient from a space and weight point of view - but at a high cost. Assuming Tesla would keep...

    Tesla IPO

Make sure you let Tesla know this. They do listen to their customers and potential customers. I am sure many of their decisions on where to open stores had to do with where existing Roadster owners are. Let them know where you are and convince people in your region to become customers as...

    Electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Sportscar

The SLS looks very nice. It would be good if they could increase the range a bit, it is sad that 2013 Mercedes doesn't come close to the 2008 Roadster. Especially since they now have Tesla technology at their disposal.

    Fisker Karma

Well the Fisker certainly had some sort of engine in it for its day at Laguna Seca. But I can believe it may not have been the final drive train. Any more than the sample Model S's final drive train was used for that debut.

    0-60 in 3.9s

Based on the numbers given by Motortrend, Elon does play it fast and loose with the "Faster than a Ferrari" tag line... but what I want to know is: How fast and loose does he play with the Tesla numbers themselves? Has the 3.7s number ever been independently verified? What about the 3.9s...

    Tesla IPO

This is true! I am curious if this is all the video there is... Tesla filmed at our house for a good 2 or 3 hours - and I assume they spent that much time with the others as well. I wonder if this was always intended to be boiled down to 2 minutes just for this presentation, or they have...

Is Tesla Motors in serious financial trouble?

Betting on a new car company failing in the US is always a good bet. However, it is not correct to say that because a CEO of a company is having financial trouble, it must mean the company itself is having trouble as well. Chances are good Tesla will fail because chances have always been...

    Smart EV (or ED)

Oh! That freaking rocks! I want that Smart!!! I wonder if it will be sold in the U.S.? I wonder how it compares with the Smart Tesla has been tooling around with at their store. I always thought Tesla should sell their version of the Smart in parallel with Daimler, but if Brabus wants to...

    Tesla Gets $82.5 Million Investment

This is great news too. I hope with the Gov't loans, Daimler and Fjord it means that the Model S production release date will not be as optimistic as they originally sounded. If this allows them to truly release the S in the time they have been talking about, it will be a truly great thing.

    Production/Delivery Status

That is great news! I am a little surprised they are only at 700 though. Wasn't 500 way back at the beginning of June? I know there was a brief delay between the 2008 and 2010, but I didn't think it was that long. Glad they are still cranking them out though. Looking forward to breaking 1000.

Totally agree with your analysis on this, doug. I would be much happier if they went through a standard DOT automotive safety rating, and could somehow be eligible for DOE loans that way.

    Roadster 2 ( formerly 2010 model )

For the owners with iPhones: I have been playing with the TomTom application which gives a speed readout as well (as certainly a dedicated GPS unit would as well). Eberhard upgrade of MC to 40 amps with adapters

Received it! Thanks! I have been playing with trying to coil mine on top of one of the "high sides" as you call them to leave the rest of the space available for the top or for taller things I might want to carry. I think if I could get a stiff box... or even just a stiff vertical divider...

Yes, it is actually a bit disconcerting once you have gotten used to the fairly agressive slow-down at low speeds that regen gives. I would love to move his LED display off to the side, and see if a controller could be rigged to make the original rolling numbers go by instead: Ding! Ding! Also, it would be neat to try and make the original gas nozzle into a cable with a J1772 (or Tesla, or whatever) instead of having a...

Should EVs Make Artificial Sounds at Low Speeds?

If Roadster owners are worried about their car being too quiet, they can just turn on the Air Conditioner. The blowers that turn on in the front of car are certainly noisier than the engine in most ICE cars.

    Will I Fit?

I am 6'4", and both the Model S (in the front) and the Roadster work for me. But as Tdave says, the current prototype interior is not indicative of what the real product will be. I would not be surprised if we are a year away from knowing for sure.
