Not much heat build up with Regenerative braking. But holes could easily be added if your an aggressive driver who uses your brakes a lot instead of regen. These are just prototypes and they are glued to the tire.

I did some tests with 19" slipstreams and I saw a 3 to 4 percent improvement when I had the covers on.

The bracket was modelled using CAD software and then machined using a CNC machine. It is definitely the most expensive piece of this assembly.

Tesla would not put aero covers on the model 3 and briefly sell aero rims for no reason. The reason they sold them was because they provide higher efficiency.

My tests fell within reason as to what result i expected. I set the cruise control at a certain speed and never adjust anything unless i have to. I have done 4 separate tests now and I would bet my results are correct plus minus a half a percent.

I plan to do tests with the 19" wheels, I expect less of a gain maybe somewhere around 4 or 5% but still noticeable. These covers help the most when you are driving into the wind, during testing I saw a 9% increase when heading into the wind. Did you see the picture of the covers I made?
