I am a former model 3 owner, currently have had an S for just under 3 years (one of the very last actual CPO ones) and looking at a Y. Outside of the ability for a hitch and the similar model 3 interior (more space, cup holders etc) what do you miss and what do you like more (S versus Y). TY

Asking for those who have sat in or have both these set ups. How much smaller (IRL) is the difference when you sit in these 2? It would almost always be a child sitting in the third row (or teenagers). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I would be shocked if base Model Y doesn't fully qualify. Tesla is the most american made car EV or not. I assume this applies to battery sourcing as well.

I would go with EAP at 6K, FSD is a joke at 12K (and I have it, was included on my car used).

I ended up upgrading about 2 months ago. It is literally night and day difference with MCU2 versus MCU1. Yes the price (and now increased more) stinks BUT it makes the car feel new.

Yes EAP is different than FSD. When you got FSD that includes the HW3 upgrade but NOT MCU2. MCU2 is another $1500 (now $1750) if you don't want radio and already have HW3. If you have HW 2.0 or 2.5 it's $2250.

Update. I have now had the car back just under a week and so far it seems better. There have been no resets mid drive and the screen is much more responsive as well as streaming radio stations.

Yes, I did. I live in Salem so I offered to wait but they gave me a loaner almost instantly which is usually a sign it's going to be a long wait.

Wow. Yes they are very short staffed. I ended up getting it back this morning and so far no issues. Only a little bit of scratching on my plastic where they did install but at the rate it takes them to fix things, I am going to let it be. So far.... MCU2 has been good. Will update in a few days...

Small update, dropped the car off at Tesla PDX friday at 8:30 am. It has now been 4 days (was told could pick up friday, then saturday, then monday, now Tuesday). Starting to get extremely annoyed with Tesla given this is a 1-2 hour max job.

Fellow Oregonian I see. What month was your car manufactured? I know for FSD it has to be Sept 2017 or later or else need camera upgrades. I will be dropping mine off tomorrow at Portland service for MCU2 and have a Sept 2017 model S so I will let you know what updates I get after.

I have debated upgrading to the HEPA air filter. The initial cost is $500 but it seems like it would be a good update as it would replace the cabin filter and the west coast seems to be on fire every year now (sadly).

In fairness the loaner are usually pre-facelift (usually even older like 2013/14) and lack any AP or at best AP 1.0. To have a more fair comparison you’d need AP 2.0 or greater.

Could be true. I owned the 3 then the S so I didn’t have both at the same time. It seems like there is more space and they aren’t as close together or crowded.
