What would y'all say this material is? Is it a foam? Plastic? Charcoal filter? Has anyone tried taking it off and seeing if it made a difference in noise?

Howdy all, back in July, I hardwired my BlackVue by tapping into the center console 12V socket. A few days ago, that line suddenly died - any ideas what the issue could be, before I tear the car open again?

Were you able to have Service add the insulation to your car? I'm bringing the car in for unrelated issues next week, and I was curious if bringing this other issue up would do anything...

I'm sure those will update in the next few days. WA change I know took affect today.

It's worth noting that if you short a fused line (such as if you cut the 12V cigarette lighter line in one cut :oops:), it'll re-energize in a few hours at most.

So to confirm, you haven't had any issues connecting the PMP directly to the 12V battery? How long would you say the dashcam stays powered between trips?

Ah, gotcha. It might not be a bad idea to look into both. Put a switch between the battery output and the bus bar, and follow everything else as in the link. That way, if the vehicle is on, the dash cam is on and charging the battery, while if the vehicle is off, the dash cam is only on if the...

Another option might be to use a relay. Someone on M3OC posted this link to a guide on how to do it for a 5V system. I don't see a reason why you couldn't do it with a 12V relay instead. Uninterruptible 5V USB power supply (cheap and easy way)

Question: How close to the edges does the wrap extend? Basically, I'm asking whether the wrap goes edge to visible edge, or if it extends a few millimeters further, so it can go under, in between the plastic and the padding (so it looks seamless).
