Will the free FSD trial convince you to purchase FSD?

Yeah 401 has to be the ultimate test - it's just a *sugar*-show of a highway anyway - design, volume, and of course the drivers - not sure how they'll program FSD to invert the normal use of lanes like the 401ers - left lane is the slowest, right lane is the one for everyone to fly along in...

Vendor Tesla Model Y Stealth/Matte PPF

I think they meant the vendor - if you're going to spam us with advertising, tell us the price or at least range per model - everyone here has a Tesla, there shouldn't be much mystery to it. Even better, offer us a discount or group buy.

FSD beta 1-month trial in Canada

Main concerns from my one drive on some admittedly at times odd country roads and a small town: It goes very close when passing parked cars, even if there is space to go wider. I'm always wary of people opening doors as you pass. Doesn't avoid potholes at all and where I am this is pothole...

Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

Similar experience here from my first drive today. Non-existent pothole detection/avoidance definitely a concern. Funnily enough it's one of those things I'd constantly be reminding my kids about when they were new drivers - agree on the 15-16yo thing!

FSD beta 1-month trial in Canada

As soon as I installed 2024.3.6 this morning, I got an email adding me into the 1 month trial. Pretty cool to see us getting roughly the same timetable as our neighbours down south. One drive so far, pretty interesting - mostly impressive, a little scary and some understandable challenges it had...

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

Yes, been there. Had to surrender a 10+ year european country license and get a new ON one which they refused to backdate to the same start date (even though I heard others had that done). Those first few years of insurance as a "new driver" were brutally expensive. It's so ridiculous I wouldn't...

@braveheart0707 did your FSD trial ever show up? No sign of mine from a December purchase.

Canada, do the MIC AWD MY have HW4?

What’s the real-world benefit right now?

Tesla refusing to transfer lifetime supercharging after taking delivery.....disappointing.

Funnily enough, I don’t particularly enjoy a long drawn out “experience” when I buy or pickup a car - I want it to be as swift and simple as possible - gimme the car, let me get on with my day. I’d prefer no dead-tree paperwork, bumpf and nik-naks too. Each to their own I guess.

    Tesla Owners in Alberta

List it privately - trade-in is a convenience service and you pay the price for that. I'd expect you to be able to get mid to high 30s for that spec but you never know. I'd list for $35k and see how it goes.

    Homelink retrofit install failure

FYI on the store page where you buy it states: And: Ideally the service centre would have their story straight but I followed those instructions last time and it was easy. Appointment in the app will let you know if mobile is possible, and the ranger will always bring any parts they need for...

Haven't downloaded the Dec "recall" update to autopilot

Maybe Tesla isn’t for you @SidetrackedSue? In five years and three Tesla’s I’ve never had a single update problem and on balance the content has all been incredible compared to the starting point. Most of the other EV brands have much slower if not zero updates, and several require a day or...

No this is just using HomeKit on my phone with one of those $40 smart garage door opener addons installed.

Same here. I just go with "Hey Siri, open garage" as I get near home. Free, easy. Not really missing Homelink.

    Tesla PPF?

This is called a "shark fin" by those in the know. It's not as good as proper PDF on the rear door, but better than nothing. It doesn't wrap around the door edge (which would ensure no paint at all can be hit) so if it's what you're going with, at least make sure it goes right to the edges. My...

Haven't downloaded the Dec "recall" update to autopilot

Also here to say I installed the update and notice zero difference or additional nags. I've driven three Teslas over five years and always rest a hand on the steering wheel - right arm on armrest, hand in the hole at 5-o-clock. I don't understand all the drama.

Coldest day of 2024, heater stopped working.

Nope, out of pocket, I had over 100,000km on it. Annoying but also the only maintenance spend on it - having had German vehicles, it's nothing. I think I was just unlucky getting the first gen heat pump - they made a lot of revisions but no recall unfortunately.

Coldest day of 2024, heater stopped working.

Wonder what the "heater element" is? When my heat pump and octovalve had to be replaced on my 2020 MY, it cost me $4000! Might make you feel a little better....

Solved: Road Noise & Front Wind Noise

I know it won't be a help to everyone but just as an FYI on this topic, I recently went from a 2020 MYLR to a 2023 MYP (MIC) and the ride and sound inside is night and day better. I suspect it's a whole lot of changes including the double-pane glass, suspension (even though I'd retrofitted...

Model S - Front Plate Adhesive

Just had my plate fall off my new MY - I suspect it going on in the cold meant the adhesive wasn't ideally adhered. On a recommendation from my PPF guy I went with "TesFram Anti Theft License Plate Holder" from Amazon. Locks onto the grille below the nose. A bit pricey but well engineered and...

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

Yeah I saw a similar post somewhere else so you’re not alone. Definitely makes me hesitate on getting it. I keep my charging adapters etc in the trunk so getting shut out would suck, especially since we have proper winter here.

Cold weather and smart air suspension issue

Yeah I think that’s one positive with a repair like this - you have all new and likely revised parts. I’d expect the air suspension to be solid now for many years. It’s a little consolation maybe…

    frozen windows dangerous closing them

I’m baffled how across multiple vehicles and years of driving them in a super-so there zone through every precipitation I’ve never had these issues. Far fewer winter issues with Teslas than with any gasser I had.
  29. R

Is the heated wiper tray just weak on the ‘22+ Model Y?

I didn't even realize this was a feature but tested in "proper winter" today - that ice buildup you get on the wipers when the windshield is wet from spray/melt and it dribbles down then cakes on, stopping the wipers contacting the glass and crippling them. In short, not impressed - the driver...

    Creaking noise (control arm again!)

Yeah you should be able to do a parts request right in the app. Tesla parts are usually pretty reasonable. If it were me I’d create a request asking if it’s under warranty (seeing as it was fixed before) and if not, what the parts and labour costs are.
  31. R

    Creaking noise (control arm again!)

What does it cost for parts and labour? It’s not a ton of work if you’re handy or know a mechanic. I assume they finally have newer part revisions that don’t get this issue?

    Model Y headlight

Doesn’t the software reinstall have a warning that it should be done only in a very specific situation? Personally I’d book it into service.

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

@ngng how did you get yours for "$60"? Have they just ramped the prices since you bought? Where exactly did you buy from?
  34. R

Model Y - is this mold?

Yeah it looks like something brushed along the ceiling there - maybe a grubby mechanic? Let them know ASAP, I’m sure they’ll sort you out.

Is current delivery process still full contact less like during covid time?

You can swipe left/right to see multiple vehicles in the app, even when one is just an order. All works perfectly. On an order, there are multiple steps you go through that get green check marks as you complete (finance application, insurance upload etc). Once you have gone to pickup and sign...

    Canada Waiting Room

@Deadareus I picked mine up today in Ottawa. Apparently it came in at 11am - was due at 1am so they had to push my appointment a couple of hours, which is fine. They delivered ~50 cars today and mine is immaculate. You'll love it.

Anyone knows the Y AWD LR coming from China uses NCM or LFP battery?

Until it's officially announced, they will never tell you anything or take guesses about this. Typically they know as much as you, it's not the same as slimy traditional car dealers who'll tell you anything.

Is current delivery process still full contact less like during covid time?

Took delivery today. I took delivery today and it's more or less this, in a good way. I checked in, they opened it for me to go look it over, then I came in, signed papers, got the keys and did the final accept step in the app. I'm sure if I'd wanted help and a tour I could have got it but it's...

Take it on the highway? Around us they are salted and lanes are visible except in the very worst of storms.

Solved: Road Noise & Front Wind Noise

Always the number one thing people should check when they experience "road noise" - tires, tire pressure and wheel size/type are a massive factor. At a minimum, experiment with lower and higher tire pressure.

    Canada Waiting Room

It moved around a lot - until yesterday the app was showing 16th-30th. Have you heard from your rep? They do have a slightly more accurate idea but they will be cagey - these vehicles are making their way from BC on trucks so there’s a lot of potential for delays. I do recommend making sure...

    Driving Between Ottawa and Toronto

You're spoilt for choice in terms of charging going Toronto to Ottawa and the Tesla nav will do it all for you - just plugin your destination and follow the route. Personally I find HW7 way more chill than the 401 and usually go that way. Plenty of Superchargers on both routes.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Most of those things vary no more for Tesla than they do for other brands. At this stage any decently busy shop has seen plenty of Teslas, I really wouldn't sweat it. Drop in, speak to them, give them your pucks if needed.
  47. R

    Estimated delivery date already past?

Have you done all the steps in the app - the ones it says will delay delivery if you don’t? Odd situation as I’ve bought twice and both times had emails and texts from the sales advisor right up to delivery.
  48. R

Tesla refusing to transfer lifetime supercharging after taking delivery.....disappointing.

Right so seems pretty cut and dried - OP should be paying full price? Bummer that the sales person didn’t know that (I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt) but I find the Tesla central internal processes are pretty solid - stuff like this won’t “slip through” once the order is processed.
  49. R

Tesla refusing to transfer lifetime supercharging after taking delivery.....disappointing.

Curious what the original offer of SC transfer says? Does it show any terms and conditions like not combining with other offers? I know I looked very carefully at the recent Cybertruck discount email because it states explicitly that it can be combined, which is unusual. Likely this is a...
