Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Last update for my upgrade: finally got all the everything downloaded and did a late evening spin around the city the same day I picked it up. The stop sign and stoplight functionality is a little weird but it could become intuitive after getting used to it. I'll post my detailed thoughts of the...

Very aggressive stopping when detecting stop signs and red lights

I was noticing the same thing today, it was gunning it from one stop sign to the next and I ended up disengaging well ahead of the stop sign, which makes the feature basically useful for letting you know about stop signs. I can't imagine they don't track manual breaking and AP disengagement...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Picked up my car today (about 48 hours to upgrade both MCU, FSD computer, and take care of the wiring harness rerouting service bulletin). This may be my imagination, but the new screen looks brighter and more vibrant, and is definitely more responsive. The new FSD visualizations are interesting...

Do people understand the door handles?

Honestly, I think that makes it even worse. Not that this is some major complaint, but it sounds like the door handles on the 3/Y are even less intuitive than the ones on the X. What's with Tesla and door handles? Maybe this isn't your intention, but this feels a lot like what we call "blaming...

Are folks getting a car to use while their car in for service?

I dropped my car off for my MCU/FSD Computer upgrade and it wasn't a problem to get a loaner. It's an 09/14 60 kwh locked to 85mph in chill mode, but it's a car and I'm happy. I wasn't looking forward to climbing into an unknown car with a stranger to get back home. I had to wait ~15m for them...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

At this point I can park just fine without them, but I'm also very much going to welcome the extra information. One of many little features/upgrades I'm looking forward to :)

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Sorry for being excited. How was your upgrade experience? We all share our bad experiences, I thought I’d share a good one (so far). Thanks! Yeah, exactly. I missed out on MCU2 by not very long. I wasn’t upset, but I was a bit jealous.

Do people understand the door handles?

Unfortunately so. It’s probably the thing I’m gonna miss most whenever it’s time to move on.

Do people understand the door handles?

I think I’ve done this at least once on every single other car I’ve driven while I’ve owned the X

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Several weeks ago, I looked in my tesla app and found a message from June that I could schedule my FSD Computer upgrade. I asked if they could upgrade the MCU at the same time, and they asked me to book at the SC. They didn’t have an appointment until today, but said they could take care of...

Do people understand the door handles?

As a Model X owner, I constantly have to instruct people how to use my door handles. I think it’s about 50/50 with people figuring it out the first time. Is this also a common problem with the Model 3 (and Y) door handles? I’m specifically interested in how first time passengers react, though...

    Seatbelt nag chime longer

I noticed that it now dings when moving into the easy entry position (I don't think it did this before). The car definitely used to ding if you started driving without the driver's seatbelt on, this isn't new. I haven't noticed any other changes in dings related to seats/seatbelts, though I...

    V10 on the Model X

The free upgrade he promised with FSD (which has started rolling out to a few people) is for the Autopilot computer, not the MCU. He did say at one point that there would be an available paid upgrade from MCI 1 to MCU 2, but this appears to be a more complex upgrade than people anticipated, and...

    v10 Vent?

It very well may. It may not have the capability of controlling the windows from the MCU.
  15. A

    V10 on the Model X

Agreed on that it doesn't necessarily make sense. Does the video have to go through the MCU on the way to the usb drive? If do, it could be USB bandwidth. Are controllers also only MCU 2? If they upgraded the usb that might make sense.
  16. A

    v10 Vent?

Oh, good call, that makes some sense. I'd expect it more to be a sensor in the window than the camera, but I bet some safety concern like that is what's going on here.

    V10 on the Model X

Oct 2017 is definitely MCU 1, since it came out in 2018. My Dec 2017 is MCU 1. I'm also going to be disappointed about the lack of karaoke . Still no update... Driving a few hours tomorrow, hope I get it by then.

    V10 on the Model X

Still waiting on the update, but if no one else chimes in, I'll check when I get the update.

    V10 on the Model X

Dashcam and sentry are an AP 2.5 feature, not an MCU 2 feature. I have AP 2.5 and MCU 1, and have both of them. I'll be a little disappointed not to get theater, but spotify and the new AP features are much more important to me, so I'll survive.

    V10 on the Model X

Oh interesting, I was wondering why there were so few listed, that didn't sound right. Still none of those have it at 5.3% of the fleet covered. The math still works if that's a random sample but who knows if it is. A this point I'd guess AP 2 isn't getting it yet. Overall deployments have...

    V10 on the Model X

There's still too few to say anything for sure, but it's looking more like they're waiting on the rollout to AP2.0 for now, which is still well in line with how software rollouts often work. At this point, I'd guess they're staggering hardware versions just like they staggered 3 and S/X. Given...
  22. A

    V10 on the Model X

This is pretty standard for software rollouts. Besides that one car, no S or X teslas got the update until today. Some owners reported endless update downloading, so they've likely been working through issues through the rollout. Looks like there's a steady stream going out to our cars now.
  23. A

    V10 on the Model X

looked like there was another stall, but I'm watching it creep up now. Close to 5% of the teslafi S and X fleet. I'm curious what percentage of that fleet has the FSD early update mode. I'd imagine folks using teslafi are more likely to be enthusiasts who paid for it up front, so it's probably...

    V10 on the Model X

Could be a staggered rollout or just a sample size issue. Only 44 / 3255 Model S & X cars on Teslafi have AP 2. At 3.1% of the fleet currently on v 10.0, you'd expect to see only 1 or maybe 2 AP 2.0 cars on it. Seeing 0 is well within reason if they're lumped in with the AP 2.5 rollout.
  25. A

    V10 on the Model X

Judging by the numbers on teslafi, they stopped rolling out to model S and X or a while this morning and early this afternoon (pacific time), but they look to be rolling out again. Interestingly enough, I see S/X getting both 2019.32.10.2 and 2019.32.10.1 now (except for a couple of cars, all S...

Model X cup holders stuck and not ejecting

also check that the faceplate is on properly, mine has a habit of sliding up or popping off completely, and this might cause it to get stuck

    Rear mounted bike rack

Tesla won't, the first party Model X hitch needs to be factory installed. However, I believe it's possible and safe to install a third party one, have you explored that option?

    Dear Elon Musk....

Can you explain why you needed to "fool" the app? "Schedule Service" is right on the main screen of my Tesla app, and I've used it a couple of times with no issue. It's easier than the online scheduling my Subaru dealership had, which I had no complaints about.

    ModelX Interior lighting

So after stumbling on this thread at random last week, I ordered a full set of Abstract Ocean lights. Should be waiting for me when I get home. I went with the blue footwell lights, my '17 outback had them from the factory and I very much miss them :)

    Out of control cross-posting

Huh. Well, I missed that these existed, thanks for the pointer to them. Looking through the forums, there's clearly a number of people who don't realize these exist and are posting in the model specific forums. My hunch is that the general forums could be more visible (they're down in a section...

    Out of control cross-posting

There has, I've proposed this a couple of times, and have seen others propose the same thing, but we haven't gotten any traction on it. A consolidated AP/FSD/Software sub-forum Combined MX/MS/M3 forum for discussions relevant to all current production models And probably more

Model X consumption on 22inch versus 20inch, not all that bad.

To add more data, I've driven several thousand miles on both 22" and 20" wheels. Judging by abetterrouteplanner.com (so any trips requiring recharging, generally but not exclusively freeway driving), my efficiency with the 22" wheels was well-calibrated at 380 Wh/mi, and with the 20" wheels at...

    A consolidated AP/FSD/Software sub-forum

I've previously suggested having a common forum for non-model-specific issues, which would include things like FSD/AP/Software, questions about the service centers and tesla body shops, and plenty of other discussion that isn't specific to one of the models, but doesn't fit anywhere else so is...

Why I'm turning Require Lane Change Confirmation back on

By far most of my issues are from the lane changes due to navigation, not the speed-based ones. Unfortunately, there's no way to control its sensitivity/eagerness/bravery for those.
  36. A

Why I'm turning Require Lane Change Confirmation back on

I considered just not using it, but found myself liking a lot of its suggestions, too. As close attention as I have to pay to cancel lane changes I don't want, it's actually less strain on me to have to confirm a lane change, and if I do that, Navigate on Autopilot still works well, increasingly...

Why I'm turning Require Lane Change Confirmation back on

I installed the update with no-confirmation lane changes on my Model X it as soon as it was offered. I turned Require Lane Change Confirmation off and went for a drive to try it out. I already knew that automated lane changes worked impressively well even in traffic, finding a gap, matching...

Options for installing 14-50 with apparently full panel

Well, nearly a year later, nothing has happened. Still using 120v at home. When the electrician came in for the installation, he changed his mind and decided he wasn't comfortable doing it with this panel. He said in his opinion, it really should be upgraded anyway, and wanted to talk to my...

    Sensors (overflow from 2018.39 thread)

The point, though, is that the minimum *required* set of sensors is two eyes (sometimes one), arguably with some kind of swivel/pivoting system, so it doesn’t follow to say that lidar/radar/a trunk monkey are absolutely required for self driving. That said, point taken that current technology...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

Free 22 inch on my x?

Quick update on real-world difference since my swap. I use abetterrouteplanner to map out my routes, and I previously had it set to 380 Wh/mi cruising at 65 mph, and with very few exceptions, it has predicted to the percent my remaining battery pulling into a supercharger. I calibrated on the...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

In 2018.39, there were, but @appleguru confirmed that the option to change lanes without confirmation is gone in 2018.39.2, so it's likely we won't get it in the version that rolls out to everyone: I'm curious how the confirmation with the autopilot stalk works. Do you just pull it, or do you...

Free 22 inch on my x?

Got my MX back from the wheel swap today (a glass replacement made them keep it over night). They ended up putting the wrong wheels on front and back and I had to bring it back after I heard grinding when I got home, only happened in reverse. It took a few minutes to get a hold of them (I ended...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

The way I've understood level 3 (and I'm not an expert on auto autonomy, so I could be wrong here) is that in a failure of the autonomous system, the car would be able to safely pull over or otherwise get itself to a safe place if needed, meaning that it's not guaranteed to work in its entire...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

They were talking about features with a higher level of autonomy, which is what most people think of when they hear "autopilot", rather than cruise control or the aviation equivalent (even if those systems are also properly called "autopilot"). It's certainly true that automotive autonomy lags...
