Kerbside pole-mounted chargers are now a thing

Normally, Home insurance covers liability on your property and Contents insurance has limited coverage for liability outside your property. However read your policy and check with your insurer first.

    Supercharger - Macquarie Park, NSW

It was an Etiquette developed back when Superchargers were rare and new thing. Seems to have been forgotten more recently, but I think it should be promoted.

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

The Star City Supercharger was rubbish anyway. You had to ask Valet parking for access, so you always felt you were imposing on them by not paying the Valet charge. Plus the tight turns were a kerb rash nightmare. So you didn’t miss much.

Anyone repeated ceramic coating after a few years?

I had the front of my Model S covered in PPF, then they applied a ceramic coating called Opticoat. At the time, 2014, you had to bring it back once a year for a top up. It lasted well until 2019 and I intended to have it redone in early 2020. I had a quote for the reapplication but then March...

New House Wall Connector Install - Limited to 50A

I understand that Japanese electrical standards are similar to the USA. I know the standard household voltage in Japan is 110V but I’m not sure if you can have 240V circuits like you can in The USA. So are you talking about 50A @110V or 240V. 50A at 240V = 12Kw but Model 3 and Y are limited...

    Acceleration drop - anyone else?

That’s a fairly low battery SOC to be starting the day with. Likely the battery and car were cold soaked and you would have used a bit to condition the interior. As lots of protections start to kick in at 20% SOC you may have found some limitations. Did you get any error messages? If so record...

    Buying a pre-owned Model S in Australia

Fit My Car sell aftermarket floor mats for Model S. Mine are held down by 4 Velcro fasteners and have never got under the pedals. I am considering replacing them at 250,000Km as the pile is wearing and they are beginning to wrinkle...

    Windscreen

I find that whenever I get a buildup of dirt and or vinyl cloud on interior windows, I clean them with the car cleaning sponge or mit that has been dipped into the car wash bucket but carefully squeezed out before wiping the interior window surfaces. 3G Phase Out

I’m assuming a software update fixed the failure to wake issue. Don’t think that DAB+ is there but is it wasn’t before, not sure where to look. In any case as the coverage is improved I use TuneIn radio stations as a replacement for the loss of AM and FM and didn’t apply for the FM tuner.

    NRMA fast charging network

I agree with @Chuq and @Vostok that support for CHADEMO should be required on at least 1 machine at a public DC charger. However, I think it’s time to declare the war won by CCS2 and require in the ADRs all new vehicles to be compatible with CCS2.

Now that I have got through the process, I’m happy with the result. I don’t need to reboot the screen regularly, coverage is clearly superior to MCU1 and the failure to wake has not returned. Tesla still doesn't know about the Rozelle Interchange

I went through the Rozelle interchange last night and the tunnels are on the map, dashed lines, but the turn by turn directions didn’t recognise that we were in the tunnel and would give surface road directions which make it more confusing than without directions.

    3G Phase Out

My MCU1 was on its last legs and needed regular almost daily resets to maintain operation. It’s a bit of a throwback to when we received Model S, X and the first Model 3s from the USA factory in Freemont California. MCU2 Upgrade and no AM or FM radio

I finally bit the bullet in February and had the MCU1 upgraded to MCU2 as the original MCU was becoming very slow and needed multiple resets on occasion to get it to function. Being one of the oldest Model S in Australia it needed additional hardware which brought the cost to $2,780. When I...

Kerbside pole-mounted chargers are now a thing

Not really a surprise at all, City of Sydney Council is fairly anti-Car of any type. They want you to take public transport, or ride your bike. This is fine if you’re going somewhere within Council area but more problematic for longer trips but happen to live in the Council area.

Yes they do, only it’s not as featured as the iOS app. For example there’s no ‘Play Next’ feature on Tesla version of the app and you can’t pre download podcasts either. Both would be very useful to avoid having to touch the screen whilst driving.
