Easy access off the highway and it probably being v4, and being pretty much in the middle it will be and ideal stop for those wanting to move quickly between Toronto and MTL. The Kingston and the Gananoque exits are cumbersome.
With the recent growth in the Ottawa area I'm going to stay positive that it actually does mean something, my bet it will actually get built this time.
My bet this site will be the busiest on the 401 route on long weekends, leaving Kingston in the dust. I'm really surprised they only but in 8. But Morrisburg should help with that, hopefully in the end more will be spread out on this route instead of the larger mega sites like Belleville and...
Actually back in 2018 when I got my car it was worded in way that it will be done by EOY, and the Renfrew and Brockville SC was big sell to my wife and a major reason we got a Tesla. They have since changed how it is phrased. I had pulled up the language in a past discussion using the way back...
Nothing but I'm just frustrated it is being built before the more needed Brockville that was promised in 2018, I would also be happy with Prescott. In my opinion Kemptville is too close to Ottawa and the Robinson SC for now, also it is a little far from the hwy (although not as bad as others...
I understand this. This doesn't excuse the terrible locations and them breaking promises on past locations. I don't think they are trying hard enough to put them in needed and promised long ago locations.
What a terrible location at almost 2km from the hwy. Not sure who is in charge of planning lately but I'm going to lose it with Tesla, I have growing bitterness about SC that were promised back in 2018 and this has me to wanting me to cancel my current Y out of spite. Still waiting on Brockville...
LOL, still says Q4 2021. I guess they have a fleet of SC installers with Deloreans :) at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if it takes another 4years until this finally gets installed. Sigh
I wonder if this flo charger will increase Tesla traffic through Renfrew. Which in turn will cause them to reconsider a charger here. I have not traveled through Renfrew as much as I would have over the last 3 years due to range anxiety which equals less trips to Algonquin Park and area. Instaed...
Anyone know if they plan to bring back showing the nearby destination chargers under location in the ap. Seems odd they would remove that. I know I could use plugshare but having it in the ap was occasionally very handy.
Also I lost a recent new features, vent windows. I used it multiple times...
I'm in awe that the stretch between Montreal and Q.C. is about to get two more SC and they still don't have anything between Kingston and Montreal( to me Cornwall doesn't count as to much of detour *why the turnover at Kingston is so slow.)
I really hope they bring this back. It was the only way to reach Algonquin park and back to Ottawa without a major detour to Deep River or Huntsville. I have been hoping to make a trip like this since I got my car. Also have done trips to Round Lake that are bit stressful without this charger.
Over the last 6 months or so I have had the car lock up on about 3-4 occasions before starting a drive, and maybe 1 or 2 when driving(car continued to drive fine). The last time the Center screen was lit up but was not responsive. The screen in front of the steering wheel was dark, but in the...
Pretty much the same for me today as well. Arrived with 26% SOC and max was 67kw and quickly dropped to 50-55kW(battery temp was 19C to start), Although unlike last time it at least held this speed until about 60% SOC at which point it started to tapper down. Better then the max 37Kw I got last...
I wonder if they would actually do that, this is close to my home(10km away) and I do have free supercharging. I don't plan on using this that often but it is nice to know it is close by for the last minute unplanned trip(very rare). Although only getting 37kW makes it next to useless for that...
Something does seem to be slower at this charger. I went today for the first time and well aware of the limitations with charging at high state of charge and cold weather. Set it as a destination to pre heat. It was 8C and according scan my Tesla the battery was 19.8C when I started to charge. I...
I would argue Kingston traffic and over use is due to not getting Brockville going, not so much the size. Regardless this supercharger will help relieve some of the pressure off Kingston. Although the number of new Y's I have seen in the Ottawa area. I do expect this supercharger and Kingston...
Hopefully we will get some of the other 2018 promised superchargers in the area soonish and hopefully this one won't be overloaded. Brockville, Renfrew, Gaitineau. I'm for more spread out SC, then one mega SC
Bancroft which I'm sure is needed especially for T the dot. But I have been waiting 2 years+ for Renfrew(charger I was counting on when I got my car) and I'm losing hope :(
So over all a design flaw that will, lose x number of customers no matter how you slice it. They look great but the design is lacking if they want to make everyone happy. Really need a design refresh especially with the y and coming cybertruck where people will be hauling more and more things...
Wish they would go with this much better design more often, for many reasons. Easier for hiched bikes and have to put less in the way to avoid damage. Easily could have done this in Perth, and I know it is narrow island here so might not be possible.
Seeing new chargers go in with a lack of pull in spots :(. I often carry a hitch bike rack and the pull in spots are crucial to not to have to unload multiple bikes and charge, also the new red metal poles they are using to prevent damaged to SC will make it even harder.
I'm really suprised with...
I pulled into the 1000 islands mall today, it had no action, but just as I was heading back onto the hwy(couldn't turn back unfortunately) I spotted about 8 posts with orange cones on top of them at the Petro Can(corner of Jefferson and Stewart). Same location as the Petro EV charges but at the...
My charge profile after a recent January road trip to Florida 2015 S:
2-15% - 129-100KW -If I got over 120 it would only last for about 3 minutes – Generally just over 100
15-25% 100-80kW
25-35% - 80-60kW
35-45% - 60-55kW
45-55% - 55-45kW
55-75% 45-35kW
75-85% 38-33kW
I also found the higher...
Saw that, they mentioned that they were moving on to somewhere in western Ontario after. What isn't made clear, if the might also be working on another SC not that far away at the same time or very recently. Renfrew, Brockville, and Gatineau(all about 30-100km away) which have all been on the...
Anyone talk to the crew here to see if they might give up if they are working on another SC at the same time in the area? Renfrew, Brockville or Gaitineau? I would, but generally don't drive through this area.
I was told months ago that pads where already put down in Renfrew at the end of February, but equipment might take a bit. Small chance he was talking about Perth, as we had talked about both. But I have a hunch Renfrew might have a SC installation going in somewhere out of site or behind some...
I would consider taking hwy 15 or the 10 especially if you are driving 100 km/h to make it on the 401/416. With my S it gives me an extra 10-15% of my battery on arrival by taking the slower but shorter side 2 lane hwys.
Really closer to adding 8-10min to a trip depending on traffic. But as I said, it could be worse(I didn't say it was a cornwall diversion, actually said the oposite), I tried to finish with a postive in my last message, and will again, it at least it serves two routes.
I really hope not, to much of a detour, especially with traffic. I guess it could be another cornwall or rideau detour so probably should hold my criticism, or I might jink it and make it more of a detour. Regradless nice to hear a full speed SC will be coming soon :)
Personally with perth and hopefully Brockville I'm pretty sure I will never be visting the Kingston SC again(and I regularly drive through Kingston). I don't think they will need a second Kingston site if they just would put in large enough Brockville site. Personally I would prefer them to...
Totally with you on this. Adaptive cruise control works at over 90 but pushing the autopilot to at least 20 over instaed of 10 on Hwy's like the 7 or 15 would make me a happy camper.
Only 60km, some how thought they would have been further apart . Kind of makes me worried that because they are fairly close it might delay Brockville more. Hope I'm wrong, as although Perth benifets me more, I see the higher need for Brockville before Perth.
I constantly travel bewteen Ottawa and Kingston. I prefer to take the 10 when the weather is nice. Sometimes I take the 15 and on the very odd occasion take the 401/416. Google usually tells me 2h10min-15mins for the 10 and 1h55 for the 401. But generally it takes just over 2hours even if I get...
I would have been driving through here this weekend if it wasn't for the current 'situation'. My guess no one has had a chance to inspect recently due to recent travel restrictions?
this might be true but the real distance is Kingston to Pointe-Claire(Montreal) Supercharger(267km) as I bet most (and know some do) overcharger at Kingston to skip Cornwall as it is to much of a detour without any real amenities. Brockville would cure people charging for to long at Kingston...
Vent/Rant ahead - Really starting to feel ignored in the Ottawa Area. Looking at the GTA compared to Ottawa Area and they are so far ahead. I know it is 6mil:1.3mil metro areas, but the number of locations around Toronto is so much better in comparison. 9+ depending how far you want to measure...
Could they possiblely be doing Tesla and electrify Canada charges in the same space? I know it isn't common here but in other countries this has happened.
I get it, but don't get it. I really hope Brockville goes in before this. So many locations near that have been tentative since at least 2018. Perth, Peterborough and Brockville. All which would relieve the pressure at Kingston and make travel faster in this Area.
