PSA: New Model Y? Adjust your headlights!

Mid-December model Y purchase. Found that the headlights, as delivered from the factory, were set 6 clicks too high. I have noticed a lot of new looking MYs also aiming for the sky. The headlights have a very narrow bright field. Set too high, or too low and you reduce your range. If set...

Gen 3 Door handle motor gear cracked, not presenting

Following up on this. I spent a lot of time tracking down possible solutions. Then learned to live with the problem. Today, an update arrived (probably the much trumpeted "make sure FSD users are watching the road" update). I got in the car, pressed the brake, and all of a sudden my wipers...

Gen 3 Door handle motor gear cracked, not presenting

It would be great if it really did self calibrate. But it doesn't even try to move the motor. I've tested the motor and it does work.

Gen 3 Door handle motor gear cracked, not presenting

I had a complete, non-functional, door handle in reserve. The motor worked and it had a good gear on it. Still no resolution to the calibration issue. As it is, the door handle is functional. If the car is unlocked, a press on the handle unlocks the car. If the car is parked at an angle...

Gen 3 Door handle motor gear cracked, not presenting

I think that is where I was. The menu looks a bit different now. And, it seems to be missing the one feature that I need. I presume that the handle calibration has been shuffled off to the extra-cost "+ Additional Resources".

Gen 3 Door handle motor gear cracked, not presenting

Can you clarify how you got the door handle calibration option to appear. I'm in the diagnostic, gateway unlocked, and no such option appears. 2018 MS with all gen 3 handles.

Need a door handle motor gear (not the Paddle gear)

It has the position sensor (gen 3). No change in behavior yet. I had the vain hope that after N cycles it would re-try the motor. I tried forcing a software update. And, yesterday we got an automatic software update. Neither cleared the situation. I have a sensor module from another failed...

Need a door handle motor gear (not the Paddle gear)

I had this same failure. Fortunately, I had a motor+gear combo from another door handle that wasn't broken. Swapping them produced a working mechanical system. Tested with 12v, it presents and retracts smoothly. However... The handle doesn't even try to present when installed. The motor is...

Door opens itself after closing, door handle also wonky

Eliminating the stiction did not fix the handle. It did make the behavior consistent though. Back to the drawing board.

Door opens itself after closing, door handle also wonky

I have the same behavior. Mine (Oct 2018) has the V3 door handle, so a new one wouldn't be an upgrade (aside from working correctly). I've read elsewhere that the moving part of the handle can drag on the rubber surround and trick the sensor into thinking that the handle is being pushed or...
