Reports Say Tesla Plans To Open 1 New Service Center Per Week In 2021

The Postal Workers in our local office are really nice and fairly efficient. Better customer service than a lot of the other businesses.

PSA for folks getting a new solar install - ask for a map of your panel/optimizer layout

Possibly I'm mis-understanding, or because my panels aren't Tesla (Panasonic). Maybe what my SolarEdge app shows me is different? In my SolarEdge Monitoring phone app, I can click between power and panels. If I go to Panels, I can see my physical layout and certain details of each panel - see...

Amazing example of Tesla's ability to characterize obstacles

People need to lay off the fast food and get in shape.

Why is the auto parking so bad? 8 Years later.

Last time I tried parallel parking with our M3, the car accelerated back without properly turning into the curb. I slammed on the brakes and missed side scraping the behind car - on the street side - by less than 2 inches. Yes, I got out and looked.

Long Road trip with Y or ICE????

I would definitely take the Tesla, but I've done a couple long trips in my buddy's Subaru. His Legacy GT sedan has intelligent cruise control and lane assist steering. I drove it for several hours, and the steering wheel required less hand feedback not to alert than our M3. It also followed...

Blog Boring Company’s Vegas Loop to Use Tesla Vehicles

While the initial opening might use existing Tesla models, I can't imagine that being the midterm reality. So much of the cost of a road car has to do with road safety. Plus, the in/out of a standard car is not ideal for mass transit. Plus2, the kids would quickly destroy the seats. Plus3, if...

    I get it now.....

    I get it now.....

Acceleration "feel" is subjective. Honda Clarity is a 7.5 seconds 0-60 car. The Y is either 4.6 or 3.7, per Motortrend. That's a massive difference.

Report: Tesla Considering Austin, Tulsa for Next U.S. Factory

Texas has 75% of the population of California, but only 67% of the GDP. In 2006, TX only had 52% of CA's GDP, so we'll see what the drop in oil prices does to TX in the next year or so.

Power from solar tiles seems crazy high

The short answer in CA is: It depends. The original version of the solar agreement forced a better sell-back price on SoCal Edison and a very small monthly fee ($4?). If you over produced, you got paid back at pretty much the retail rates. I'm on the 2nd version of the power agreement - 2019...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Another way of reading this is they can't install the exact same battery components as were from several years ago. As long as your 285 mile battery pack is replaced by another 285 mile battery pack with warranty, why do care if the pack is a current version?

Sheltering in Place - Charge or not

That is a really old article - 10 years old with some updates. Based on that article, every 5-7 year old Model S would have enough battery failure to require a warranty replacement.

    Tesla coercing software updates!?!

I certainly have an aversion to being the "first" to upgrade, but after a few days/weeks, I always go for it. What some people are forgetting is what if Tesla found out that a hacker could access your car and do all kinds of wacky stuff. Would you not let Tesla update your firmware to stop the...

People are crazy not to buy Tesla cars!

We had to wait weeks for an appointment in Torrance CA and then they had the car for 12 days to resolve an electronic issue - car wouldn't go into gear. Great car. They need to ramp up Service Centers.

    The Real Use for Auto-Pilot

Yep. This occasionally happens to my wife with her M3 as she approaches cars - typically only white cars.

Model Y Aims to Be Tesla's Real Mass Market Hit

I have my doubts. The fastback Model Y looks too much like the Honda Crosstour - both SUV and car buyers ignored the "Tweener" vehicle. We love our Model 3, but we weren't looking for a SUV. If I want an SUV, I'm looking for the somewhat vertical rear glass. I'm sure the Model Y will sell...

Model 3 - The Amazing, the not-so-amazing and the ugly!

We have the same M3, with the silver wheels. I second the wireless charging omission. Stating not that many phones have it is a very Apple-centric view, as there are hundreds of millions of Android phones with wireless charging. I also like a car at the level of an M3 should have HUD, but not...

Are Service Wait Times Always Awful?

We've had our M3 AWD since Nov 30th. Car's really nice and fun, though my wife is becoming very frustrated the last couple weeks as she often gets in and the car won't go into gear. Mostly the screen tells her to get out of the car and get back in, which doesn't help. A few reboots (2 button...
