Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

And you did those klm in Canada… you are doin double the miles per year I am. So that plus being in California bodes well for my 5 year old Model S. I paid for the MCU upgrade when it first came out. Never regretted it. And yes, my car is better than when I bought it thanks to the SW upgrades. I...

2017 Model S 100D battery behavior after charge

Temperature! Yes! That makes a lot of sense. I have had the car almost 5 years and it never did this till the last 8 months or so. I remember there was an update that mentioned improved range estimates, in part, due to compensating for temperature. Thanks!

    Supercharger - Goleta, CA (LIVE 6 May 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

Yes. Been using them since they were installed. The Goleta chargers are generally always full on weekends and busy during the week. That’s why the construction of the EA’s made me think Tesla recognized they had underestimated demand and we’re fixing it. Even after the SB chargers came online...

2017 Model S 100D battery behavior after charge

Thanks… the referenced thread seems focused on charging behavior when allowing the battery to go below 10 or 15 %. Similar observation that the battery SOC “increases” after charging stops. I am charging from 50 or 60%. But now that I think of it, the deeper the discharge (meaning the longer I...

2017 Model S 100D battery behavior after charge

I got through to Tesla. They considered the issue unusual, saw the behavior in the logs and did some remote diagnostics. They claim all indications are that the battery is very healthy for its age and use. 4% above average. They did not understand my question: what percentile would that be? They...

2017 Model S 100D battery behavior after charge

June 2017 Model S 100D. Bought new June 2017. Now 54,785 miles. I generally keep the charge between 50 and 70% unless on a road trip… then 90%. Every 3 months or so, I charge to 100% and drive a long distance right away. Supercharger for about 60% of the time, rest using dryer outlet to get...

    Supercharger - Goleta, CA (LIVE 6 May 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

8 superchargers (72 kW) showed up on the map at 1595 S Jameson, Montecito, CA the Miramar Hotel. Long time coming. 16 superchargers (250 kW) look complete, but awaiting a transformer at 3943 State St Big 5 Sports and I just noticed 12 more 250s are in the works for City Lot #10 on E Ortega...

    Supercharger - Goleta, CA (LIVE 6 May 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

Sure looks like more chargers. I went over this morning when it was showing 6 avail. Was only there 30 mins, but after 15 min it was full with at least one waiting and another that circled and left. Odd arrangement for the new stalls... is the platform at the south end for new transformers...

Should Maximum Charge Be Changed Over Time

I understand your question. For reference, my Jun 2017 S100D would charge to 334 miles at 100% and 302 for 90%. I have driven 49k miles, 25k of them on long distance drives going from 80-90% to 20% then supercharging. I am a week or two from 4 years ownership. Now, 100% is around 324 and 90%...

Ultimate EV Road Trip - Circumnavigating North America

July 2017, I took my brand new S 100D to Halifax from Santa Barbara. 49 days return, most of it in southern Ont staying with a host of friends. From Quebec to HFX there were no superchargers. But as the poster says, plugshare is your friend and I was never without options. Yep, free...

Site shows temporarily closed, reduced service. Tesla service is on site and said all chargers are open except the first 4. Rare photo. This site is usually jammed. Edit: 12 min later, two more cars charging.

    Autopilot consistency and accuracy...

2017 S 100D. 43k miles. Several long trips (> 3k mike round trip) and one xcountry... 10k mi round trip. I use FSD almost all the time on the highway, occasionally off highway to see how it behaves. On the highway I turn off auto Nav when the car persists in changing lanes when the look ahead...

Lifetime Energy Consumption for my Model S in Boston Area after 4 years

247?? Amazing. My May 2017 S D100 had a lifetime of 316 at 42000 mi. I thought that was pretty good given all the cross country I have done. Many of those miles were in mountains and at 80 mph when that was the speed limit. I lost the data when I upgraded the MCU a few weeks ago. So now...

Anyone recognize this? AP 2.0 MCU2 upgrade leftovers and other musings..

I emptied out my May 2017 built S 100D and left it at the SC for the MCU 2 upgrade. I had received the FSD upgrade 6 weeks earlier. They were supposed to MCU2 it as well... but alas, I was one of the first in my area and they had harness and then screen availability issues which led to 5...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I have a May 2017 S AP 2.0. FSD upgrade was completed 6 weeks ago. They just got the parts for the MCU2 upgrade (I wanted a new screen which delayed install by 2 months). When I researched on here before I saw someone posted a link to a comprehensive “test this” list when taking delivery...

How long does a Powerwall support a home during a power outage?

Not sure I saw you mention your daily consumption. We were out of the house for several days and I took care to shut off all non-essentials The house still consumed 11 kWhr a day. Our 5.2 kWhr solar delivers between 3.5 - 4.9 kW as a daily peak depending on time of the year, temp, wind...

Ah yes. Tesla service at it again in the East.

South coast California and my saga started June 9th with exact same sequence. Except I am local so when I had to go pick up the car, it was no big deal. But I have been delayed 7-9 days And each time the day or two before it’s pushed out. I also get an email showing status of my missing part. At...

FSD saved us from being crushed by a semi

The classic answer to the command qualifying board question asking what would you do if you found yourself in a particular situation is: I would never allow myself to be in that situation. To which the board says: good for you, but you are, now what do you do. For those that say punch it, that...

Tesla increases Model S and X Supercharging rate to 225 kW

Took my 2017 S100D from Santa Barbara to Halifax a month after I bought it. Only range anxiety was from Rivière Du Loup to Halifax, about 500 miles. No SC. Had to resort to an overnight destination charger. The rest of the 10,000 mile trip was filled with plenty of superchargers. Well, mostly...

    Wild thought about HVAC

If the air is cooler outside the garage than inside, an extraction fan near the peak of the roof is quite efficient and effective. Look for the “quiet” ones if the garage is next to a living space. Same goes for the attic.

Well, several interesting tidbits today. First, stall 5 (from Hollister) would not work for me. Has anyone been able to charge at stall 4? Stall 4 did work and delivered over 80kW when I plugged in (I was at around 64%)... about 30kW more than it did the last time I was here under similar...

makes sense, so you can identify the problem stall when you call. I have not been there since Thursday at 7am. But at that time, the “call this number to report a problem” printed on the inside of the stall had empty space where the number should be. So, it appears they have a few final...

    Powerwall Software 1.46

“Bumpy pad” = for the blind? Given Tesla is the only car a blind person can drive.... ok, maybe not yet. Don’t forget the: “Open parking limited to 2 hours” or some such nonsense. These are coveted ICE spots. But Tesla should likely rent 12 more directly across from the stalls for those waiting. Anyone think that would be enough?

A landscaping plan is an integral part of the city’s normal project approval process. It may not have been coincidental that the space was left clear for the landscape people to work their machines and get things done. I was there around 1:45. A couple gardeners were there doing an impressive job of cramming big stumps and debris into a rather large truck using the back hoe. But I agree, there is a lot of work remaining. What’s that metric... it takes 80% of the schedule to finish the last 10% of the work?

it would be nice if there was something of a barrier to keep the impatient (or the nefarious) from backing into a charger. Maybe it’s the angle of the picture, but they look vulnerable.

I assumed repeated plugging/unplugging was not intended for the dryer plug, so I had an electrician installed a “commercial grade” version designed for this activity.
