    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

I'm confused on how these new EV tax credits work with this new system. If I 'receive the credit immediately at the point of sale' to transfer the credit to the dealership, how do I know if I qualify for the full amount even if I'm under the income cap? All my tax with-holdings last year made it...

Discussion: All Season Vs Summer Tires

Spending money on different sets of tires is also a compromise. You know there's multiple factors that go into tire buying decisions right? Not everyone is as compelled or has the bandwidth or financials to change tires twice a year. Same goes for all kinds of other buying decisions.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Same here. Had PS4S's on my 2018 3, lasted about a year (10k or so miles). Switched to PS4 A/S and those have lasted about 20k miles and zero problems down here in Texas with the winters.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The new sustained peak power and torque stats from Tesla should speak for themselves. Not only accelleration definitely not falling off at the higher speeds (something I think the majority of us were really wanting) but also even at 50% battery, it's still hitting 60 mph in just over 3 seconds...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Pretty much the biggest reason I don't want one. I test drove a Plaid S. Incredible pull but it still feels like an enormous car to navigate around the road, in parking lots and parking spaces. The 3 feels nimble and easy to just point and go where you want it with quick confidence. I'm in the...

    VCFRONT a210 coolant Valve Calib

I've had this error in service mode for over a year now (as you can see in my posts in this thread). I've completely ignored it and haven't had any issues as far as I can tell. Going on 100k miles soon. I'm not paying Tesla $1000 to fix something that should cost way less and isn't a critical need.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Actually the LR has been shown to pull ever so slowly on the P at the top end, I've seen atleast one or two videos showing it. That said though, I'd doubt they really lost any significant number of P sales based on the Boost option. I guarantee you most new buyers probably never had a clue about...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Tesla does and has not officially 'advertised' the hp (they got into a lawsuit with that in Norway many years ago so they stopped it). The only one they do are the Plaid models, and are actually slightly under-rated figures. HP figures for the M3P are all over due to many factors and...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The model 3 is already quick as a daily, I don't think anyone can or has been contesting that whatsoever. Some people just want more (because why not more) options to use it in other manners than just the daily driving, and are willing to pay the premium for it. I certainly would even if it...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

For me it's fun to roll race just for the thrill of the acceleration and seeing what the car is capable of and has nothing to do with trying to show my superiority over someone else. Not all of us have to do something for show. Tough concept for you to grasp, I know. I also happen to live off...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I think "Slightly more" is off base. It'll have 650-700+ in Ludicrous form. I think also wrong on the motor. Stick on spoiler is fine. Won't fall of nearly as much at speed. I would be surprised if Tesla isn't making enough of an upgrade to compete with the likes of the 640 HP Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

I can't speak for the Ryzen install specifically but on my '18 3 AWD, I ordered these two extension pliers and used them to help. I tried for half an hour on my own with fingers and just found the dexterity needed to get into such a small space while laying awkwardly at cramped angle on the...

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

Yes, stock M3P has very heavy 20's. The other tidbits are minor weight additions but the wheels make up most of it. The strongest times I've seen on Dragy in the last several years were all Stealth 3P's so it's not hard to see why, because Ghost is essentially a Stealth 3P.
  15. MagnusMako

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

I've actually ran 11.33 with Ghost and some minor weight reduction (everything in my signature). The 2.97 with rollout subtracted is also my time on Dragy. I'm not sure the comparison to a 2022 M3P is quite equal per say because the energy density vs 2018 is different with about 5 kWh increase...

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

I'm not sure what the estimate says but the times are identical to what you would get in the standard M3P of the year these were built. So 3.1-3.2 more or less depending on wheels, tread, battery health, SoC, temp, weight, surface, etc. I've hit 2.97 under perfect conditions at 98% with rollout...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The Highland M3P is supposedly going to be a more 'special car' from Tesla inside information I read somewhere. I'm guessing a 20-30% boost in power, with much better sustained power past 60 mph. Better tires and brakes would be obvious improvements but I wouldn't doubt that the suspension has...

Five Year Review -- Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor AWD

Great post. I just turned over 91k miles on my 2018 DM 3 and sentiments are the same. I've saved thousands on gas, have paid nothing in maintenance other than a few sets of tires (under the burden of my own wear and tear), spent a few grand to make it lighter and nicer looking, but otherwise it...

Model 3 (Stealth) Performance - 5y ownership, service history + high battery degradation?

To give a data point to the OPs concern, I have a Dec 2018 Model 3 LR DM with 91,066 miles. I've done lots of hard pulls and drag racing and use it almost every day, while charging to 85-90% almost every day. It typically gets down to 40-60% before I'm charging again. Using the Tessie app, my...

Model 3 (Stealth) Performance - 5y ownership, service history + high battery degradation?

Even though it isn't explicitly stated in the "New_Vehicle_Limited_Warranty_North_America_en_US.pdf" you're quoting from, it is still on the vehicle warranty page article here. I would imagine Tesla could be in a legal situation at some point if they don't honor the 70% retention clearly stated...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The 4680 cells weigh more because they are a bigger form factor. They are higher energy density, so less cells are needed for the equivalent kWh. Where are you getting information that says the contrary? Center of gravity being low already is good but lower polar moment of inertia is going to...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The 4680 cells have been in development for some time now and I don't see it as a complex change to the cars architecture for them to develop, especially considering model Y's are already shipping with those cells out of Giga Texas. And regardless, the Roadster is still not a high priority and...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

This is where I think a Model 3 Ludicrous with 4680 cells in a structural pack design could find parity to BMW in the handling department, but I'm doubtful if that's happening with the Highland refresh, maybe in a mid-cycle refresh in a year or two once they can actually ramp up 4680 cell...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Tesla doesn't really need to twist any knife just to stroke the ego when their energy us much better focused on the long term mission of affordable mass transit EVs. Regardless, the Plaid will still outsell the Lucid tenfold. Plaid is 1/3 the price for 95% the performance. But in any case, the...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Sorry but these 2018 test results are not because of physical y2y differences. Not to mention, those C/D times seem slower than I would expect under ideal drag strip conditions and full SoC. I have doubts all publications at the time necessarily tested properly, and they don't even bother...

    Steering Assist Reduced

I thought this was a known 2023 model 3 issue so the warranty should be valid. When was yours produced? How much did it cost you to fix? This thing is under investigation by the NHTSA so if it turns into a recall then I'd imagine you are owed a refund for the repairs.

    Steering Assist Reduced

Looks like SC replaced the steering rack in my friends 3 week old 2023 model 3. This is probably related to the issue being investigated by the NHTSA: https://www.theverge.com/2023/8/1/23816037/tesla-model-3-y-steering-wheel-power-nhtsa-investigation

    Steering Assist Reduced

My friend just picked up his 2023 model 3 SR. He's had it a few weeks and is at around 923 miles on the ODO. He was recently getting small vibrations trying to turn the wheel left or right. He did a reboot to fix it, and it went away but now has a complete loss of power steering. Went through...

    VCFRONT a210 coolant Valve Calib

So circling back around here. Tesla quoted me $1,144.16 to fix the VCFRONT_a210_coolantValveCalib service alert without even having looked at it. So I went ahead and passed on that one. Over $1k just to fix a valve calibration seems absurd to me.

    Battery Degradation Year 1

Certainly. And just to add a bit of information - I definitely don't drive like grandma so I'm not exactly surprised my degradation is on the higher end. I've done at least a dozen drag strip nights in 2019 and 2020 and probably close to a thousand (if not more) launches from a dig or a roll. I...

    Battery Degradation Year 1

I'd imagine Tesla does provide a way to see it via their Service Subscription using the Diagnostic Software Toolbox 3 but seems unlikely they will ever provide it freely as they don't reveal it in the Service Mode screens either. Kind of scummy to gate that information behind a paywall be...

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

While I do think there is merit to what you're saying, Tesla confirmed with me that the reason why is 6 seat is most popular config and it also streamlines production by not having the others as options on a Plaid (workers know exactly what to build). As to how many people would actually upgrade...

    M3P Doesn't Launch

Nah, this happens to me occasionally, including today and and OAA is off. It seems to be whenever the a/c is either kicking on or after I turn it off. It basically feels like the car is in chill mode for the first 5-10 mph then it goes back into Sport with full power.

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

I understand that now. My knowledge was based on Ghost being mostly for the older 2018 DM 3 cars, I'm not really sure how many Y 980/4D1's there are out there relatively speaking. Glad I don't have to deal with the hassle it has become now.
  38. MagnusMako

Name who and their cars manf date that has a Ryzen MCU and installed Ghost? That upgrade only works on 2018 and very early 2019 vehicles which have the 980 motor. So yes I am on the Intel Atom, as are all other Ghost eligible DM 3's. Unless I am mistaken, Ryzen MCU's didn't come into the cars...

Oof. How that an easier installation though? You're disappointed about having to plug in the bypass for each update, which would necessitate lifting the car every time without damaging things by cutting a hole in your liner (which I probably would never consider doing). I installed the Ghost on...

    2.97 0-60 (1ft) model 3 stealth

Just thought I'd mention here a cool in-progress build of a salvaged 2022 P3D by Chris on the "B is for Build" youtube channel. He is documenting the whole process of gutting and presumably turning it into a faster car. Interesting breakdown of what it entails and how the car's electronics...

Purchasing Plaid MS soon, do I need aftermarket camber arms etc.?

Never said there would be zero spin, we're talking about leaving black lines on the pavement at 80mph. Show it to me. This is called leaving black marks at highway speeds..

Purchasing Plaid MS soon, do I need aftermarket camber arms etc.?

Tesla modulates traction 100x per second. Has less to do with power than how Tesla manages it. On unworn tires it's never going to burn rubber.

    Another price drop

Add stalks for the driving and turn signals and bring more unique colors to make the car stand out better. The ultra red looks fantastic from what I've seen, but even more color options can go a long ways to help with an aging design. I think the car still looks sleek and timeless in it's...

    Yoke Steering

I think a gripe I have with Teslas yoke design after having test drove an MS recently is how the side hand grip position is not centered on the steering columns axis. This makes it so as you rotate the yoke your hand ends up farther downward and thus more awkward because your arm has to go lower...

    980 vs 990 motor settled

I've ran an 11.33 at the track with back seats out / lighter wheels and have beat a friends Stealth M3P. I've had the Boost before Ghost. Thinking about a red Plaid

GigaTexas Paint shop getting expanded (see here). Speculation is that it will be as advanced as Giga Berlin's as Franz (Tesla's chief designer) recently said in an interview that he 'hopes so' in regards to if US factories would also see the new paint colors.
