As soon as I dropped my tow hitch I got matched about 15 min later.

Just got my delivery text - stealth performance (20" inductions, blue, black) scheduled for 7/18.

I'd assume they are still producing the stealth. My VIN is on it's way to Seattle, having been produced last week. I did have to drop the hitch to get that VIN in the line, but once I did the SC matched me to a VIN fairly quickly. I ordered 7/5. My guess - they will build the remaining...

I was also told I'd get the credit and then got another text later "hold up..." :(

If it helps, when I stuck w/ the stealth, I got a VIN very quickly (had to drop the hitch and order it apart.)

I ordered a stealth with a hitch and was told it would be ~5 weeks. When I agreed to drop the hitch from my build, I was immediately matched to a VIN. It sounds like the hitch component is a constraint in the build process.

Two SCs, using a referral, also trading in a Tesla. I was also willing to “pay” for not changing my stealth order to a PUP so that might have helped. I ordered in July so I’m paying more for FSD.

I ordered in July (stealth) and nagged them into a VIN for delivery next week. Car was made about a week ago.

Im trading in a M3. I’m pretty sure it will lose $200 if I wait another few weeks anyway.

I’d see if you can get them to tell you the build date. The VINs are somewhat random. Last year my May M3D had a very low vin but had been built the week before.

They took $1k off for the hitch in the MVPA. I have to order a hitch from the store for $1200 and have it installed in several weeks. Normally I’d say no, but I have a trade in and just want to get it done before the valuation changes.

Hope this helps anyone else. I have a stealth performance on order - blue with inductions. I was bugging my SC this morning and was told if I dropped the hitch, VIN mapping would be much easier. Got a VIN for next week delivery. Sounds like the hitch is a very limited supply part right now.

So I have a stealth on order. I asked this AM and was given a VIN if I agreed to buy the hitch as an add on rather than a factory order. Getting my car next week versus 4-8 weeks.

They might have priced it this way to enable people to qualify for rebates under a specific bar when FSD is not included and then add FSD at the same cost later.

The non PUP orders will not have the suspension or brake adjustments. I have the same on order and verified it’s not simply a PUP with inductions.

Unless Tesla has changed in the past year, which I really doubt, they won't credit you if you've already taken delivery. This happens every year - last year it happened to many of us with M3 orders in the Spring. I had to fully return the car and reorder it to capture the price difference. That...

I checked in with Seattle centers yesterday (Bellevue, Westlake) and was told they will not place an off menu order for non-PUP at this time.

If you have a non-PUP Performance, they won’t because you can no longer reorder.

Assuming you’d pay cash, the refund process takes weeks on end. You could probably make enough with a very low rate of return to net awash just investing that money and renting a car for 7 days...

Yes, but only if you have a trim they still sell. If you have a stealth P in order, they’re not going to help you. I barked up that tree quite extensively today.

I had this situation with my 3 last year when the price dropped after I picked up, but within the return window. I had to do a full return and reorder and getting my money back took several (6) weeks. I wouldn’t assume they will credit you if you’ve already taken delivery.

Same thing happened with my M3. Literally the same thing.

My order agreement is 70.9k, the same build with PUP (but no inductions) is 69.9k.

Yeah. But on the other hand, I wanted a stealth, changing it would take more of my time, and I enjoy having a unicorn on order.

Yeah, my wife is pretty pissed off about it. I figure I will get my money one way or another. FWIW my first delivery took like 30 seconds and the second one is shaping up to be a rush job too, so if you want to take time to inspect the car do make that known and expect them to rush you.

I asked them to apply the previous order credit to my new order, no dice. I asked them to hold delivery until they refund me, also no dice. So yes, they expect payment in full before they’ve refunded me. Thankfully I can do it, but I think it’s a very terrible UX.
