All Weather Mats on top of carpet mats

Are the all weather mats (any brand) supposed to go over the factory carpets or am I supposed to take the carpet ones out before installing the all weather ones?

Personal preference, i put the all weather over my factory carpets in the event that i need to take some business associates, i an just remove them and throw them in the trunk.

The instructions for the Tesla mats explicitly state to remove the carpet mats. The doubling up on mats was kiboshed when Toyota blamed that for all their unintended acceleration cases.

If you can remove them and store them somewhere in your home, then later when you go to sell your car just pop out the all seasons and put in the factory-fresh carpet mats and your interior will look like new again. That's my suggestion, and the approach we have taken.

But more importantly: most/many all-weather floor mats are molded to fit the interior without the carpet mats, and won't give you a proper fit with the extra bulk of the carpet mats.

@Ritzcarlton123 & @M|S|M MYP Tesla specifically calls this out in the owner's manual (in the cleaning section) and warns against stacking floor mats on top of each other.
