I've asked my Tesla Service Center about a wheel/tire protection package to see if Tesla offered one instead of a third-party. Unfortunately, Tesla doesn't offer one.
But in my opinion, I think a wheel/tire protection package is worth its price. I have 21"s with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and only had my tires on for 1,000 miles and already had an non-repairable tire in the rear. For situational awareness only, it cost me $450.00 at the Tesla Service Center to replace the new non-repairable tire ($400 for the tire, $50 for service charge).
I've used Discount Tire for several years, especially replacing Michelin Pilot Super Sport and BFGoodrich KO2s ($450/tire). Well worth the investment, IMO. Hope this helps.
