Not THAT daft. Car will go more miles on a gallon of Dino Juice, in a Generator, than an ICE will go on that same gallon.

Generator runs at fixed / optimum revs, and doesn't have to accommodate emissions control at "any revs" so is way more efficient than driving an ICE.

I'm figuring this issue is "If everyone did it" the supply would have a problem. I expect some/many? MOD accommodation sites have minimum spec wiring to each house, so once EVs are common place it would be overloaded, and asking people to "dial down the AMPs" when charging the car is not a reliable solution (can all EV brands do that even?).

If individual property supply is the problem then a bank of car-park chargers on site is the answer, and MOD should be being expected to extract-digit and get on an set an example in that regard. Name and Shame maybe?
