Has anyone successfully installed a breathalyzer (of any brand) in a Model S? I've heard that doing so will fry the computer, and Tesla Support simply says that they don't recommend it.
It seems like I'd you could mimick having a charge cable in the port, by connecting to the probe pin. This would allow all other functions in the car to work normally, but not let it drive.
That’s just an ad. The reality is their installers aren’t nearly expert enough to do the custom wiring necessary to make the interlock device work. I visited one yesterday and after looking at my M3 for an hour, that’s what the Smart Start installer told me.
He also said he’d been willing to try for $1000 but couldn’t guarantee it would work. His advice? Buy a gas beater and put the device in that. Also what my lawyer advised
